Chapter 21 - A Fleeting Memory

Elora and Oasis tried to ignore the hostility in the ballroom due to the different factions of power. The Lysander Marquisate had avoided the power struggle and massacre on excuse of the young heirs and their strong refusal to be involved. Elora saw a man standing at the corner of the ballroom with a crowd of onlookers staring from afar.

She instantly recognized the rumored heir to the Duchy of Vern. That Blonde platinum hair, the serene emerald eyes. She understood why so many ladies were crazy over him. How old was he again? Yes, 17, a year younger than her. The man was one that most ladies swooned over. Elora agreed with their madness, but it was said that he was uninterested in anyone. Elora might not have fancied him romantically, but she too couldn't help but acknowledge his beauty. God had given his all to create that masterpiece.

Oasis looked at Elora, who was looking at that corner of the ballroom. He wondered, was his sister also interested in the rumored bachelor? But knowing his sister well, he concluded she was only admiring his beauty. His sister though great, was an eccentric lover of beauty.

She might have even loved an ugly him, but she sure preferred his handsome face. Cute was how she would define it. She had practically raised him; her little brother.

Oasis, too, thought that the man to be extremely handsome or beautiful. According to his sister, he was just noticing the man's details when it struck him that he was becoming wild like his sister as the days passed by.

The party came to an end as the young siblings boarded their carriage. They gave out a sigh of relief in unison. ''The food was delicious'', remarked Elora, whose only focus after the emperor and that man had been Oasis and food. Everything else was a fleeting memory. the only memory was the satisfied taste buds and the cute ladies admiring Oasis.

Oasis too only remembered food and the ugly squids Looking at his sister. there was a decent one. the young heir of Vivonne, who too had to be disqualified, considering his frail constitution.
