The healers and Georgia had insisted that Vaken should rest but her body couldn't dent the fact she wanted to know more.

Even the king himself had given the order with a tone that had left no room for argument.

But at the end, she was Valen.

Valen moved slowly through the corridor, her boots making soft sounds against the polished floor.

Her body still carried the deep exhaustion of someone who had lost far too much blood, and every now and then a faint wave of dizziness threatened her balance, but remaining in bed had felt unbearable.

A strange emptiness lingered in her mind, like a half-forgotten memory hovering just beyond reach.

Valen exhaled softly and continued walking, a pair of guards bowed respectfully as she passed, clearly relieved to see the king's bodyguard back on her feet after the incident that had nearly claimed her life.

"Sir Valen," one of them said carefully. "You should not be walking so soon."
