The torches along the corridors burned steadily, their golden glow stretching shadows across stone walls that had seen far too many secrets buried within them.

Valen stood by the window of her chamber, her posture still, her gaze fixed on the distant outline of the kingdom beyond the palace walls, though she was not truly seeing any of it.

Her thoughts were elsewhere, tangled in the web of revelations that had only deepened the questions rather than answered them.

The connections between the Ashenclaw pack, Lord Damien and Nevaiah had formed too quickly for it to be set aside that easily.

"I feel like there's more hidden under the sun," she muttered quietly, her voice barely above a whisper as her fingers rested lightly against the cold stone edge of the window.

The pack had been too quick to surrender information, yet too careful in the way they presented it.

The leader had spoken truth but she felt like it was not all it.
