Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Curtain Call

In the heart of Tipoca City, within the Doctrinal District, a mobile command center had been hastily established to supplement the existing buildings and factory management systems.

Dozens of Kaminoans and Clone Troopers were stationed at their respective posts. Some manned the control and communication stations, while others kept a close watch on the massive tactical display screens. These screens tracked the real-time deployment of Clone Trooper units, fire hotspots, and areas of structural damage.

At that moment, the alarm signals were not intensifying but gradually weakening, and the first rays of victory were beginning to shine through.

Master Shaak Ti finally breathed a sigh of relief.

A report came in from the last remaining outpost in Tipoca City: the remaining battle droids had been completely eradicated.

The surviving vessels of the Separatist Alliance had fled the Kamino system. This brutal battle could finally be declared over.

"We've won, Prime Minister Su," Shaak Ti said, turning to the Kaminoan leader. Her solemn expression finally softened.

Lama Su bowed deeply, his voice filled with gratitude. "Without your assistance, Kamino would have ceased to exist. But now, please excuse me. I must immediately attend to the treatment of the wounded and the repair of damaged equipment."

Shaak Ti asked gravely, "What are our losses?"

"Several groups of apprentices failed to evacuate in time, and some of the younger clone troopers were tragically killed—some were forced to take up arms prematurely." The Kaminoan crossed his arms, his expression sorrowful. "The incubation chambers were also severely damaged; some were damaged, and one was completely destroyed. Conservatively estimating, we lost approximately two hundred thousand second-generation clones and two million third-generation clones."

Shaak Ti sighed heavily.

The third-generation clones were still in the test tube stage, while the second-generation clones—were still children, mostly aged eight to ten, with a few as old as twelve to fourteen. She couldn't help but think of the younglings at the Jedi Temple.

Yet even these children were forced onto the battlefield.

The city corridors were littered with corpses in blue robes—not all of them belonging to mature clone warriors—

For the defense of Kamino, the Jedi had long been prepared.

The reinforcements included an enormous fleet: forty-five Acclamator-class assault ships, twenty-five Venator-class Star Destroyers, and over a hundred frigates and light frigates. Nearly seven thousand fighters stood ready, guarding the skies over this watery world.

Two legions of ground forces deployed across the planet's surface, while three regiments of combat frogmen were tasked with defending the city's underwater facilities.

According to the plan, the Separatist fleet should have been intercepted in space, preventing their robot forces from landing.

However, the situation rapidly deteriorated.

Although the Separatist fleet did emerge from hyperspace at the expected location, and some Republic captains initiated bombardment a few seconds early, covering the enemy with fire the moment they appeared, Separatist ships continued to pour out of hyperspace in a steady stream. The Trade Federation alone contributed over sixteen Lucrehulk-class battleships, while the main assault force consisted of forty-one Defiant-class cruisers and one hundred and twenty Munificent-class frigates.

Numerous Jedi Knights arrived with the fleet, piloting their Jedi fighters into battle. However, the Separatists' modified Defiant-class cruisers, equipped with powerful ion cannons, shattered the balance. Lancis seized command of the fleet.

Above Kamino, a world-shaking battle erupted.

The ships bombarded each other at extreme range, while tens of thousands of Droid Fighters and Hyena Bombers clashed with thousands of V-19 Torrent Fighters and over a dozen Jedi Delta-7 interceptors.

Aayla Secura led Blue Squadron, focusing on protecting the Republic ships from the swarming bombers.

Clone pilots flew V-19 and ARC-170 fighters with all their might, fighting for their home.

Kit Fisto's White Squadron attempted to break through to the Separatist transport ships but failed.

Under control station orders, Separatist robot fighters launched suicide attacks.

Many Jedi, including Kit Fisto, were injured or forced to withdraw from orbit. The battle gradually spread into the planet's atmosphere.

At this stage, Jedi Master Kosek of the Weequay species was tragically killed. She had drawn away several Droid Fighters to protect Anakin's fighter, but couldn't evade a missile fired by a Hyena Bomber.

Soon, Lucrehulk-class warships, protected by other vessels, began deploying landing forces.

Hundreds of C-9979 landing craft and drop pods arrived at Tipoca City, disgorging tens of thousands of battle droids, including newly developed underwater droids.

Hundreds of amphibious fighters piloted by Mon Calamari who had defected to the Separatists also joined the attack, their commander having turned traitor along with them.

Kit Fisto and the remnants of his squadron attempted to intercept, but their fighters were damaged and crashed into the water.

Fortunately, the aquatic environment was more familiar to him, and the Master survived, though he could no longer continue fighting.

The surface battle officially began.

The Kamino Defense Force provided underwater support, coordinating with combat frogmen.

Across the city and along the critical routes to the factories, hundreds of battle zones erupted simultaneously.

The Clone Troopers stubbornly resisted the advancing enemy. Nearly a hundred thousand infantrymen, a formidable force, would have been capable of holding the line against standard battle droids alone.

However, the Separatist landing forces included underwater droids armed with powerful blaster cannons, Destroyer Droids, and Infiltrator Droids, making the battle extraordinarily difficult.

Within the city limits, heavy equipment like walkers and artillery couldn't be used, forcing the clone troopers to defend their positions to the death, falling one by one as they paid for every minute of delay with their blood.

Robots piled up by the hundreds and thousands with each meter of ground they gained.

Even so, the enemy continued to advance, and the battle quickly spread deep into the corridors of Tipoca City—

At that moment, Shaak Ti personally witnessed the formidable combat prowess of Alpha-Class ARC clone troopers.

She had to temporarily leave Command and rush to a training hall where second-generation clone children were gathered. About two hundred robots had infiltrated the area, and all the defending clone troopers had been killed, leaving the children facing imminent slaughter.

Warrior Dogen arrived in time to support them, using the Force to push back the nearest robots and drawing the enemy's attention to himself, buying time for the Kaminoans to evacuate the children.

Shaak Ti and Rick Dagon fought desperately, killing enemies at a furious pace. Just as their strength was about to give out, five clone troopers entered the room through a ceiling maintenance hatch.

They wore standard clone armor, but it was augmented with additional components, painted primarily in blue, and they carried non-standard weapons.

In just a few seconds, they annihilated all the remaining robots without sustaining a single casualty.

Alpha-Class ARC Clones.

They even displayed excessive initiative, offering their own opinions on everything and daring to speak their minds openly.

For them, the only authority was the genetic template, Jango Fett.

Shaak Ti could sense the deep grief these clones felt upon learning of Jango Fett's death in battle.

Soon, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin joined the battle in Tipoca City.

Their fighters had crashed in the sea near the city, and the Kaminoans used an "Eva" to ferry them to safety.

Shaak Ti accompanied them to the underwater section of the city, protecting the Third-Generation Clones from robot attacks, accompanied by the elite ARC Clone Alpha-19.

Recalling the moment during the battle when the robots nearly breached the incubation chambers, Shaak Ti still felt a shiver of fear. At that critical moment, Alpha-19 entered self-destruct codes into a special device and explained, "Jango's orders. We can't let the Clone Army fall into the hands of villains. They must either grow into warriors loyal to the Republic—or never grow up at all."

Fortunately, after a fierce resistance, they managed to blow up a section of the underwater corridor, successfully halting the enemy's advance. Alpha-19 also disengaged its self-destruct mechanism.

Master Togruta thanked him, but he simply shrugged. "Tsk, no need to thank me. I wasn't doing it for you; I was just following orders."

Meanwhile, Solo Victor reorganized all combat formations and launched a counterattack against the Separatist ships.

Leading all squadrons, he piloted his Delta-7 fighter and performed aerial miracles, with Ahsoka Tano particularly outstanding.

A successful raid severely damaged the Separatist flagship, allowing Meraji to escape in an amphibious fighter.

Pursued by Solo and Ahsoka, Meraji engaged Solo in a desperate dogfight, resulting in the destruction of both their fighters and Meraji's death.

Under Solo's interception, over three-quarters of the Separatist fleet was destroyed.

The Republic also paid a heavy price, losing over fifty ships, including half of the Acclamator-class and dozens of Venator-class vessels. But ultimately, victory belonged to the Republic.

Kamino was saved, and the Republic's clone trooper production could continue.

Shaak Ti turned to a Kaminoan female staff member and ordered, "Summon all Jedi to the main hall—we need to report the battle results to the Council."

Count Dooku gazed at Darth Sidious's holographic projection, his voice tinged with regret. "My Master, everything is progressing according to plan. However, I'm saddened by the loss of Meraji, such a rare talent."

"The galaxy is never short on talented lives," Darth Sidious replied, his voice impassive. "There will always be those willing to serve our goals."

"Yes, Master, but I didn't expect the one who killed him."

"Oh? Who is it?"

"The Jedi Knight who thwarted my Apprentice—Solo Victor!"

"Hmm... him? Now that's unexpected. This is becoming increasingly intriguing."

"Indeed, but the Jedi failed to completely annihilate the Separatist fleet this time."

"Expecting a single battle to end everything was foolish from the start," Darth Sidious said, nodding with satisfaction. "We're playing a game of exquisite subtlety, requiring absolute balance—and that balance has been restored in the waters of Kamino. The Separatists' advantages have sunk to the bottom, Meraji is dead, and Kamino continues to churn out Clone Troopers endlessly. No, this war is far from over. This is only the beginning."

The holographic projection dissipated, and Count Dooku smiled with satisfaction.

Everything was under control.

But he had no time to revel in his victory. As the leader of the Separatist movement, countless urgent matters awaited his attention.

Inside the Jedi Temple, Master Yoda quietly listened to Oppo Rancisis's holographic report.

"Kamino is secure," Rancisis stated. "I'm certain the Separatists won't dare to attack again so recklessly. We'll leave a protective fleet there, and new vessels will be replenished soon."

Yoda spoke slowly, "Master, you seem troubled."

"It's all because of General Meraji of Mon Calamari," Rancisis said, his brow furrowing slightly. "I know him well and his capabilities. He's an exceptional soldier, but this attack was planned far too hastily. It's completely unlike him. Why would he launch such a campaign? And under whose orders?"

Yoda sighed heavily. "Our future grows increasingly shrouded in mist. The Dark Side obscures our vision."

"Master, what should we do with these new clone troopers?"

"Hmm. These clone troopers have proven to be exceptional warriors. We must make good use of their talents."

"Then I will inform Shaak Ti to allocate these clone troopers to the sectors most in need of such experts."

Yoda nodded in agreement. "Let it be done."

Padmé Amidala was awakened by C-3PO's voice.

"Madam Amidala! Madam Amidala!"

She rubbed her eyes, still half-asleep. "What is it, 3P0?"

The golden protocol droid waved his arms excitedly. "News from Master Anakin!"

"Show me immediately!" Padmé snapped awake, a surge of urgency flooding her.

A holographic projection materialized in the air, Anakin's figure appearing clearly. His voice carried its usual buoyant enthusiasm: "Darling Padmé! I long to see you and hold you tight! But not for much longer—we'll be reunited soon.

"Obi-Wan, the other Jedi, and I successfully repelled the Separatist attack on Kamino—don't worry, I wasn't in any danger at all. I just had a little swim in the local sea"—the aquatic life there is quite similar to Naboo's underwater world.

In short, we'll be back on Coruscant soon, and we'll see each other then.

Kissing you.

"Oh, Anni—" Padmé smiled involuntarily, her eyes softening. "Still the same stubborn boy, rushing headlong into danger yet trying to reassure me."

In the night-shrouded Coruscant, thousands of colorful lights traced the city's silhouette.

Padmé lay on her bed, a smile lingering on her face even in sleep.

On the bedside table, a holographic projector emitted a faint glow, illuminating her features.

Within the projection, Anakin Skywalker smiled gently at her.

Prime Minister Lama Su of Kamino entered her office, confirmed the door was securely closed, and pressed a hidden button on the wall.

A concealed door slowly swung open. She traversed the corridor and entered a cramped secret chamber, its center dominated by a holographic projector.

After activating the call signal, she waited quietly for a response.

Soon, a figure shrouded in a black cloak materialized in the holographic projection.

"Prime Minister."

"Lord Terranas."

"The Jedi repelled the Separatist attack, but I heard that some Third-Generation Clone cultivation facilities were damaged."

"Yes, Lord Terranas."

"I will compensate you fully for your losses." Terranas waved dismissively. "I can assure you that the Senate will soon vote to approve the procurement of an additional twenty million Clone Troopers. That should meet your needs, correct?"

"Entirely, Lord Terranas." Lama Su bowed deeply. "May our collaboration always remain so fruitful."

"Undoubtedly."

The holographic projection dissipated.
