Chapter 2 - The Origin of Gorra

The world of Gorra, created by five gods, is filled with all kinds of powers. Gorra is marked by two eras:

The Ancient Era, the first period, remains covered by mystery, with its concealed knowledge lost to time and forbidden to discuss. Seven centuries ago, the New Era began, marked by the emergence of five nations, each distinguished by unique populations, languages, beliefs, and emblems.

The five gods transformed Gorra from nothingness into its present state. The deities established a fundamental rule: every 100 years, they may bestow their blessing upon a mortal.

The first god name, Pyra, the god of flame, whose flame could burn the whole world in a second if he wanted to, the mighty Pyra has a great personality: he is charming, cheerful, and humorous.

The second god is Hydro, the god of water. Before the New Era of Gorra, he used to cause massive floods and tsunamis around the world. Hydro is very different from Pyra; he is rude, impatient, and demanding.

The third god name, Petra, is the god of gems. Since the beginning of time, he has created the world's geography from nothing. The mighty Petra has been loved and worshiped by humans since ancient times. He was caring, gentle, and humble.

The fourth god is Anemo, the god of wind. After Petra made the land, Anemo made the layer around the world that we call the atmosphere, along with ozone, to keep everything together. He also made air for living things to breathe. Anemo is hopeful, thoughtful, and creative.

The fifth god is Bronte, the god of thunder. He is the strongest and oldest of the gods. Bronte never wanted to help create the world, but despite the other gods' insistence, he has never granted his blessing to mortals, unlike his peers. He is regarded as mysterious, proud, and wise.

Nine years ago, Pyra enthusiastically discussed with Petra the upcoming opportunity to bestow his blessing upon a new mortal.

"Hey Petra, guess what? My time has come! Finally, after waiting for 100 years, I can go and give my blessing to another lucky mortal," Pyra exclaimed, expressing his excitement for the forthcoming recipient.

"Really? I still have to wait another nine years before I can give my blessing," Petra replied, his tone tinged by disappointment.

"Bye, Petra, I am going to look for my lucky mortal. See you later!" Pyra said to Petra before departing to find the chosen individual.

"Let me see, that student shows promise, and so does that one. There are many choices. The last mortal I blessed was killed by an assassin. I must not make another mistake if I wish to avoid embarrassment among the other deities," Pyra reflected.

"The student with red and black hair appears intriguing; I will observe him further," Pyra thought. He had been interested in this individual for some time.

"His fire magic is exceptionally strong for his age, which explains his popularity at the school," Pyra noted, his interest in the student deepening.

After observing the student's potential, Pyra resolved to grant him his blessing. He initiated the process by sending the mortal a dream while the mortal slept.

"Now, mortal, listen to me. My name is Pyra, I'm a god of flame. I have been watching you for some time now, and I chose you to be my lucky person to receive my blessing!" Pyra declared to the student in his dream.

"IN THE NAME OF MIGHTY PYRA, THE GOD OF FLAME AND THE RULER OF THIS WORLD, I HEREBY BLESS THIS MORTAL WITH MY BLESSING."

The following morning, the student awoke to a surge of magical energy coursing through his body, leaving him confused and terrified.

To the present day, the student who was blessed by Pyra nine years prior, none other than the 18th King of Power, Alaric 'The God-Like' Balthazar, who is regarded as the most powerful mortal in the world.

Alaric, a noble youth from the Mordos nation, is driven by a strong ambition to transform the world.

At the age of twenty-one, he had already distinguished himself through significant accomplishments, remarkable power, and a compelling personality. Following his successful mission to eradicate a large group of slave traders, he addressed the world:

"I, Alaric Balthazar, will use my power to help secure peace in the world and become a symbol of hope for all. This world is plagued by corruption and decay. I will not fail, nor will I give up, until I establish a world of peace in which everyone can live."

After his speech was broadcast worldwide, Alaric's fame increased, and he gained widespread support.

"I will support him as the next King of Power!" declared those who admired him, but others did not think he deserved the title because of his age and believed there was a better candidate.

Baek Sa-on, a twenty-seven-year-old from the Bane nation, is recognized as the second strongest mortal after the King of Power. His water magic is so formidable that even a sea of flame could vanish instantly. However, his immature, wild, and greedy personality causes many to doubt his suitability for the title.

"The only candidate for the title is Baek Sa-on! We only need the strongest to lead the world, nothing more," proclaimed his supporters.

The title of King of Power is not simply granted; it must be earned through unparalleled achievement. The titleholder is recognized as the most powerful mortal, possessing absolute authority and the right to establish global laws. This role carries tremendous responsibility and demands great ambition. Additionally, the King of Power will receive a nickname from the previous titleholder.

Three years later, news of the 17th King of Power's impending retirement spread worldwide, prompting a discussion about his successor. Only two candidates were considered: Alaric Balthazar from the Mordos nation and Baek Sa-on from the Bane nation.

People around the world cast their votes for the next King of Power, but the final and most decisive vote belonged to the current King, whose last duty was to select his successor.

After a year of debate over the succession, the long-awaited day had arrived to announce the identity of the 18th King of Power.

"I, as the 17th King of Power, will retire my title and give it to the right individual who earns it by their accomplishment and gain the recognition of the whole world," said the former titleholder.

"I will announce the name of the worthy for the title and the nickname that I personally give."

"THE 18TH KING OF POWER IS.... ALARIC 'THE GOD-LIKE' BALTHAZAR!"

The world exploded with joy following Alaric's coronation, though the outcome was difficult for Baek Sa-on's supporters to accept.

After the announcement, Baek Sa-on congratulated Alaric with a smile on becoming the next King of Power. However, beneath the facade, Baek Sa-on was devastated and felt betrayed by the former titleholder, who was his uncle, Baek Joo-won.
