Chapter 3 - beginning

Beginning

One full month after Jin entered the world…

Inside one of the Association's offices — a side conversation between employees

Employee 1:

Did you see that kid who came out of the Gate?

Employee 2:

Of course. He's incredible. He mastered the language and adapted to this world in just one month! Hahaha.

Employee 1:

Weren't you the one saying he was a monster disguised as a human? Hahaha!

Employee 2:

Shut up, you idiot!

Investigator Park's Office

The investigator lifted his head from behind his desk and looked at the boy sitting across from him.

Investigator Park:

Are you ready to step into the world, Jin?

Jin:

Yes, Investigator… but honestly, I don't know what I should do after that.

The investigator smiled calmly.

Investigator Park:

That's fine. With your capabilities, you'll become an excellent Hunter.

Jin:

That's good. The Association can't support me forever, right?

(chuckles lightly)

Investigator Park:

Your Hunter license and your new identity will be issued this evening. You can leave right after.

That Evening

Jin stood quietly, examining the card in his hands.

Jin:

B-rank Hunter…

Name: Kim Suho.

His expression stiffened slightly.

Jin:

It looks fine, but… where did my real name go?

The investigator burst out laughing.

Investigator Park:

A special ID under your real name will be issued later. What matters now is that you have a Korean identity so you can live normally.

Suho… how about enrolling in an academy?

Suho:

Huh? There are still magic academies in this era too?!

Investigator Park:

Hahaha, yes. They operate almost the same way as in your world. You'll meet people around your age.

I know you don't need it to grow stronger, but integration into society is important.

Suho thought for a few seconds, then smiled.

Suho:

Alright, it might be fun.

And also… I'm sorry, Investigator, but I don't think I'll work with the Association for now. I'd rather be on my own.

Investigator Park:

What matters most is that you do what feels right to you, kid.

He handed him a key and a card.

Investigator Park:

This is the key to your apartment, and a bank card issued by the government. All Gate Survivors receive one.

Contact me anytime if you need help.

Suho:

Thank you very much… you've helped me a lot.

Later — In Front of the Association President's Office

Inside the office, a man sat behind an elegant desk, his back to the door, gazing out the window.

His powerful build and dignified presence radiated silent authority.

It was the Association President — Baek Joo-hyun.

Investigator Park:

You treated that boy kindly, President. It seems he caught your interest.

President Joo-hyun:

I saw his potential with my own eyes…

That boy must not be allowed to stray from his path.

Investigator Park:

I can't argue with your judgment.

I hope he becomes a great asset to our country.

Suho's Apartment — Night

Suho opened the door and looked around with admiration.

Suho:

A nice place… and the bathroom is amazing.

Taking a bath in my world was a real struggle.

(a wry smile)

He glanced at his phone, then at the date.

Suho:

One month left until the semester begins…

I'll leave the entrance exam for the weekend.

Should I go to the Tower now?

In Front of the Tower — Central Seoul

Suho stood before the towering structure.

He wore a black shirt and pants, along with a long coat of the same color.

In his left hand was a new sword of a familiar design—

a sword from the world of Murim.

He raised his head and looked up.

Suho:

Alright… shall we begin?

(an eager smile)

He stepped into the Tower, and his body vanished into the light.

First Floor — Starting City

He opened his eyes to find himself inside a massive, fully developed city—

buildings, roads, and even natural landscapes.

Suho:

What is this…?

A whole city?! This is amazing!

Suddenly, a translucent window appeared before him.

Suho:

What's this?

Is this the system they told me about?

His gaze stopped at the traits.

Suho:

Dark Element…

This is different from black magic. It doesn't require dark mana or demonic energy…

So that explains how I was able to use it.

Then he smiled.

Suho:

Sixth Sense…

Looks like the sensory perception I gained from spreading my energy outward.

He let out a sigh.

Suho:

Everything makes sense, but… I'll need to learn a proper sword style in the future.

His eyes paused on two lines.

Suho:

"Superhuman Mind" and "Overwhelming Swordsmanship"…

Is the system praising me?

(an embarrassed yet proud smile)

[System]:

Would you like to enter the player's first Trial?

Suho slowly raised his sword.

Suho:

Let's begin.
