Keifer POV
I didn't mean to catch her on the elevator. But as fate would have it, there she was, pressing the button for the 12th floor, hair perfectly in place, heels clicking just so, eyes narrowed in… what I could only describe as playful suspicion.
"Of all days," she muttered under her breath as I stepped in.
I grinned. "Hey, consider it a coincidence—or fate. You choose."
Her eyes flicked to mine, sharp and teasing. "I'm leaning toward coincidence."
I leaned casually against the panel, keeping one hand near the buttons, one hand in my pocket. "I prefer to think it's chemistry."
Her cheeks colored ever so slightly. A blush. Cute, subtle, but there. I caught it and hid my smirk.
Jay POV
He leaned against the elevator panel like he owned the space—but not in a threatening way. More… casual. Calm. Controlled.
"I don't know how you do it," I said softly, trying not to let my heart betray me. "Show up in the tiniest spaces and make me feel… something."
He tilted his head, amused. "Something good?"
I didn't answer. My stomach twisted, heat rushing to my cheeks. Don't blush. Don't blush.
"Careful, Jay," he murmured, voice low. "I can see it."
I wanted to hide my face. Couldn't. "See what?" I whispered.
"That tiny blush," he said, voice teasing but soft. "The one you can't hide from me."
I cursed under my breath. Like a tomato, I thought, and glanced away.
Keifer POV
Her reaction? Perfect. Unexpected. And exactly what I'd hoped for.
I stepped a little closer—not enough to invade her space, just enough to notice the warmth radiating off her.
"Maybe I should make you blush more often," I teased.
Her lips pressed into a thin line. "Don't even think about it."
I chuckled. "Oh, I'm already thinking about it."
The elevator shuddered slightly as it reached the next floor. She tensed ever so slightly, and I knew exactly why.
Jay POV
He didn't move closer, but I could feel him there. The air between us was charged. My pulse raced, and I had to consciously slow my breathing.
"I don't know why you're like this," I said, more to myself than him.
"Like what?" he asked, voice smooth, teasing.
"Like… this," I admitted, voice barely above a whisper. "Like you enjoy making me… feel things."
He smirked. "I do. But you like it too, don't you?"
I froze. Couldn't answer. And yes—I did.
Keifer POV
The doors opened, and she stepped out first, heels clicking against the marble. I stayed behind for a heartbeat longer, watching her go, savoring the moment.
And yet… I already knew I'd see her again.
Because we weren't done. Not by a long shot.
Ending Beat
She blushed. I teased.
No hands touched. No promises made.
But the elevator had shifted something.
The tension was flirty, electric, and impossible to ignore.
And that, my friends… was progress.
