In the days that followed, a renewed energy dawned on the village. The academy instructors, enthusiastic about the meeting they had with Daigo, began to organize the new classes. Rumors about Daigo's "New Protocol" spread quickly among the students, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition.

Daigo, for his part, personally oversaw the first phase of the construction of the new library. The place would be more than just a book warehouse; it would be a center of knowledge where the history of ninja techniques and classified information would be available to those who demonstrated the loyalty and capability to improve the future of the village.

However, progress brought with it a major problem: security. How could he prevent a spy from entering, absorbing the knowledge, and escaping without a trace? Daigo knew that information was a double-edged sword, and he already had an idea to secure that center.

While he was supervising the workers moving heavy sandstone blocks, he ran into Karinna, who was watching him from afar. She approached with her usual air of serenity, although her eyes scanned the construction disorder with a clinical eye.

"It seems the village doesn't have a day of rest with you," said Karinna, looking at Daigo.

"I don't think that's bad. Little by little we will finish all the projects. Although, thanks to the fact that you are here, I have a job for you if you're interested," asked Daigo.

"Daigo, you already have me doing so many jobs and now you want to give me another one. In reality, you never get tired of working," said Karinna with a pout toward Daigo, who only smiled.

"Well, I'll have to look for someone else for the job since you are very busy. I thought you would be perfect for this job," said Daigo in a fake voice of sadness that made Karinna sigh at his tactics to give her more work.

"Alright, tell me what work you need this time," said Karinna, resigned.

"In the new academy program, I want you to teach fuinjutsu to those who are interested. You will have a good salary, so you won't have to worry much about that," explained Daigo.

"Being a fuinjutsu teacher doesn't sound bad, although there is a problem: I still don't know everything completely and I barely reach the low-master level. How am I going to teach?" asked Karinna, confused.

"Go little by little. I doubt many of the children are interested in fuinjutsu; maybe you'll have at most two students," replied Daigo.

"Alright, I'll do it, although please don't ask me for more things for a while. I feel like I'm going to go bald from so much work," she said.

"I'll try. Ah, I remembered: in a few days Baki will finish his recovery from the operation. You can come with a chakra-blocking seal in case something goes wrong," said Daigo.

"I have no choice, right?" she asked.

"No. Sasori will let you know when the day comes."

Thus, Daigo disappeared, continuing his supervision of different projects, leaving Karinna with her mind full of new academic plans and the imminent responsibility of Baki's surgery.

Three days later, the underground laboratory beneath the Sunagakure hospital. The white lights bounced off the metallic walls, creating a sterile atmosphere where the silence was interrupted only by the hum of the life support systems.

In the center of the room, Baki was sitting on the gurney; his breathing was heavy. His hands, resting on his knees, clenched into fists every time the sharp pain behind his eyes threatened to overwhelm him.

Daigo was there, watching from the corner. He did not intervene, as he trusted Sasori and Karinna, but his presence was a reminder to both of them that if they needed his help, they should call him.

Sasori was checking Baki's chakra levels, while Karinna was finalizing the details of the seal that had to save the ninja's life due to a miscalculation they hadn't foreseen.

"Alright, Baki," said Sasori, without looking up from his monitors. "You know what to do. Activate the vision. But this time, don't try to force it to the maximum. We only want to measure the drain."

Baki nodded. He concentrated, and with an effort that tensed the muscles in his neck, he focused his chakra toward his eyes, activating the Byakugan. His veins bulged.

The world turned white, sharp, and geometric. But instantly, the pain returned, more violent than before. The eye, a biological entity foreign to his system, screamed for chakra, sucking Baki's energy like a black hole.

"It's too much!" Baki said, with a broken voice. "I can't stop it! It's grabbing too much chakra from me!"

"Now, Karinna!" ordered Sasori.

Karinna moved with the speed of lightning. Her fingers, impregnated with chakra-conducting ink, landed on the back of Baki's neck.

She didn't hesitate. The seal, a complex structure she had designed to obstruct the main channels, was etched onto Baki's skin with a bluish glow that faded almost as quickly as it appeared.

The effect was immediate. The white vision turned off. Baki fell forward, gasping, with the sensation that a part of his brain had been abruptly disconnected from his chakra. The silence that followed his gasping was absolute.

"We did it," announced Karinna, wiping sweat from her forehead. "The flow of chakra to the optic nerves is blocked completely. It's a total containment. Baki, you will no longer be able to use the Byakugan."

Baki looked up, feeling his normal vision, weak and blurry, returning to reality. "It's as if they had torn my eyes out again," he admitted, although the peace he felt in his head was immense. "But at least I don't feel like I'm going to die anymore and my reserves seem stable."

"So you won't be able to use the Byakugan for a while, Baki, because if you use it, you're at risk of your chakra reserves depleting and you dying," explained Karinna.

"For now, you are a common ninja," said Sasori, putting his instruments away. "But don't get used to it. Karinna and I have drawn up the plans for a regulating seal, a valve that will allow you to activate and deactivate this capability under your control. In the meantime, your duty is to strengthen yourself physically. If you don't have chakra to control your body, you won't have a chance to use the gift Daigo gave you."

Daigo approached and placed a hand on Baki's shoulder. "Trust them. You will have the use of the Byakugan soon; lucky that I warned you about the chakra, otherwise Baki would have gone to the other side."

"I don't want to hear it. I'm tired, please don't do any more crazy things without being prepared, because I feel like if I keep going like this, I'll also go to the other side," said Karinna, looking at Daigo.

"I'll try."

Thus, with Baki stable without the risk of dying, Daigo left, and Baki was able to return to resting his eyes along with his mind from the strong pains.

Later, in the Kazekage's office, the sun was beginning to set behind the dunes. Daigo was seated; his eyes fixed on the view of the village until he felt Rasa's presence behind him, turning around to observe him.

"I see you had a good trip back to Suna."

"It's always good to return to Sunagakure, Daigo. Well, what did you need me for so urgently?" asked Rasa.

"I wanted to talk to you about the ANBU. What do you think of it?" asked Daigo, looking serious.

"In reality, it's something necessary for the village. I remember when Sensei put me in a squad so I could gain experience, although I feel it could be improved," said Rasa.

Daigo, who listened to Rasa's opinion, nodded. "I agree with you on that. I want to improve the infrastructure of the ANBU. That is why I have brought you here."

"Eh, Daigo, I doubt I can help you with that. I don't know much about... and besides, I don't have power over the ANBU; only the ANBU commander could help you with that," replied Rasa.

"That is the problem. There is no commander currently. The one in charge of everything regarding the ANBU is me, so I need a commander and I want it to be you," said Daigo, looking at Rasa. "You will have total authority to purge, to train, and to execute if necessary. I want the ANBU to be the invisible arm that protects this village, and you will be the brain of that arm."

Rasa felt the weight of the responsibility fall upon his shoulders. "Eh, Daigo, I appreciate all the trust you have in me, but I don't think I am worthy of being the ANBU commander."

"Why not? What do you think you're missing?"

At that question from Daigo, Rasa seemed to think for a minute. It was the silence in the room until he seemed to reach a conclusion.

"I would say that being on the darker side of the ninja world... I had been preparing almost my whole life to be the Kazekage until you appeared, so I don't think I will do a good job at what you are looking for," said Rasa.

"You are making excuses for yourself. You prepared yourself, now I am the Kage. You know politics even better than I do; I can even say you are the right person to do it," said Daigo.

"Do you accept or will I have to continue taking care of both?" asked Daigo.

"I will accept if you want that much, Daigo, although I have a request," said Rasa.

"My ears are open," responded Daigo.

"I will accept with the condition of remaining in the village for the majority of the time," said Rasa.

"May I know the reason for that request?"

"Well, it's that Karura is pregnant and my first child will be born towards the end of this year, so I want to be there for her. Besides, I want to propose marriage," said Rasa with a calm smile.

At this, Daigo just got up from his chair to give Rasa a hug.

"Congratulations, Rasa. Don't worry, I accept your condition. I hope Karura is happy with this job position that you will have," said Daigo.

"I think the same. I found out a little while ago and I didn't know how to tell you," said Rasa.

"You know, Rasa, I think I have never told you, but I'm glad you are here. You are a help and an important figure for the village, but also as a friend, so don't doubt asking me or telling me something without the pressure that I am the Kage. I also have to see the birth of my first niece."

"Eh, niece? You also think it will be a girl?" asked Rasa.

"If you want to bet something," asked Daigo.

"What do you think of a month of vacation if it's a boy?" asked Rasa.

"If it's a girl, you owe me a month of vacation," said Daigo.

Thus, both shook hands, finalizing the bet.

Kilometers away, the wind lashed the walls that protected the city of Kanzaki, which seemed to be more active than ever.

Although in the main tower, in one of the rooms, Pakura was looking at a letter that had arrived a few days ago.

She hadn't opened it; she just kept it, knowing who it was from: Daigo. But that made it more difficult to do so. She didn't want to know what he had written.

She regretted what she had said to Daigo that day. She better than anyone knew all the weight that Daigo was carrying at that moment, and she couldn't keep her mouth shut and wait for the right moment.

And it hurt her more when she gave him a slap in the face just out of anger in the moment.

Although that wasn't the only thing, since when she was going to apologize for what she did and didn't find him, she received the news from Rasa that Daigo had returned to Suna and he didn't look well.

That was the final point that made Pakura feel completely guilty. Looking at the letter again, she let out a sigh as deep as possible, already imagining the words that were written.

Afterward, she opened it and began to read:

Letter:

"Hello Ura-Chan, I know you were expecting something bad and that I would treat you poorly, but I would never do that. I want you to do me a big favor and forget all that discussion we had as if it never happened, since I feel that neither of us ended up happy after that.

I also want to tell you that thanks to the fact that I returned to Sunagakure, I was able to think things through better and now I am advancing the village in a more organized way with everyone working toward a good path. The academy changed greatly, as well as many things that I would like to bring you to see, but you are the person I trust most to take care of Kanzaki.

Now, I know you will want to return, but don't do it soon. After I finish getting everything ready, I will go on the training journey with the elephants and I will be gone for about two years, so we won't see each other until I return.

I left you attached to the letter a scroll with ideas on how to improve your Shakuton and stop depending so much on the heat spheres. I hope you use it.

From Daigo"

That was the letter that made Pakura feel a warmth in her heart that the Shakuton never managed to create.

The guilt she was carrying vanished a little, although it wouldn't go away until she saw him in person, but she was happy that he had forgiven her.

Getting up from the table and looking at herself in the mirror, she noticed that she had neglected herself a little from being locked up.

So with new spirits, she began to get ready for the new day and to show Daigo that she wouldn't waste his ideas.
