After getting the adventurer card, Takumi said goodbye to Luna, who had been a little too enthusiastic and had gotten quite close to him, and left the Adventurer's Guild with Eris.
Then they teleported directly to the coordinates provided by Eris.
As the teleportation light dissipated, the two arrived at their destination.
This was a dark room. Judging from the layout, it appeared to be a study. Behind the desk on the side, an old man with gray hair was sitting. The old man was not particularly surprised by the sudden appearance of Takumi and Eris. He looked at the two of them calmly and spoke composedly:
"Are you the Hero? To think you could bypass the barrier of the Demon King's Castle and teleport directly inside. I must admit, your strength is impressive."
Takumi ignored the old man's posturing, turned to Eris, and asked, "Is it him?" The character of the Demon King, Kyoichi, didn't even have an illustration in the original work, so Takumi didn't know what he looked like and had to ask Eris.
"It is indeed him. Go ahead."
Eris nodded and then quickly retreated to a corner, leaving room for Takumi to fight. Currently, she could not use her divine power and could only rely on her abilities as the thief, Chris. Therefore, she could not interfere in the upcoming battle. It was better for her to stay as far away as possible to avoid getting in Takumi's way or being accidentally injured.
"Are you ignoring me? This determines my attitude. Are you simply too arrogant, or do you look down on me?"
The Demon King, Yasaka Kyoichi, was not angry, but spoke with the same calm demeanor.
"Are you putting on an act?"
Takumi didn't bother with nonsense. He drew his sword and swung it out.
Boom!!!
The sharp blade flashed past and instantly divided the study—no, the entire Demon King's Castle—into two. Looking from the outside, one could see that the castle had been split down the middle.
As for Demon King Yasaka Kyoichi? Before he could even react, he was also split in two, literally becoming two halves.
"Ah, this..." Eris was stunned. "Is it over already?"
Isn't this too hasty?! She thought they would at least test each other's strength for a few rounds and had even made room for it. But he finished it with a single blow in a split second?
Takumi nodded. "It seems so."
In truth, he was also a bit confused. Although he knew the Demon King was relatively powerful, he didn't expect the man to be unable to even catch his blade. This was far too weak!
To confirm if the Demon King was truly defeated, Takumi quickly checked the system's task panel. Seeing that the quest to kill the Demon King was completed and the redemption rights for the class transfer system had been obtained, he confirmed that this was indeed the real Demon King. He had killed him instantly with one strike.
"Wait, what? Is he too weak or am I too strong? I just used a basic attack!"
Takumi was speechless. Although he was happy to finish the task, he felt a bit silly thinking about how much effort he had put into making excuses and convincing Eris to let him kill him. Convincing her was actually the hardest part!
"It should be both. This Demon King is indeed quite weak. But you are also very strong. What you did just now... even the average Demon King Army cadres would have trouble surviving that."
Eris slowly regained her composure and commented on Takumi's words. She then quickly added, "Where is the adventurer card? Take it out and look. Are there any kill records on it?"
"Yeah."
Even though the system confirmed the kill, Takumi cooperated and took out the card. He and Eris looked through it together. After a series of records involving Demon King Army members, they found the entry: "Killed Demon King Yasaka Kyoichi."
"Well, the Demon King is indeed dead without any trickery, so there is no problem."
Eris nodded and showed a happy smile. She was not only happy that Aqua could return to heaven, but also for the humans of this planet. Once the Demon King is dead, even if the army he strengthened doesn't disperse immediately, its power will be greatly reduced. The balance of power will shift, and humanity will no longer be under such a dire threat.
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside.
Eris noticed this and said, "It must be the Demon King's army. Let's retreat first before we get surrounded."
"Fine."
Takumi didn't object. He was too lazy to deal with the rest of the army, so he took Eris and teleported back to Axel. However, before leaving, Takumi decided to leave a small surprise since he was already there.
He set a booby trap—a triggered explosion spell—on the Demon King's corpse. This trap would detonate as soon as the body was moved. It was a rather insidious move. As for the power, it wasn't half-bad. It cost half of Takumi's magic power and was likely enough to turn the entire Demon King's Castle into ashes.
Now that Takumi had obtained his permission, it was time to earn points. There happened to be a bounty of points for the heads of the Demon King's Army elites. Takumi wouldn't let such an opportunity pass. If this blast took out the top elites, he might even have enough points to exchange for the class transfer system immediately.
Eris saw Takumi's actions and couldn't help but update her impression of him. In her mind, she added an "insidious" label to Takumi. She also quietly distanced herself from him, fearing he might use such tactics on her.
...
"Here, I'll give this to you. I don't have the time to help you with publicity."
After returning to Axel, Takumi thought for a while and handed his adventurer card to Eris. Although Dimension City hadn't been busy lately, he wasn't free enough to go around doing faith propaganda with Eris. He was actually ready to go back. He just needed to wait for the points to arrive.
"Are you leaving now?"
Eris accepted the card without hesitation, knowing Takumi wouldn't cooperate with their later publicity efforts. She wasn't surprised, but she didn't expect him to be ready to drop the responsibility so quickly.
"Aren't you?! Brother, please be a little more considerate!"
