With a new night in Suna after several months that passed like days, the village of Suna remained in the same closed state.
While the other villages continued in war including the smaller ones Suna in its desert seemed to have been completely defeated, showing no sign of entering the war again.
But at least everyone in Suna knew the reason why they weren't participating yet they hadn't given the green light.
In the Kazekage's tower, Daigo after months of building tunnels had finally emerged after finishing most of them. With 8 tunnels completely finished and connected around the desert, Daigo knew it was enough to start making money and moving the first pieces on the board.
"So you've finished all the tunnels?" the Third Kazekage asked.
"The main ones and the necessary ones for now 8 in total. Here's the map so you can handle the business you know more about that," Daigo said, handing over the map with all the tunnels and details that would be needed.
Kaizo observing it nodded, seeing the hard work Daigo had been doing during this time, despite being buried underground like a mole.
"Perfect. With this, along with the ninjas already mastering Sunagakure no Jutsu, we can start moving. But before I decide, Daigo if you have the power to choose which village would you attack first?" the Kazekage asked Daigo.
"Sensei, lately I feel like I'm the Kazekage but without the title. Is that the case, just give me the hat already and you act as my commander," Daigo replied to his sensei who went blank for a moment.
"I already know which one we're going to start with, I just wanted your opinion. Besides, you're the one who wants to be Kazekage this type of choice is the one you need to chose all the time," Kaizo said.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah as you say, Sensei. Looking at how things are, I think we should eliminate Kirigakure from the east. I know Todo-sensei and my father have them blocked there, but I think if we make them retreat, we wouldn't have to worry when we attack Konoha or Iwa again," Daigo gave his thoughts making the Kazekage nod at his strategic mind.
"You're saying to avoid Kiri bothering us and then focus on the stronger ones alright. Prepare yourself because I won't send a large team, just one strong enough to make them retreat and I want you to be the leader of that team," the Kazekage said.
"Fine but Sensei, I'm only a chūnin. Won't the others get upset I am in charge?" Daigo asked curiously.
"Daigo, you were buried in a tunnel for months. Your feats have started spreading through the village. If someone doesn't know you, it's because they were in the tunnel with you."
"Now I understand. But wouldn't that be a problem if some spy gets this information and passed to all village?" Daigo asked.
"Don't worry we've already taken care of many during these months. They wanted to know what you were doing, so it was easy to catch them. There might be one left, but they won't have any idea what the tunnels are since no one except you and the chosen helpers has entered and they have to wait until it's public."
"Ok. So when do we leave the village?"
"In one week. Come on the last day of this week so I can give you the details of locations you can attack to make them retreat faster."
With everything said, Daigo left the Kazekage's tower and went straight to the puppet unit's base.
Upon entering, he noticed many ninjas still working despite it being night all with different puppets. But passing by, he went directly to Sasori's place who had a private workshop.
Unlike the others, Daigo didn't even knock he just entered, noticing Sasori focused on writing seals.
"Sasori, my little brother how have you been?" was the first thing he said upon entering.
Sasori who looked at Daigo only nodded at his words and continued with his practice.
While Daigo instead of sitting simply start observed Sasori's workshop, noticing that despite seeing many things, everything seemed organized down to the perimeter, without any mess.
"So what do you need, Daigo?" Sasori asked while continuing to write.
"I came to talk to you about what I told you. Do you have a more secret place?" Daigo asked looking around.
At this, Sasori only nodded touching a seal under his desk and channeling chakra. In a second, hidden seals in the room lit up and then disappeared as if they had never been there.
"You can say whatever you want now the room is completely sealed," Sasori assured.
"Looks like you like seals they're very powerful, so learn as much as you can because they'll help you in the future" Daigo said now sitting without failing to give the advice. He would probably learn more in the future too.
"Thanks for the advice though I've already been doing that. So which one do you want to talk about first or second plan?"
"The second, the human puppets you know I'm not that interested in anything more than the other."
"Ok I'm almost at the point of mastering it. I've tested it on prisoners but it's not working the way it's supposed to." Sasori said taking out a seal quite different from the previous ones.
Daigo took the seal looking at it though having no minimal idea of what all of it was.
"I understand though we need it, because it's the only way. Killing him would be more of a problem than controlling him with a control seal we'd save ourselves many problem with that," Daigo said.
"I can achieve it, but when do you need it? Because I've obtained a jutsu used by spies with a very striking characteristic that would be the key for upgrading this seal," Sasori asked telling him what he had found.
"No later than the end of the week because I have a mission and I want to take you with me. What jutsu are you talking about? Maybe I've seen it," Daigo ask.
"The jutsu is called Memory-Concealing Manipulative Sand Technique. Do you know the one I'm talking about?" Sasori asked.
"Yes I know which one you mean. I feel it could work if you combine both, you could control the daimyō even more,"
At Daigo's words, silence filled the room where both thought about the advantages and how it would work. Daigo on his part found no problem but Sasori thinking through all scenarios noted a point Daigo had skipped.
"Daigo your plan is good, but it would be very noticeable that he's being manipulated. The daimyō's workers will see how the money goes to Suna and report the change. I think this won't work that way," Sasori explained his reasoning.
Daigo nodded in the field of manipulation and infiltration, it wasn't his strongest point. Sasori, on the other hand, was an expert in this so he took it seriously at what he said.
"I see you have a better plan than mine?" Daigo asked.
"Let me think, I think I have something," Sasori said staying quiet while thinking and opening several scrolls looking thru them .
Daigo for his part he did as said. He stayed quiet observing to learn everything he can. His initial plan was to kill the daimyō but that wouldn't work as the Third Kazekage explained.
Then the idea came to him that Sasori create a seal to manipulate him and make him do what they wanted like in the Canon Sasori.
It would be perfect but now Sasori showed the flaw. The strategy would be discovered. The Land of Iron would send investigators and they'd realize everything was planned by us cutting all connection with Suna.
That would be the end of Sunagakure forever with no missions, civilians would leave because of the worst economic, and ninjas would prefer to become mercenary and earn money another way rather than starve. So this had to be a perfect plan with 0% chance of failure or at least if it failed, the blame wouldn't fall on Suna.
Daigo looking at Sasori knew he had achieved something thanks to his imperceptible and very small smile.
"I've got it," Sasori said.
"Let's hear it," Daigo said moving a little closer and giving his full attention.
"While thinking I came to the conclusion that we'll use both though not only on the daimyō, but also on the workers. The plan would consist of using the control seal and the Memory-Concealing Manipulative Sand Technique together but this we only apply to the workers.
For the daimyō, only the Memory-Concealing Manipulative Sand Technique to gradually erase his memories of when the workers give us financial support so there's no failure," Sasori explained.
"It looks much better than what we had and I see no flaw. But I have a better idea: instead of just erasing memories from the daimyō, let's change his point of view about Sunagakure. Make him only see good things about Suna until the time comes when we no longer use the jutsu, since he'll give the support without forcing him," Daigo gave his idea making Sasori nod.
"I see it's possible though it will be very difficult to achieve all this and i would need more time during the mission to infiltrate inside and start everything," Sasori said.
"Time is the least of it I assure you a few months since the mission we're going on is to make Kirigakure retreat from the east so we can later start attacking the Land of Fire or the Land of Earth."
With Sasori nodding at the plan both just made, Daigo didn't stayed longer leaving to his house to rest of the night.
The next day, he went to look for Pakura, he wanted to know if she wanted to go on the mission with them.
So he headed to her house though upon arriving, he was surprised to see her outside in normal clothes.
"Eh Daigo what a surprise. Looks like you finally finished," Pakura said closing the door.
"That's right I finished yesterday. Though I was busy yesterday do you have time to talk?" Daigo asked.
"You caught me just as I was going out to do some shopping. Come on tell me on the way," Pakura said grabbing Daigo's arm not letting him refuse the request.
Starting to walk, Daigo told her the details of his mission of course he didn't say everything and used codes for the relevant things so only Pakura would know. She accepted to be on the mission so both headed to the shops.
To the surprise of Daigo and Pakura they ran into a couple making Daigo sigh upon seeing the state of his companion and rival for the 4th Kazekage position.
"Oh Daigo, Pakura what a surprise to see you here. Are you two on a date?" Karura asked while leading along a Rasa who looked more dead than alive.
At the comment, Pakura blushed though Daigo being as dense as Rasa denied what Karura said.
"No we're not on a date, Karura-san. I was going to tell Pakura-chan something and she forced me to come," Daigo said making Rasa give him a mocking look for being in the same position as him.
Karura looking at Daigo and Pakura didn't seem to pay much attention to his words approaching Pakura and continuing the conversation with her.
Now the four continued walking stopping at several shops along the way. Daigo helping Rasa when he didn't notice the details Karura paid attention to and Rasa doing the same with Daigo.
In these hours they spent being dragged by Pakura and Karura both seemed to form an alliance to survive the shopping with partners giving each other the necessary assistance to avoid drawing the fury of both.
Having finished the shopping which wasn't little and which both men had to carry they went to eat at a quite nice and special place for couples though Daigo tried to say they weren't anything, Pakura along with Karura made sure to grab the couple's discount.
There they enjoyed a good meal Daigo forgetting the previous torture and Rasa though not much of a food lover could feel peace during dinner.
As time passed, Daigo noticed it was starting to get dark and it was the place where both couples would separate.
"Well it was fun. Pakura if you want to go out, just let me know. I won't take long to come and accompany you," Karura said saying goodbye with a hug to Pakura.
"Same here, Karura-san it was entertaining. It's the first time I've gone shopping with someone," Pakura said.
With the men it wasn't the same Happiness as the girls. Daigo and Rasa seemed to have a mental battle between them.
"Daigo remind me that this is the last time we have to make an alliance," Rasa said annoying because he had to depend on Daigo on this matter.
"Same here because of you I had to go through all that suffering too," Daigo said pushing all the fault to Rasa.
"But I received the advice from you. What fault do I have that you just crossed paths with me? Don't blame me," Rasa said getting annoyed by Daigo's pointing finger at him.
"Now you're saying I'm the one who got us into this? Do you want us to have the rematch from last time here?" Daigo asked already preparing to beat Rasa.
Rasa was equally ready though two hits on both heads left both men out of combat being the hits from both girls.
"Well see you," both said carrying each one like shopping bags.
Already halfway there, Daigo recovered carrying the bags with one hand while the other rubbed his head. Neither of them said anything it was a silent walk until reaching Pakura's house.
Who opened the door and went in.
"You can leave the shopping there," Pakura said pointing to the table.
Daigo nodded carrying them and then dropping them sitting on the sofa to rest from the heavy day.
While sitting he noticed Pakura who seemed to have ignored him starting to put away the shopping. So with nothing to do he stayed watching her.
Noticing how every movement she made was agile and calm a peace he hadn't noticed in her until today.
Another thing he noticed was the song Pakura sang in a low voice so no one would hear her.
Watching her closely Daigo blushed before looking away just as Pakura turned toward him.
"What are you going to do tonight?" Pakura asked sitting next to him.
Daigo calming down coughed to eliminate all lustful thoughts and looked at Pakura.
"No idea whenever they give me free time, I don't know what to do other than train," Daigo said.
"Same here though lately I've been doing other things to entertain myself besides just training," Pakura said.
"Like what?" Daigo asked.
"Cooking new recipes I'm also reading more books. Before I only read ninja scrolls."
"Interesting you seem quite entertained. Does it bother you if I stay here a while sleep for a nap?" Daigo asked yawning.
"No problem go to the room. The sofa is uncomfortable," Pakura replied.
"Eh to the room? But that's your bedroom I can't," Daigo said trying to get comfortable on the sofa
"They is another room for guests go sleep over there idiot I don't want you on my room"
