The valley that separated the borders of Lightning and Earth no longer existed. What was once a naturally beautiful mountain pass had transformed into a wasteland of craters, melted metal, and a silence broken only by the constant roar of electricity.

Forty-eight hours had passed. Two full days since the Third Raikage had stood alone against Iwagakure's army.

A the third raikage the man whose skin was harder than diamond panted heavily. His chest rose and fell violently, and every breath tasted like copper.

At his feet, the ground was literally paved with the remains of five thousand Rock shinobi. Their earth armors had been useless; their stone walls, mere paper against the Raikage's advance.

Yet the horizon darkened once more. From the ridges of the surrounding mountains, the rhythmic sound of marching footsteps echoed again.

Another five thousand. A new legion of Iwa with pristine uniforms and faces full of terror they tried to hide behind military discipline descended to replace the fallen.

"Ten thousand," the Raikage whispered, letting out a hoarse laugh that ended in a cough. "You really value me highly, Ōnoki. Sacrificing an entire generation of your village just to take me down."

The Raikage glanced back for a brief second. In the distance, smoke signals from his troops indicated they were already safe in Kumo's highlands.

His son, his people… they were out of danger. He was no longer fighting for military victory he was fighting for fun, imagining how future generations would look at him.

The ninja who fought against 10,000 ninjas neither Madara Uchiha nor Hashirama had done that. It made him feel more alive than ever.

Though he felt his chakra flow. It was dangerously low. His chakra coils burned as if molten lead had been poured into them.

Any other ninja would have collapsed dead from exhaustion hours ago but he was no ordinary ninja.

"If this is the end of the road," he said, straightening his back and letting his steel-cable muscles relax for an instant,

"then I'll show them why Kumogakure is the village that rules the sky."

He closed his eyes and concentrated not on repeating the same thing, using his lightning cloak to finish them all. He wanted to show them why he was the strongest Raikage in Kumo's history.

Suddenly, the atmosphere changed. The air became heavy, almost solid. The approaching Iwa ninjas froze in place, gripped by the powerful chakra radiating from the Raikage.

"What… what is that?" asked an Iwa captain, stepping back as his skin prickled.

The Raikage's blue aura began to be devoured by black electrical shadows. Sparks of dense, night-black lightning fast as thought danced around his body.

It was Kuroi Kaminari (Black Lightning). But it wasn't a simple emission technique; it was fusing with his ultimate armor.

"Kuroi Raiton no Yoroi: The Final Judgment," the Raikage roared.

The burst was absolute. A column of black lightning shot toward the sky, tearing through the clouds and causing thunder that echoed even in neighboring villages.

When the light dissipated, the Raikage's figure had changed. He no longer shone like a beacon; now he was a silhouette of pure dark electricity that seemed to absorb the sunlight.

"Fire! Throw everything you have for the fallen ones!" shouted an Iwa commander from the rear.

Thousands of explosive tags, earth dragons, and rock projectiles flew toward him. The Raikage didn't move. The attacks simply disintegrated upon contact with the black aura. They didn't explode they turned to dust.

Showing the power of those black lightning

if the normal lightning armor was resistant,

This version made it an even greater force capable of pulverizing low-level jutsu without effort.

With a step that fractured the ground for a kilometer around, the Raikage charged.

If the first two days had been a battle, the third was a mystical massacre. Black Lightning didn't just strike; its most terrifying characteristic was that, as a mass of electricity, it was much stronger.

Capable of clinging to a target and tearing it apart unlike normal lightning, which only electrocutes.

Every strike from the Raikage left behind dark electricity that jumped from one enemy to another paralyzing hearts and undoing their defenses.

The Raikage moved with a fluidity that defied the logic of exhaustion. His mind had separated from pain. He no longer felt his legs breaking under the pressure; he no longer felt the blood pouring from his ears. Only the rhythm existed: strike, dodge, advance.

"Don't retreat! We've almost got him!" the Iwa officers shouted though they themselves were trembling, trying to draw the least attention to themselves.

But the Raikage was no longer a man. He was a testament of will.

Halfway through the third day, the landscape was unrecognizable. Black Lightning had melted the sand and stone, creating a ground of scorched earth and debris. The Raikage in the center of that circle of death extended a single finger.

Jigokuzuki: Ippon Nukite.

This time, the finger didn't just shine; it was wrapped in a whirlwind of black lightning spinning like a circular saw.

It pierced through the Rock's last great formation. Iwa's most powerful earth shields shattered like glass. The Raikage passed through hundreds of men in a single second leaving a trail of black ash.

However, the price was being paid.

For every minute the Raikage used his black lightning armor, it consumed not only chakra but his very life force.

The Raikage could feel his heart expanding and contracting with rhythmic agony. His lungs were collapsing. The technique that made him invincible was the same one consuming him from within.

As they always say no technique is completely perfect or impossible to defeat. There is always something that ends the technique whether it's wear on the body or a weakness.

There is always a weakness and for the Raikage, it was his body. The hardest skin in the world didn't seem to hold up long enough to use his great technique. And it was a shame perhaps if he had trained more, he would have endured.

The sun began to set on the third consecutive day. The shadows of the mountains stretched across the battlefield. Of the original ten thousand from Iwa, barely a few hundred remained alive and those left were so mentally broken they had dropped their weapons.

They watched the Raikage with a mix of religious hatred and terrifying admiration.

The Third Raikage stopped. The Black Lightning began to flicker turning blue again, then disappearing completely.

He stood there in the middle of the scorched plain. His hands that had destroyed armies hung at his sides. His eyes once full of battle adrenaline now looked at the horizon with a strange peace.

He had done it defeated as many as he could and broken the morale of the Rock ninjas.

He felt one last spasm in his chest. It wasn't an enemy blow. It was silence. His chakra reserves were at absolute zero; he had used even the energy that held his cells together.

"A my son," he whispered in a voice impossible to hear to no one

"Be a better Kage than I was."

The Third Raikage the strongest shield and strongest assault in history exhaled for the last time.

He did not fall to the ground. He did not kneel. His muscles hardened, keeping him standing proud looking toward the path his enemies could not cross.

He died undefeated. The Rock didn't kill him; he killed himself by choosing to be his village's eternal fighter.

To Iwa's misfortune they couldn't even use the Raikage's corpse as a trophy, because a Kumo rescue unit arrived to try to save him though it was too late. They only recovered his body.

Making this the true defeat for the unbreakable Iwa ninjas.

Weeks later, in the dessert of the land of the winds

Daigo was deep inside one of his crystal tunnels.

The pink illumination from the walls created a calm atmosphere far from the scorching surface sun and easier to work in.

Suddenly, an ANBU appeared in one of the tunnels approaching him and handing him a scroll.

Daigo took the scroll expecting an order but what he read made his blood pump with the urge to fight.

"The Third Raikage has fallen. Ten thousand from Iwa against one man. The Tsuchikage sacrificed his army to take one head. What do you think we should do?"

Daigo nodded writing his response to the Kazekage. In the end, he seemed more like the Kage than the Kage himself.

"So the Third Raikage fell. I wish I'd seen that battle," Daigo whispered looking at the beautiful walls he was building.

If he remembered correctly, that wouldn't be the only major death. Five of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist would die too, along with the Mizukage.

Many figures of power would end here and new ones would rise. One being Konoha's Yellow Flash, Kumo's Killer B, and many more and Daigo would be one of them too.

Looking at the map there were still tunnels left to finish but at least he was happy with the progress. Thanks to Daisen's chakra storage seals, he hadn't had to worry about chakra.

And to his advantage, his control over crystal had been improving more and more every time he used it making creation easier.

If he remembered correctly he hadn't seen sunlight this whole time but he didn't need to. Pakura brought him good food and that was enough for him though he missed the fresh air outside.

Looking at the other ninjas Chiyo had gotten to help him he was happy because they focus on making the túnnels work while he focused on reinforcing them with crystal and making breathing zones.

Daigo seeing they already seemed energized laughed, turned around, and with renewed determination, sank his hands into the stone. He had to move forward to join and participate in those legendary battles he had always wanted to be part of.

He couldn't let the others take all the fun while he played Bob the Builder.

With the Kazekage

Receiving Daigo's message "Continue construction and let them weaken even more" he nodded. He had thought the same.

Looking toward the squad of 50 ninjas he had created he nodded seeing the powerful sand storm that seemed controlled, more like a tornado.

Finally after weeks some of the ninjas could use Sunagakure no Jutsu. It was a success in both senses: used as cover and as a hidden poison blast.

And not just them he had created new things. The Kazekage in his private new training didn't fall behind improving his previous techniques along with new jutsu that would help him greatly.

As things looked from the outside, all villages thought Suna had lost and wouldn't participate in the main war again.

But that was a lie because when they least expected it, they would return stronger than ever. And this time they would be ready to take more than they had before.
