Chapter 82 - Chapter 82

Pov Narrator.

Osaragi didn't ask any questions and simply climbed onto Nue as well, settling onto its back. As she observed the creature from above, she couldn't help but mentally compare it to an owl.

Nue, for its part, spread its enormous wings and prepared to take flight. With a single, powerful flap of its wings, it rose into the sky, leaving behind the festival lights and the people who were still enjoying the celebration. Then, it turned toward the city and moved at an impressive speed, cutting through the air as it headed toward the place where the battle was taking place.

The sudden change in speed was so abrupt that Osaragi had to crouch down to keep the wind from throwing her off balance. Her veil and hair were being violently tossed around by the strong gusts, forcing her to hold her head with one hand to keep everything from flying away.

Isagi, for his part, began preparing for what was about to come. He took out his Magatsumi and placed it on the left side of his waist, making sure it was securely fastened and within reach.

He had spent enough time hiding and preparing to return. Public Safety's attempt to eliminate him had changed his priorities, but that didn't mean he would stay out of the action forever.

The game of playing fugitive was over.

That night, he would prove that he was still very much alive. And if anyone had a problem with his return, they would have to face the consequences.

Aki sighed as he held the katana that the Angel Devil had created for him. The hilt felt firm between his fingers, but even that weapon didn't seem sufficient to make up for the difference in speed between him and his opponent.

Despite having a contract with the Future Devil, Aki didn't have the movement speed necessary to dodge all the attacks from the Bomb Devil hybrid.

As for her appearance, the hybrid had the body of a girl between sixteen and eighteen years old, at least judging by her build. However, while in her hybrid form, her head had taken on a shape resembling that of an atomic bomb, with a visible jaw.

She was wearing nothing but a long apron with a texture similar to ammunition, and she was barefoot, wearing only a simple pair of white panties. as if those clothes were enough to show up in the middle of a battle

"Time out, time out! I'm practically naked, and you two are fighting against one! Besides, I'm almost out of blood. That's unfair!" Reze waved her hands to stop the fight, her tone sounding like a protest.

"She's got a point... Should we give her some time?" Violence asked, tilting his head slightly as he looked at Reze. Despite being in the middle of a battle, he seemed to be seriously considering the proposal.

"Negative." Aki flatly refused to grant the Bomb Devil hybrid a fair fight.

"You heard him. No advantage for you." Violence raised his fists, taking a fighting stance and preparing to continue the fight.

"Well, then die."

As soon as she finished saying those words, the buildings behind Reze began to shake violently. The structures trembled and their walls cracked, while an increasingly strong wind battered the entire area. Within seconds, several buildings began to crumble, sending enormous amounts of debris in every direction.

The roar of the collapsing buildings mixed with the howling wind. Fragments of concrete, glass, and other debris were hurled through the air, turning the streets into a zone of destruction. Then, a childish voice echoed through the chaos.

"Miss Reze! Typhoon has arrived to carry out your orders!"

The voice came from a creature that emerged from among the destroyed buildings. Its enormous humanoid figure advanced, accompanied by a storm of brain matter spinning rapidly around it, generating those violent gusts of wind. Every movement seemed to fuel the tempest.

The upper part of its head was exposed, revealing an even greater amount of brain matter connected to the storm surrounding it. In contrast to its grotesque appearance, the lower part of its face resembled that of a baby, and its short, chubby legs also had a childish appearance.

Despite its appearance, there was nothing harmless about this creature.

"What a cheater, huh?" Violence said, pointing at Reze while seeming quite excited by the unexpected appearance.

Instead of looking intimidated by the destruction surrounding them, he seemed almost amused to discover that his opponent had been keeping a surprise in reserve.

"WHERE ARE YOU?! CHAINSAW!!" the Typhoon Devil roared in its childish voice, while the winds it generated became increasingly aggressive.

The creature seemed to be desperately searching for the Chainsaw Devil, as if it had some unfinished business with him. However, amid all that chaos, no one seemed to have noticed the figure floating directly above the Typhoon Devil.

Isagi remained up there, completely calm, with the wind stirring his clothes and ruffling his hair. His enchanted sword floated in front of him.

During the journey, Isagi had discovered something quite interesting about that weapon: apparently, the Magatsumi possessed a limited ability to levitate both its own user and other objects.

"Death and destruction... To be honest, I had never stopped to think about everything devils cause." Isagi murmured as he observed the destroyed streets.

From up there, he could make out the collapsed buildings, crushed vehicles, and debris scattered across the streets.

He could also see the corpses of the people who had been caught in the middle of that confrontation. Observing that destruction directly from above made him understand more clearly the price ordinary people paid for those fights.

Hunters could survive, hybrids could regenerate, and some devils could even return after suffering fatal injuries. But civilians weren't that lucky.

"I'll put an end to this quickly. This devil causes too much destruction." He had no intention of standing around watching that creature continue to ravage the area.

Isagi extended his right hand and gripped the handle of his katana. As soon as his fingers closed around the hilt, a black liquid began dripping from the sheath as he slowly drew the blade upward. The substance flowed down the weapon with a thick and unnatural appearance.

When the blade was completely exposed, a drop of that black liquid detached from the edge and fell toward the ground, passing through the air like an ordinary drop of water.

"Hachi."

That was all Isagi said. Immediately, a set of enormous rings began to form around the sword. The smallest ring surrounded the hilt, while the following ones extended upward, progressively increasing in size.

With a single downward movement, mimicking a thrust, Isagi lowered the tip of his katana. Instantly, the rings surrounding the sword opened and closed in less than a second, unleashing a devastating force.

A powerful piercing blast descended from the sky like a meteorite, following the direction indicated by the tip of the katana. The attack tore through the air at a terrifying speed, heading directly toward the Typhoon Devil.

The Hachi technique concentrated all its force into a single point of impact. Because of this, the blast's radius was wider at the point where the technique was activated and progressively narrowed toward its endpoint, forming a kind of concentrated drill capable of piercing everything in its path.

One moment, it was roaring and shouting Chainsaw Man's name, causing the winds around it to become increasingly violent. The next, an invisible, piercing force descended upon it, passing straight through its entire body.

Its enormous body was torn apart in the blink of an eye. Most of its mass disappeared beneath the impact, while the ground directly beneath it was also pierced and destroyed by the force of the attack. The creature had no chance to defend itself or understand what had happened.

A tremor shook the area, raising an enormous cloud of dirt and dust that covered the place where the devil had been. From above, Isagi observed the result of his technique.

"Fuck, man, I'm no better than the devils." He thought as he observed the enormous cloud of dust spreading below him and the deep hole Hachi had left behind.

Of course, there was one important difference: at least he hadn't killed anyone other than the devil. Down below, Aki's eyes widened in complete surprise at what had just happened.

The violent winds that had battered the area had suddenly ceased, but the cloud of dust was so thick that he could barely make out what was in front of him. He brought a hand to his mouth and coughed a couple of times, trying to clear the dust he had inhaled from his throat. Beside him, the Violence Fiend was also remaining alert.

"What the fuck was that? That was an insanely powerful attack." Aki coughed again without taking his eyes off the cloud of dust.

"Wow! That looked like a finishing move! Do you think the guy floating up there is a friend or an enemy?" Violence asked, surprised by the attack he had just witnessed.

"What person?" Aki raised his gaze, searching for the person Violence was referring to.

At first, the cloud of dust made it difficult for him to distinguish anything. However, when he focused his eyes on the place where that attack had struck, he finally managed to see a silhouette suspended in the air.

A figure floated above the deep hole left in the ground, observing the area from above.

Meanwhile, Isagi began slowly descending toward the ground, keeping the Magatsumi in his hand. Although the weapon was unsheathed, he hadn't activated its life-draining ability.

When his feet finally touched the ground, Isagi walked calmly through the devastated area. He no longer seemed to have any intention of hiding. On the contrary, he gave the impression that he was enjoying the opportunity to make a dramatic entrance.

"Here comes the guy you've been crying for, bastards. I hope you're ready because I'm in the mood to beat the shit out of you." Isagi said as he emerged from the dust, finally revealing his appearance.

"Huh? You're..." Reze, who was still in her hybrid form, recognized that appearance almost immediately. Although Isagi's hairstyle was different from the one she remembered, that wasn't enough to fool her. "Oh, right. Aren't you the one under that witch's spell? You were supposed to have been killed, which is why I focused on Denji. Was I lied to?" Reze asked, tilting her head slightly as she examined him.

"Twenty-five-inch arm, what a loser. Who looks better? You or me? Obviously, me." Isagi said, completely ignoring the fact that Reze seemed to know him, even though the two of them had never met in person.

In his opinion, there were far more important matters to deal with at that moment. For example, making it clear who the most aesthetic person present was.

"Hahahaha, oh, what a shame! I really would've liked to meet the guy who's dating Makima. Tell me, are you doing it of your own free will, or is it because of that witch's spell?" Reze asked, amused, now giving Isagi her full attention. Her curiosity seemed genuine, although there was a certain mocking tone in her words. "Doesn't matter. I've already defeated Denji, so I'll make you regret showing up at this moment. I can take both of you: the Chainsaw's heart and Makima's 'boyfriend'." Reze made air quotes with her fingers when she said the word "boyfriend," making it quite clear that she didn't take the possibility of Makima actually dating someone too seriously.

"The hell, did my love life get exposed that quickly? The Russians and the Soviet Union sure are a bunch of nosy bastards." Isagi said, placing a hand over his face as he shook his head slightly.

He couldn't believe that his relationship with Makima was already a topic of conversation among people he didn't even know. Was there no privacy in that damn country? However, his curiosity got the better of him, and he ended up asking a question that probably had absolutely nothing to do with the situation.

"They haven't rejected some guy with a mustache from art school, have they? I'd recommend not rejecting someone whose name starts with Hit and ends with ler."

"Huh? Some guy with a weird mustache? I don't know who you're talking about." Reze replied, confused.

"Ah, no, wait. I just remembered he was German, not Russian. I think my brain's gotten rusty from working too much." Isagi tapped his head a couple of times, calmly acknowledging that he had gotten the nationality mixed up. "Doesn't matter. You're saying you'll take me? I've already got a partner, and I'm not as much of a pervert as Denji."

Isagi pointed his thumb at his own chest. He had a girlfriend, and he saw no reason to let himself get kidnapped by a girl he had just met.

"Suit yourself. Get ready." Reze shifted into a fighting stance, raising her fists as she fixed her gaze on Isagi.

"Fists? You want to fight me with your bare hands?" Isagi couldn't help but smile at such an idea. However, far from rejecting the challenge. "Alright! I'm about to put my grandfather's teachings into practice. He was from the old generation."

Isagi didn't refuse a hand-to-hand fight with Reze. On the contrary, he decided to accept her proposal. With a slight smile, he sheathed his katana, and the soft click of the scabbard as it received the blade echoed among the remains of the battle.

Then, he raised both hands and cracked his knuckles, making them pop. A faint sensation of cursed energy began to envelop his fists, reinforcing his muscles and preparing him for combat.

He had considerably improved his control over cursed energy during his recent training sessions. He no longer needed to waste so much energy to reinforce his body.

"Let's see what you're made of."
