Chapter 35 - Kurama, Nice to Meet You?

Uchiha Nan activated Susanoo.

A sapphire-blue chakra giant towered over the battlefield, a glowing blade forming in its hand as Nan looked down at Uzumaki Mito from above.

He could feel it—the overwhelming power surging through Susanoo.

The kind of strength that could topple mountains with a single movement.

Once you experienced this kind of power even once, it was impossible not to crave it.

"Damn it—come on, let's clash head-on!"

Nan swung Susanoo's blade again and again, massive arcs of chakra slicing through the forest toward Mito.

"COME ON!!!"

Inside the crimson chakra cloak, Uzumaki Mito's expression was ferocious.

This kind of battle?

She had been waiting for it.

She'd spent twenty years cultivating her temperament, but back in her prime on the battlefield, she'd been the kind of woman who punched a genin to death with a single blow. Violence was her creed.

Back when she married into the Senju clan, it wasn't only for political unity between the Uzumaki and Senju.

Another very real reason was this:

No one among the younger generation of the Uzumaki could beat her.

If a man couldn't even beat a woman in a fight, what kind of man was he?

A simple, straightforward moral code.

She'd heard that Senju Hashirama was strong. At first, she hadn't thought much of it—until the day she witnessed Wood Release blotting out the sky.

Fine. Marriage it was.

Didn't matter if they didn't know each other.

As long as the man was strong, feelings could be cultivated later.

That was the Warring States Era—customs were simple.

Mito's chakra grew even more violent. Two more tails burst forth from her back. Her posture dropped, limbs braced against the ground, her roar shattering loose stones into dust.

"Tailed Beast Bomb!"

One trick, used to perfection.

A pitch-black Tailed Beast Bomb formed—larger than before.

The blade wave and the Tailed Beast Bomb collided.

Blinding white light erupted, followed by thick, rolling smoke.

No injury thanks to smoke—classic rule activated.

Nan didn't let up for even a second, continuing to swing Susanoo's blade relentlessly.

Tailed Beast Bombs had cooldowns.

"KEEP GOING!!!"

"Didn't you enjoy shooting at me earlier?!"

Nan's voice was manic.

Being suppressed and bombarded by a woman like that—it pissed him off.

Mito tanked the massive blade waves, sprinting and leaping through the forest like a parkour master. Nan chased her relentlessly, hacking and cleaving from above like a towering hunter driving a fox into a corner.

As she fled, Mito continued squeezing chakra from the Nine-Tails without mercy.

Kurama was a being of pure chakra—draining its chakra was no different from draining its life.

About a minute later, Mito finally felt her "mana bar" fill completely.

With a deafening fox-like roar, the Nine-Tails' true form emerged.

A massive demonic fox, nearly as tall as Susanoo itself, appeared on the battlefield.

Nan dashed forward without hesitation.

Chasing her earlier had been satisfying, sure—but it hadn't caused real damage.

Now this?

A target this big wasn't going anywhere.

Nan's strike came down with overwhelming force.

Mito raised both claws to block, barely holding on as her tails whipped around like battering rams, slamming into Susanoo again and again—nearly knocking Nan senseless.

Seizing the moment Nan staggered, Mito lunged forward, sinking her fangs into Susanoo's shoulder.

The pain transmitted directly.

Nan grimaced and kicked the Nine-Tails square in the stomach, abandoning the chakra blade entirely.

He grabbed Kurama's head with one hand—

—and shoved the other straight into its mouth.

Right down the throat.

Gag reflex, go!

Mito felt something jammed into her throat and was hit with an overwhelming urge to vomit.

She hadn't felt something like this since Hashirama died.

She leapt back from Susanoo in disgust, reset her stance—and the two giants crashed into each other again.

Now it was pure brawling.

Punches. Kicks. Eye-gouging. Groin strikes.

No techniques spared.

It looked like a street brawl between drunken thugs—except if you tossed a genin into that mess, they'd be instantly reduced to paste.

The shockwaves flattened everything for several kilometers around.

The spectators, having learned their lesson, had already fled far away. From a safe distance, they stared in awe and terror.

A battle between two giants tens of meters tall was simply overwhelming.

This wasn't "Kage-level."

This was beyond Kage.

Nan slammed a fist into Kurama's face. Kurama bit down on Susanoo's arm in response.

Their strength was evenly matched—no clear winner in sight.

This won't work.

Mito had the Nine-Tails inside her. In a battle of endurance, she clearly had the advantage.

Nan needed another approach.

His gaze shifted inward—to the Nine-Tails itself.

The Mangekyō Sharingan had an absolute suppressive effect on wild tailed beasts.

But sealed beasts were different. Locked behind a jinchūriki's control, like being shut inside a dark cell.

Direct domination was far weaker.

Still…

Using Mangekyō chakra to communicate with a tailed beast?

That should be possible.

At least, Nan thought it was worth trying.

He lunged forward, grabbing the Nine-Tails with both hands and pressing his forehead close to its head.

Mangekyō chakra pierced through the chakra cloak and entered Mito's eyes.

A strand of Nan's consciousness was pulled into the sealing space.

The interior wasn't what Nan remembered from the anime.

No dark prison.

No iron bars.

No massive gate.

Instead—

A vast, crimson world.

This was a deeper layer of Kurama's consciousness.

"Another evil little Uchiha brat?"

Kurama's voice echoed.

Its massive form loomed over Nan, hatred burning in its eyes.

That familiar Mangekyō chakra made its instincts scream in revulsion.

Seals could only siphon a tailed beast's power.

But Mangekyō Sharingan?

That could directly seize a tailed beast's will.

Back then, Uchiha Madara had forced his way into this very space, beaten Kurama senseless, and enslaved it completely.

Now—another Uchiha had arrived.

And one with Mangekyō.

Memories of being treated like livestock flooded back.

To Madara, all tailed beasts were the same—beasts of burden, tools meant to be ruled.

Hashirama hadn't been much better…

At least he spoke nicely. Even praised them.

"Kurama, your power is incredible!"

Yeah. Real comforting.

Kurama forcibly cut off those memories.

Not pleasant to recall.

Now it stared down at Nan, rage simmering—but it didn't dare strike.

The trauma Madara had left behind was too deep.

In front of Mangekyō Sharingan, tailed beasts were fundamentally restrained.

Kurama couldn't move rashly.

Nan frowned slightly.

Evil Uchiha brat?

What is this—did Tobirama teach you that line?

Faced with this ill-mannered giant fox, Nan decided not to lower himself.

After all, he was about to ask for Kurama's help.

He smiled.

"Kurama," Nan said calmly,

"nice to meet you."

Kurama's pupils shrank instantly.
