Chapter 175 - Ancient Script and Conditions, Limitations - Chapter 175

Conrad worked until the morning; he kept on writing each symbol hundreds of times and believed that he would need to work more on the symbols.

There are some things he learned while he was practicing writing the Divine Script and its characters.

Each time he wrote a symbol, despite not trying to meditate on nen, he still felt that he lost some of his nen; each character caused him to lose a small, even minuscule, amount of nen that could be regenerated within just seconds.

Also, writing of these characters felt like something that would increase his nen manipulation and mastery.

Every time he focused on writing a character, his soul was like telling him something; each character he wrote increased his understanding of his nen.

"This is a great training," he concluded.

After feeling that his mind and body were tired, which was weird for him, as even fighting does not cause him to be tired this quickly. He first took a shower and then lay down on his bed to sleep.

For some time, Conrad kept on working, understanding the fundamentals and working on each character.

Two weeks passed in a flash; he never left his room and just kept on working on the characters. When he tried, he slept, and when he woke up, he ate something and then continued to train.

In the morning, as he again started from the start, he felt something a little bit different this time; the nen energy spent on writing the character diminished.

The spent yen was almost negligible.

"This is a great sign for me," he thought.

"If I am not wrong, two weeks before each time I wrote a Divine Script Character, I lost some of my nen, small or not."

"This was because I was wrong on writing the character, but I still wrote it, so it caused me to spend some nen."

"It is like a simple nen ability, and it is theory."

"For writing a character, one has to have mastery over the character; if the character is wrong, a punishment is dealt to the one who wrote the character."

"This understanding and sentence itself is a small, minuscule nen ability; it would be more correct to think that it is "Nen Theory" and "Nen Law" in effect."

Conrad continued, and after understanding that he does not spend any yen when writing the characters, he concluded that he passed the first stage within his mind.

Now, his symbols and characters seemed great and similar to those on the book. Pretty neat-looking symbols that have no mistakes.

"Now."

"The second stage, a simple test," he thought and then ripped one paper from his notebook.

"This is just a small paper."

"If I use nen while holding it, nothing happens as long as I do not use advanced applications."

"If I want this paper to be, let's say, split into two, I should be able to do it with the corresponding character."

"For splitting, I can use Enhancer Character; actually, every one of the categories can do that."

"But, I guess, the Transmuter character is the best; by writing a script that would send the command of "sharp" and "splitting" abilities, it would work greatly."

Conrad took a deep breath and then started inscribing on the paper.

The characters were simple to him at this point.

Compared to other training, this time, while he wrote, he kept on focusing on his intent.

It was like creating a small, minuscule nen ability with a nen programming system and theory.

In ten minutes, he finished writing the script.

As he finished, he felt like he used some sort of an ability.

He felt some aura leaving him and then transferring into the paper.

The aura that left was nothing important; it was a pretty small amount; it would regenerate in just ten to fifteen seconds.

But the payment was there.

"I suppose this should be a sign that I have been successful," Conrad thought.

For a basic understanding, if he were to translate, the script said this for a new user who knows how to read it.

"The purpose of the script"

"When the paper gets in contact with an aura, it will be split into the two."

"The Paper" (Object)

"Transmuter Symbols (Category of Character)

"Effect (Splitting)"

"Conditions (The nen user will spend corresponding aura to achieve the effect)"

He then took the paper in his hand and then used his "ten" actively.

As he used his nen, the paper split in two, as he wanted it to.

"Great..."

"Great!" Conrad said and nodded.

He was excited and happy.

In two weeks, he was able to use ancient script for a new effect.

This was something that was important in his training and understanding of nen.

"If this can be improved, I am starting to understand how it would be possible to achieve a place like Greed Island."

"With many new abilities, there are many types of writing on the whole island, or the important areas of it."

"One can do many things."

Conrad remembers something that's important now that he trains.

When the Phantom Troupe arrived at Greed Island to look for Chrollo, they were sent back to the real world by Razor, one of the friends of Ging and a game master.

The important thing was not that he was a friend but what he said to them.

"He was responsible for 'Emitter Spells' in the game."

"If this is true, which is most likely."

"It is more than likely that he used his nen to power those cards, using emitter characters of ancient script, and created many of them from time to time."

"Also, achieving the effects would not be that costly due to how hard it is to enter the game and how many limitations the cards and many other things have."

"I cannot imagine right now creating something like that, but it would not be that easy to just write teleportation with nen characters and divine script and be able to do it."

"I would think it would need a huge amount of nen without conditions to help it."

"Greed Island, the people, the limitations—everything combined greatly lets Razor support emitter-type spells without being near the cards used by the players."

"I suppose his staying at the island may be a limitation too for the cards to work."

Conrad shook his head and grinned.

"There are many things that can be used for conditions and limitations to help him out."

"Given the right circumstances and enough power, one can do almost anything!"
