Chapter 166 - Chapter 80 – The Shadow Forge Raid and the Heart of Darkness

Sunlight filtered through the high windows of the citadel's main hall, illuminating dust motes dancing above a tangled heap of silk sheets. Wei Chen woke with a groan, golden eyes blinking open to reveal nineteen pairs of watching gazes. Lin Xue was curled against his chest, her frost-kissed breath warm against his skin, while Su Mei lay sprawled across the footboard, crimson chains loosely draped over her shoulders like a sleeping serpent.

"Morning," Wei Chen murmured, voice rough with sleep and lingering Yang energy. He shifted, feeling the familiar hum of power coursing through him from the night's exertion. "Did we break anything?"

Astra giggled from the edge of the bed, her cosmic staff resting lightly on his thigh. "Only a few pillows, husband. And maybe your dignity." She leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his jaw. "But you look rested enough for war."

Wei Chen smirked, lifting Lin Xue's chin with a thumb. "I always am. Now… who wants breakfast before we go hunt the Shadow Forge?"

"Me," Su Mei purred, sliding off the bed and wrapping her arms around his waist. Her skin was still warm from their night of passion, faint purple streaks fading on Wei Chen's chest where she'd marked him with her demon essence. "And maybe a little more… celebration before we leave."

He chuckled, lifting her effortlessly into his arms as he stood. The bed creaked softly under the weight of nineteen queens, but they moved in practiced harmony, no one complaining about the space or the heat. This was their rhythm—danger followed by warmth, power balanced by pleasure.

"Fine," Wei Chen said, setting Su Mei down and grabbing his Celestial Dragon-Slayer Spear from the wall rack. "But we move fast. The forge is still active."

The courtyard buzzed with activity as the Pride assembled. Yu was sharpening her bronze claws against a stone pillar, while Lei Xin cracked thunder in the distance to test the air's conductivity. Umbra and Astra stood near the edge of the roof, their shadows merging into a swirling vortex that hummed with cosmic energy.

Wei Chen scanned the horizon. Smoke curled from the eastern ridge—the Shadow Forge. It was a massive construct built by the Void Dragon God's remnants, designed to harvest souls and forge weapons capable of piercing celestial light. If they didn't stop it soon, the entire realm would fall into eternal darkness.

"Ready?" he asked, turning to his queens.

Lin Xue nodded, her Ice Star Sword glowing faintly in its sheath. "My blade is cold enough to freeze time itself." Lei Xin grinned, lightning crackling around her fingers. "And I'm ready to burn it down." Su Mei leaned close, whispering into his ear. "I'll make sure you don't forget why we fight… after the battle."

Wei Chen's golden eyes darkened with amusement. "Good. Because I plan on making every second count tonight."

They stepped out of the citadel and onto the battlefield. The air smelled of ozone and sulfur, a mix of celestial fire and shadow acid. Shadow constructs—giant golems made of obsidian and void energy—blocked their path, each one humming with a low, menacing frequency.

"First wave," Wei Chen said, raising his spear. "Let's see what they've got."

The first fight was brutal but short. Yu leaped forward, claws slicing through the golems' armor as if it were paper. Lei Xin followed up with thunderbolts that shattered their cores instantly. Umbra and Astra created a barrier of starlight and shadow to protect the weaker members of the Pride.

Wei Chen moved like lightning, his spear spinning in a blur of golden light. Each thrust connected with a solid thud, sending shockwaves through the constructs. But they were numerous—dozens of them, each one pulsing with dark energy that tried to drain his Yang reserves.

"Keep your guard up!" he shouted, dodging a shadow claw swipe from a golem's side. "They're feeding on our heat!"

Lin Xue slashed her sword through the air, frost crystals freezing three constructs solid before they exploded into dust. "Husband… their cores are linked to the forge itself."

"Then we break the link," Wei Chen said, teleporting behind a golem and driving his spear deep into its spine. "Let's finish this quickly."

As the battle raged, Wei Chen felt the familiar pull of exhaustion. His Nine-Suns Overload was straining under the constant drain from the shadow constructs. He needed to recharge before they reached the core.

"Break time," he announced, raising a hand. The Pride halted mid-swing, weapons lowered.

They retreated to a nearby ridge, where Wei Chen guided them into a secluded alcove of rock and shadow. "We need to stabilize my Yang energy before we breach the forge."

Su Mei stepped forward, her crimson chains wrapping around his waist like a living belt. "Then let's make sure you're ready for what comes next."

She kissed him deeply, her tongue tasting of sulfur and spice. Wei Chen groaned, hands gripping her hips as he pulled her closer. The heat between them spiked instantly, their cores syncing in perfect rhythm.

"Nine-Suns Overload—Dual Cultivation Mode," Wei Chen whispered against her lips. "Let's burn this forge down together."

They moved into the alcove, bodies pressing tight against one another. Su Mei's nails dug into his shoulders as she thrust upward, her demon essence flooding his veins with raw power. The friction of their skin created sparks that danced in the air, a mix of fire and shadow. Wei Chen groaned loudly, his golden eyes closing as he felt the Yang energy surge through him like a tidal wave.

"Harder," Su Mei panted, biting his earlobe. "Make me stronger."

He lifted her effortlessly, pinning her against the rock wall. His spear slid from its sheath and rested beside them, glowing with golden light. The rhythm of their bodies synced with the beat of his heart, each thrust pushing him closer to a breakthrough. Sweat dripped from his brow onto Su Mei's chest, mixing with the heat of their cores.

"Look at me," he commanded softly, pulling her face close. "Feel this power."

She nodded, eyes fluttering shut as she embraced the surge. The shadow constructs outside began to crumble under the pressure of their combined energy. Inside the alcove, they moved in perfect harmony, a dance of fire and ice that left them both breathless.

By the time they finished, Wei Chen's golden eyes burned brighter than ever before. His Yang reserves were replenished, his core humming with renewed strength.

"Good," he said, lifting her into his arms again. "Now… let's go break their hearts."

They reached the forge's entrance—a massive gate of black iron etched with void runes. Shadow dragons circled above, their wings beating against the sky like thunder. Wei Chen raised his spear, golden light erupting from its tip.

"Nine-Suns Overload—Celestial Variant!" he shouted, charging forward.

The battle was intense. Shadow constructs swarmed them, but the Pride held firm. Yu and Lei Xin led the charge, while Umbra and Astra created barriers to protect the weaker members. Wei Chen moved like a falling star, his spear striking true with every thrust.

Inside the forge's core, they found the source of the shadow energy—a massive construct of obsidian and void light, pulsing with a heartbeat that matched Vyr's own. It was the Heart of Darkness, a living weapon forged from the Void God's essence.

"Beautiful," Wei Chen murmured, watching it pulse in rhythm with his own core. "But not too beautiful."

He raised his spear again, golden light merging with Su Mei's crimson chains and Lin Xue's frost crystals. The combined energy formed a beam of pure destruction that struck the Heart of Darkness directly.

The construct shattered into dust, its essence absorbed by Wei Chen's Nine-Suns Overload. His power surged to new heights, his golden eyes glowing brighter than ever before.

But as he turned to leave, a whisper echoed in his mind—familiar and ancient.

"You've broken the shell… but not the soul."

Wei Chen froze, spear lowered. The forge's core wasn't empty—it was waiting for something else. Something far greater than Vyr or the Void God.

He looked at his queens, their eyes wide with realization. "What did you find?"

Lin Xue stepped forward, her sword humming softly. "The Heart… it's not dead. It's just sleeping."

Wei Chen's golden eyes narrowed. "Then we wake it up properly."
