Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Reborn on Another World

A young man dressed in dark clothes is lying on the floor of a seemingly abandoned mansion. This is a towering mansion situated deep within an unknown forest. The young man lying inside was summoned by the magic summoning runic circle beneath him. He is this generation's Demon Lord – an existence summoned by the World's Will to provide more mana to the world. All Demon Lords possess almost infinite mana due to their otherworldly nature, and the World's Will trains its own Heroes that were tasked with the great mission of slaying the Demon Lord. The moment that the Heroes slay the Demon Lord, the Demon Lord's almost infinite amount of mana would be released to the world and thus nurture the entire world. Therefore, the World's Will would summon a Demon Lord every 500 years, which is its own limit, train Heroes, then slay the Demon Lord. This has been the cycle for the past six millennia, a whole six thousand years ever since the World's Will was born due to mana abundance. Every time a Demon Lord was born, millions of living creatures would be massacred. Afterall, Demon Lords are no pushovers, their infinite mana would manifest into different type of powers that would make Demon Lords almost invincible. To slay a Demon Lord, Heroes with the blessing of World's Will would have to pay a heavy price, and the war would always result to the death of millions of living creatures. Thus, the birth of the Demon Lord is always dreaded by the inhabitants, and their history would constantly remind them of the terror of every generation of Demon Lord. Today, a Demon Lord was born once again, lying on the floor peacefully like a sleeping beauty.

Suddenly, the young man opened his eyes, which is red velvet in color, showing its evil yet devilishly beautiful nature. He slowly got up and looked around him – looking confused.

"Where on Earth is this place? Didn't the car crash? Is this afterlife?" He looked around him and noticed he is inside an old huge mansion.

Through the window, he saw the blue sky and green forest outside. He went outside and the forest scenery greeted his sight. A mansion in the middle of a forest? He clearly remembered how the car crashed when he was on his way home last night. He was crushed inside, then the car exploded. After that, he lost his consciousness, or to be more specific, he died. Then, he suddenly woke up here totally fine in the middle of nowhere. Maybe… reincarnation? When he arrived to this conclusion, he was dumbfounded and was in a daze. He stood there for about an hour and couldn't help but feel lost.

He has lots of questions in his mind but couldn't get an answer no matter how much he asks himself again and again.

*Sigh*

While he is still feeling lost and don't know what to do, he suddenly heard the bushes in front of the mansion rustle and move about as if something is about to emerge. He suddenly felt cautious and nervous at the same time. What if a wild animal like a bear or wolf come out? He was after all in the middle of a forest, who knows what kind of beasts and danger lurks around? The thought of it made him tremble from nervousness. He didn't have time to react before something out of his imagination came out of the bushes. Five, one meter tall, green-skinned, humanoid creatures appear in front of him. Sharp teeth protruding from their mouth, sharp claws holding unto wooden spears and clubs, scarlet red eyes staring at him with ferocity and murderous intent. Whether due to shock or fear, he froze on the spot and couldn't move.

"Kekeke, a human? Let's eat him! Kekeke!" The five monsters immediately ran into him and brandished their weapon against him. When the wooden spears and clubs were about to hit him, a magical barrier appeared around him and blocked the attack from the monsters. Then the barrier exploded and the five monsters were hit, they were blasted away and their bodies slammed on the trees behind them.

"This…" He couldn't believe what happened in the span of a few seconds.

"Are those… goblins!? And that barrier… is it… magic?"

"This is not Earth, and from the looks of it, this is a world of monsters and magic…"

"This is… crazy."

The five goblins were pretty bloodied and heavily injured, lying on the ground unmoving.

"Are they dead?" Although he was a bit scared, but recalling the barrier that protected him earlier made him feel a bit secured. Curiosity got into him and he walked nearer into the goblins.

The green skin of the goblins was the first time he had ever seen, a curious glint flashed through his eyes. He reached out his hand and tried to touch the green skin. When his hands touched the goblin's skin, a hologram appeared out of nowhere.

[Goblin]

Strength: 1.1

Agility: 1.1

Vitality: 0.9

Intelligence: 0.8

Note: Would you like to enslave this creature?

Yes or No?

"What is this…" "Is this a magical ability? Enslave…?" A bit shocked, he still reached out his hand to click the hologram, to the 'Yes' button.

"Enslavement Successful!"

To his surprise, the goblin was suddenly filled with green light and its body healed, then its body grew quickly, from one meter to three meters tall. The goblin stood up and looked at him, opened its mouth and said, "M-master…"

The now three-meter tall muscular goblin kneeled on one knee in front of him and spoke once again. "Master…"

[Demon Goblin]

Strength: 110

Agility: 109

Vitality: 115

Intelligence: 105

Note: Enslaved Creature

"Well, he looks a bit different after enslavement…" The young man murmured under his breath.

The goblin remained kneeling and didn't dare to disturb the young man which is now its master.

"Stand aside." The young man ordered.

The Demon Goblin immediately stood up and stepped aside.

The young man stepped forward to touch the next goblin. The goblins were so heavily injured so they remained unconscious and lying down on the ground. When his fingers touched the goblin, the same hologram appeared. He immediately did the same thing, clicked on the 'Yes' button and enslaved the goblin. Once again, green light filled the goblin and it transformed into a three-meter tall Demon Goblin. It kneeled in front of him and acknowledged him as its master. He did the same thing to the rest of the goblins. A few moments later, five Demon Goblins stood in front him respectfully, awaiting his orders.

"I can't believe this is really happening…" *sigh*

Recalling his life on Earth, he couldn't help but feel emotional.

He is Anton Kim. An Olympic Swimming Athlete on Earth who was on the peak of his career. While he was driving home on his car, a huge truck suddenly slammed on his car, its driver apparently driving under influence of alcohol. His car was crushed by the impact, along with his body, then the car exploded. He couldn't be more dead.

Then he woke up on this strange world, with magic and monsters, a completely different world than Earth. Since he was reborn to a new life, he will live to his fullest and enjoy life once more.

"Anyways, should I go find a human city or should I live in this mansion? But then, I feel like I'm not a human anymore though…" Recalling about the magical abilities that he happened to possess, he had a feeling that he might have become something else, something more than just a human. He glanced at the five Demon Goblins and asked them a question. Although the Goblins are speaking using a different language than him, he can completely understand the Goblin's language and can speak it, as if by instinct.

"Hey, have you guys meet other humans? Do they have magical abilities like I do?"

"Master, we have indeed encountered other humans. Most of them have magical capabilities, but different from yours, Master."

"How different?"

"This… Master when we were enslaved and transformed by you, we also received information regarding your identity. You are different from those humans, Master."

"My identity? Tell me about the information you received during your transformations. How am I different from other humans?"

The goblins respectfully looked at him and replied, "Master, you are not human. You are… the Demon Lord."

"…"

Silence filled the surroundings and only the wind blowing the trees could be heard. A few moments later, Anton tried to process the information he just heard.

"…"

"Demon…Lord?"

"…Yes, Master."

"Are you kidding me?"

"No, Master. We wouldn't dare."

"…"

"Well… whatever. Demon Lord it is. I guess I can't go and live with humans, it seems. Do I really have to live in this mansion all alone? That sounds lonely…"

Anton looked at the five Demon Goblins and suddenly thought of something.

"Do you have other goblin friends? You guys can bring them here, the more the better. If I have a few more goblins to talk to, life would be a bit better, don't you think?"

"Understood, Master. We'll go and bring them now."

"Okay, I'll wait here inside the mansion. Hurry up and go."

"Yes, Master."

With that, the five Demon Goblins departed and he turned around to go inside the mansion.

"I should take a closer look at the mansion, I was out of it earlier and didn't look closely at the details of the mansion."

When he went inside, he looked up and felt at awe at how huge the mansion was. The ceiling was probably thirty meters tall, and there's a big chandelier with glowing stones engraved in it. The mansion has several rooms, the hall where he walked up to was only the start. When he explored inside, there are several more rooms to the back. There are bedrooms, empty halls, dinner room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and even a basement. The facilities are still working and seemingly ran by magic.

"Not bad. I guess I can live here."

He walked back to the front hall and noticed the magic summoning runic circle.

"Is this the thing that summoned me to this world?"

The magic summoning runic circle is a complicated pattern of symbols and runes. He felt like there are several dozen thousand lines compromising it and just staring at it could induce headaches. He stopped looking at it. At the far back, center portion of the hall, there is a chair, or to describe it more appropriately, a throne. It is made from an unknown black luxurious-looking precious stone. Its luster is intimidating yet alluring, as if it is casted out of black pearl. He went to the throne and sat there. He felt comfortable.

"This seat is not bad…"

He sat there and closed his eyes. He started pondering about his situation while resting for a few minutes. Minutes later he heard a commotion outside, as if the sound of a marketplace, with many talking voices. He stood up and went outside the mansion.

What greeted his sight were goblins, a lot of them. Leading in the front were the five Demon Goblins, which quickly greeted him on sight.

"Master, we have brought the goblins, there are a total of 1,072 of them. We all came from the same goblin tribe."

When the goblins saw him, all 1,072 of them bowed down and greeted him respectfully. Despite not being enslaved yet, they are already in awe of him due to the transformations that happened to the five Demon Goblins. When they heard that the identity of their Master was actually the Demon Lord, the entire goblin tribe couldn't help but beg the five Demon Goblins to bring them right away. They knew that this is a chance that comes only once every five hundred years, and it could change their fate from being ordinary goblins.

Anton started the procedures right away, he touched the nearest goblin and enslaved it, making it transform into a Demon Goblin in front of all the excited goblin tribe. Seeing the success of the first goblin, the rest couldn't help but get rowdy from excitement and amazement. Anton proceeded to enslave the 1,072 goblins, and a while later, a total of 1,077 Demon Goblins became his slaves. Looking at them, he gave them his orders.

"You can settle around the mansion and also hunt food for me. I'll take a rest first."

"Yes Master!" The Demon Goblins replied enthusiastically.

Anton went inside the mansion and strode right away to the bedroom. Although his Demon Lord body give him terrifying stamina, he was mentally exhausted. He couldn't recall how many times he was shocked after waking up today. He needed time to adjust his mental state and sleeping would at least alleviate his psychological well-being. He fell asleep right away after throwing his body to the bed.

While Anton is sleeping in the mansion, the Demon Goblins are quite busy building residential houses around the Demon Lord's Mansion. Several teams of Demon Goblins also went out to hunt for food. They plan to prepare a big feast for their master so many of them went out to look for ingredients and spices around the forest. A few others went back to their old goblin settlement to transfer their furniture, equipment, and other miscellaneous materials.
