Chapter 3 - Wetlands X Fight

Archer stood in the middle of the crowd, enjoying this good show.

He naturally knew who the real Examiner was; that man who was accusing Satotz of being a fake was actually the fake himself.

But he didn't want to interfere with this act cause this might be a test for candidates.

However, right then, six playing cards suddenly flew out from the crowd, three heading toward the fake and three toward Examiner Satotz.

The playing cards were extremely fast. Before the fake could react, his chest was pierced by the cards, and his eyes rolled back as he fell to the ground, dead.

The three cards flying toward Satotz were caught firmly in his hands. He then turned his head toward Hisoka.

"Distinguishing between real and fake doesn't have to be so troublesome. An Examiner sent by the Hunter Association must be very powerful. If they can't even catch this move of mine, they're definitely a fake."

The crowd felt this made sense upon hearing it, though they still silently put some distance between themselves and Hisoka. Getting too close to this guy might lead to being killed on a whim; it was better to stay away from such a dangerous person.

Satotz's gave a warning to Hisoka and led everyone toward the location of the second phase of the exam.

Archer followed the main group, lost in thought. When he saw this plot on TV as a child, he hadn't thought much of it, only feeling that Hisoka's method was convenient, fast, and quite efficient. Having experienced it firsthand, it felt like a completely different matter.

Hisoka was not the type to take the world's burdens as his own responsibility. This guy feared nothing more than a world at peace; how could he be kind enough to step out just to identify a fake?

Furthermore, the Examiner's expression was a bit off. He seemed somewhat dissatisfied after the fake was exposed. Could it be that he had intentionally sought out this fake?

It was indeed very likely. People in the Hunter World loved to set up trials to test things like character. In that case, he should indeed be annoyed that his trial was ruined by Hisoka.

Just as he was lost in thought, the person running in front of him suddenly slammed on the brakes, giving him a fright. He also quickly braked to steady himself.

Is this guy sick? Why stop so suddenly while running perfectly fine?

Looking closely, it turned out that the person running in front of him was Leorio, and standing beside Leorio was Kurapika. Both had stopped at the same time and were looking ahead as if facing a great enemy.

He patted the other's shoulder and asked, "Why stop all of a sudden?"

Leorio pointed forward. Following the finger, Archer saw a person who is very annoying to him.

Hisoka was standing at the front of the crowd, blocking the path. Several corpses of candidates lay at his feet.

Seeing this, Archer head throbbed. He had followed the main group to avoid trouble, but he hadn't expected to be led into a ditch by them, bumping straight into Hisoka.

Moreover, this guy looked like he was up to no good. It seemed getting away wouldn't be that simple.

Hisoka stretched lazily and said playfully, "Next, I'll be acting as a temporary Examiner. All those whose strength is substandard will leave their lives here."

Intercepted along with Archer were more than twenty other candidates. Hearing this, the crowd was instantly filled with rage.

"Hisoka, don't be too arrogant! If we all attack together, I don't believe one man can beat so many of us!"

"Hisoka, your strength is indeed great, but you definitely have no chance of winning against all of us at once!"

Facing the taunts of these Extra candidates, Hisoka casually took out a playing card, and then his figure blurred as he appeared in the middle of the crowd.

"You..."

Before the crowd could react, Hisoka's playing card turned into a streak of white light passing through the crowd. Every person it swept past let out a miserable scream before falling to the ground. In just an instant, more than twenty candidates were easily killed by him.

After dealing with these people, only three people remained on the scene Archer, Leorio, and Kurapika.

Watching Hisoka slowly walk toward them, Kurapika gritted his teeth and said, "I'll take the lead, you guys cover me. If we coordinate well, there might be a glimmer of hope."

Leorio shook his head and said, "It's useless. The opponent's strength is too great; we have no chance. I think we should split up and run. If the three of us run in three different directions, even if we're caught, only one will die, and the other two can escape successfully."

Kurapika gripped his wooden swords tightly and finally nodded in agreement.

Leorio looked at Archer, questioning his opinion with his eyes. Having seen the original work, Archer naturally knew what Leorio was thinking. After they split up and ran, Leorio would come back alone and sacrifice himself to save Kurapika and him.

Thinking of this, he sighed helplessly. In the original work, Hisoka spared the other's life, but reality was not an anime. If the Hisoka of this world had a sudden lapse in judgment and killed Leorio, he will feel bad.

Archer said to Leorio and Kurapika, "You two go first. I'll catch up with you shortly."

Leorio and Kurapika were shocked. They instantly thought that Archer might be planning to sacrifice himself.

Leorio hurriedly tried to persuade him, "If we split up, someone won't necessarily die. Maybe Hisoka will get lost while chasing us and all three of us can survive."

"Even if we fight for our lives, three people together have a better chance than you alone. We will never abandon a companion." While speaking, Kurapika drew the twin blades from his wooden swords. These were hidden for a sneak attack, but now he had no choice but to bring them out early to fight Hisoka to the death.

Archer was speechless because Both of them thought that he can't fight Hisoka.

He looked at the two with a very serious gaze. Leorio and Kurapika also realized that Archer seemed to be somewhat different from what they had thought.

"Don't worry! I'm very confident in my speed. Even if I can't beat this guy, I can escape from his hands. Once I shake him off, I'll catch up with you immediately."

Seeing Archer's serious gaze, the two finally gritted their teeth and dove into the forest in two different directions, disappearing under the cover of the trees.

Only Hisoka and Archer remained on the scene. The corner of Hisoka's mouth curled into a smile. "After discussing for so long, have you finally decided to stay behind and wait for death?"

Archer didn't reply but instead stepped toward Hisoka. This action took even Hisoka by surprise, and then he revealed a chilling smile, his body trembling with excitement.

Clearly knowing his strength, instead of keeping his distance, he was approaching him. This exam really had many interesting fruits.

Suddenly Hisoka figure blurred and he appeared in front of Archer, the playing card in his hand slashing horizontally toward Archer neck.

Seeing Archer show no reaction, he was a bit disappointed. It seemed he was just a weakling with commendable courage. Better to finish him quickly and go find more interesting fruits.

Just as his attack was about to touch Archer neck, Archer who was standing before him actually dodged the attack at last moment. Hisoka found his attack being dodged was surprised and delighted.
