-Vaughn Blackmore:
I kept my eyes on Ryland for a moment longer than I probably should have.
He was standing right in front of me like it was the most normal thing in the world—still half-dressed in just a towel, water from his shower clinging faintly to his skin and the edges of his hair, making him look softer in a way I still wasn't fully used to. There was something almost unfair about how easily he could shift between looking like the most intimidating person in a room and then like this—calm, close, present in a way that made it hard to think straight.
And I hated that my mind wasn't fully on him right now.
Because it should've been.
But it wasn't.
It kept slipping back to earlier.
To Kieran.
To the bathroom.
