"It looks like I need to get more serious," Daigo said as he activated the Second Breath of the Seven Heavens.
The air around him vibrated slightly, as if the world itself had to adjust to the new rhythm of his breathing.
"Any strategy you've got?" Baki asked, keeping his sword in guard while watching the swordsman in front of them.
"Yes don't use wind chakra attacks since his sword will absorb them and take advantage when he leaves a gap in his defense," Daigo replied before charging forward again.
He knew Fuguki Suikazan was a strong opponent, but the most dangerous thing there wasn't the swordsman it was the sword.
Samehada.
As its name suggested, it was a sword that devoured chakra and could share it with its wielder a very dangerous weapon.
Though Daigo didn't know exactly how much it could consume or what its true limits were.
Normally if he remembered correctly he had never seen it absorb a solid jutsu like earth techniques; it was always wind, fire, or water.
His thoughts moved quickly while he ran.
"So I'll have to test it."
Approaching Fuguki, Daigo threw a direct punch to the torso.
The swordsman reacted with surprising speed raising Samehada to block it.
The clash produced a dry sound. But that was exactly what Daigo had expected.
Using the blocked arm as support, he spun his body and launched a brutal kick that slammed into Fuguki's face. The swordsman staggered back half a step while the ground rose beneath his feet.
Without stopping, Daigo chained two more heavy, rapid strikes. Though Fuguki blocked both with Samehada.
Daigo didn't press knowing someone else would continue behind him. He leaped back retreating from the area to observe how Baki took advantage of the opportunity, just as he tough him
Just as Daigo had instructed, Baki didn't use chakra in his sword. Instead, he concentrated chakra in his own body reinforcing muscles and speed.
His figure blurred. With a quick movement, he unleashed a slash that struck directly against Samehada.
The sword vibrated violently, but didn't absorb anything.
Allowing Baki to continue the exchange. Still, it quickly became clear.
Perhaps Fuguki wasn't the fastest or physically strongest, but his mastery with the sword was terrifying.
After all, he was one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.
With precise and brutal movements, he pushed Baki back forcing him to prioritize defense.
Samehada struck like a living mass of steel and teeth Baki knew that if it hit directly, it wouldn't cut, it would tear everything in its path.
Baki barely managed to deflect the attacks holding out long enough for Daigo to intervene and he didn't take long to step in again.
But this time he wanted to confirm something.
"Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet."
The ground in front of Daigo rose violently. An earth dragon emerged from the sand. But instead of charging directly at Fuguki, the creature opened its massive mud mouth. And fired.
Dozens of mud bullets shot out at high speed toward Fuguki and also toward Baki.
Baki immediately understood the intention. He leaped out of the wayusing the jutsu as cover.
Now only Fuguki remained in front of the attack the swordsman smiled.
Samehada spun in his hands and, with rapid movements, the sword began cutting through all the mud bullets.
Each impact produced a wet sound as the sword devoured the chakra mixed into the jutsu.
Daigo noticed it. Samehada seemed slightly larger.
"Thanks for the chakra," Fuguki said with a twisted smile. "You thought since it was earth, Samehada couldn't absorb it."
Daigo shrugged. "Yeah. It was just a test. It's quite annoying your sword but I have a lot more than earth jutsu to attack you with."
Fuguki let out a hoarse laugh, Samehada wriggled in his hands like a hungry animal.
"The taste of earth is a bit dry for Samehada but it wouldn't mind if you gave it more."
The massive sword spun with terrifying ease.
"Let's see if this is more your style."
Fuguki performed a quick one-handed seal while keeping guard with the other.
The air changed.
Despite Pakura having dried the environment with her Scorch Release, a heavy humidity began to fill the battlefield.
"Suiton: Kujira no Gekitotsu (Water Release: Whale Collision)."
The ground began to vibrate. Water surged violently from the dry earth gathering in the air. The shape of an enormous whale formed above their heads.
Then it began to fall from the sky. The gigantic water creature descended like a meteor.
"Baki run!" Daigo shouted starting to run to escape the jutsu. But Baki didn't move. His muscles wouldn't respond.
As the whale fell faster and faster, Daigo turned at full speed and in an instant appeared beside Baki grabbing him by the shoulder and throwing himself out of the jutsu's area.
The whale crashed into the ground.
A massive explosion of water expanded in all directions putting out the fire from the former camp along with the debris.
When the water finally calmed, Daigo set Baki down on the ground while the latter breathed heavily.
"Thanks for getting me out of there my body wouldn't obey me," Baki said to Daigo.
Fuguki who was safe from his own jutsu walked calmly toward them with a smile.
"It's a shame your companion saved you. My jutsu would have torn you to pieces."
Daigo narrowed his eyes feeling that Fuguki must have done something to make Baki unable to move.
Baki began checking his body. Suddenly he found it.
"I've got it."
He pulled out a small orange needle embedded in his leg.
Fuguki smiled.
"They found me. My hair doesn't just harden it also carries a paralyzing poison." He shrugged. "It doesn't matter much it's just to finish faster. My enemies don't get past that and end up dead."
"Thanks for the information. Anything else you want to say about the poison?" Daigo asked trying to get more information though it seemed Fuguki understood he wanted to extract more.
With quick hand seals, Daigo created an earth clone which took Baki and carried him toward Pakura and the others.
Fuguki watched the scene without intervening since he saw no value in Baki.
After finishing Daigo, he'd go finish the rest.
Now his gaze focused completely on Daigo his only current opponent.
"You're the strongest in the group?" Fuguki ask
"That's right I'm the strongest so don't worry, they won't interrupt," Daigo said.
"Perfect because now I'm really going to tear you apart. Samehada and I are getting tired of playing with you."
"Why do you always say that? Why don't you just go for the kill from the beginning? It's more interesting this way," Daigo said.
"I could ask you the same you've been holding back from the start. I can tell," Fuguki replied.
Daigo nodded at his words though he said nothing only forming hand seals before touching the ground.
This made Fuguki go on guard for an earth jutsu though to his surprise, nothing happened.
A second later, the air around him began to fracture like the sound of thousands of mirrors breaking at the same time.
"Shōton: Suishō Hanazono no Kōgeki (Crystal Release: Crystal Garden Coffin)."
The ground beneath Fuguki changed the earth transformed into shining pink crystal.
The swordsman's legs were trapped. More crystals grew like flowers climbing up his body beginning to encase him.
Fuguki reacted quickly raising Samehada to devour the chakra of the crystal though something was different from before.
Samehada emitted a metallic shriek. It couldn't absorb it.
CRACK!
The crystal spines pierced Fuguki's shoulders and thighs. Making him scream "What is this?!" Seeing how blood began sliding down the crystal facets.
"This isn't earth! Samehada absorb it!" Fuguki shouted again desperation clear in his voice knowing that if he didn't free himself, death would take him.
Though to add more to his horror, Daigo appeared in front of him.
"That's right this isn't earth. I doubt Samehada can absorb it," Daigo said with a smile. Forming a crystal blade on his arm.
"That's why I have to thank you for relying so much on Samehada. I just have to neutralize it to finish you."
With an upward motion, he slashed Fuguki's chest making a deep wound.
Fuguki screamed feeling the cut but it was worse when his wound began to crystallize along the edges so it wouldn't close.
But a sound of crystal breaking caught Daigo's attention seeing how Samehada began to move violently.
The mouth at the tip of the sword opened wide the teeth began biting the crystals first slowly, then with fury.
Fuguki watched the scene in disbelief seeing how his sword seemed to do something it had never done before then he began to laugh.
The crystal around his body started breaking his chest wound began to steam.
"Incredible," Fuguki said starting to feel his body again his muscles regenerating.
Samehada spat out small crystal fragments while its surface grew new spines some pink.
Daigo understood Samehada had learned a new way to absorb chakra. It had devoured the crystal to find its chakra and absorb it.
"I have to thank you," Fuguki said slowly standing up.
"Samehada says your chakra is delicious." His eyes gleamed with hunger. "It's never tasted anything so crunchy."
Daigo looked at the sword how it seemed more alive than ever since the fight began.
His smile was completely wild.
"You're too dangerous to let live with a bloodline never seen before I won't let alive."
Fuguki shouted attacking along with a smiling Samehada.
Daigo began retreating backward dodging Fuguki's continuous attacks.
Having enough time to breathe he took the largest possible breath into his lungs to activate the Fourth Breath of the Seven Heavens.
The pink aura appeared around Daigo especially feeling how he moved much faster than before appearing in front of Fuguki hitting him with full force sending him flying.
Along with Fuguki's flying figure, Daigo's pink aura followed hitting him again though this time a blue aura from Fuguki with Samehada's chakra stopped him.
Samehada clashed with Daigo's crystal fist trying to eat it though what it received was Daigo's other fist making it close its mouth.
Fuguki didn't take long to kick, pushing Daigo away from him which he succeeded in doing, beginning to form hand seals.
"Suiton: Isana no Shintō (Watef Release: Slap of the Sea Giant," Fuguki said as a whale tail formed from water.
The tail slammed the ground toward Daigo making a massive water wave rush toward him.
The furious wave headed toward Daigo who only smiled feeling the great battle he was living forming hand seals.
"Shōton: Suishō Sekai (Crystal Release: Crystal World)."
Just as the wave was a centimeter from hitting him the entire wave turned to crystal stopping the attack.
Then with a snap of his fingers the formerly giant crystal wave shattered completely leaving only traces of small crystals falling to the ground.
"Those kinds of jutsu won't work on me, Fuguki. You'll need something better, why don't you use Samehada's special ability? I think you'd have a better chance fighting me," Daigo said looking at Fuguki.
At this, Fuguki only frowned remembering he had never been able to use that form no matter how much he tried.
"I don't need that to defeat you. That technique must consume a lot of chakra I'll just wear you down until you run out of chakra and then I'll kill you," Fuguki shouted beginning to form more hand seals.
Along with him two water clones emerged at his sides making the three Fuguki form the same seals.
"I'll show you my great technique you won't survive this," Fuguki said his shark teeth smiling wider along with Samehada which began giving him more chakra.
"Water Release: Ocean Titan."
