Time passed quickly; the next and final exam was announced to the applicants.
It was a simple tournament and a duel.
The remaining thirty applicants were set to each other and will fight one-versus-one battles, and the winner will pass the next applicant.
When the remaining applicants are down to ten people, the exam will officially end and then the ten applicants will be given hunter licenses.
The applicants who listened nodded as they liked the exam.
Compared to other types of exams where they were sent to different kinds of places and expected to work together or death traps everywhere, such an exam made more sense to them.
At least it was easier to understand there would be no hard feelings.
Conrad listened to the words of Beans and then nodded as he smiled.
"Great."
"I am not going to waste any more time here."
He said to himself.
The airship continued on its way, and two hours after the announcement, it came to open grasslands.
It landed in a pretty open space; next to the open space, there was a big manor-like building.
"It must be some estate that the Hunter Association owns." Conrad thought while he looked at Manor, and then Lono, Elaine, and Nate showed themselves.
Nate came forward and spoke.
"Due to this being the last exam and us not wanting the same thing to happen as in the previous exam, we will be all here."
"I am telling you people right now."
"Do not have any evil or rule-breaking ideas."
"This time, we will kill you if you try to kill anybody."
"Do not think that you people are capable of fighting three hunters at the same time."
Conrad smirked at the words of Nate.
"Truth be told, they are not that wrong."
"Fighting against three nen users is a risky thing to do for every other nen user if they are alone."
"Of course, there are people who can fight against tens of nen users alone, but those cannot be more than ten in the whole world." Conrad thought, while Lono came forward.
Some of the assistants brought up a whiteboard in the middle of the opening.
"This is the first duel."
A chart was on the whiteboard; it depicted who would fight with whom and who they would fight if they passed.
This time Elaine came forward and started speaking.
"Due to the number of you guys being thirty people, we will have three small stages."
"The first stage is the simplest."
"Fifteen of you fight against fifteen of you."
"A simple elimination."
People nodded; this was easy to understand.
Elaine then continued to talk.
"The second stage is group elimination; we want to eliminate five more of you."
"So, each of you will be allocated into groups of three, Group 1 to 5."
"That fight will be a battle royale; when each group has one loser in their group, the stage will be finished."
Conrad nodded and thought.
"When the battle royale ends, the exam will be over."
"So, each group of three fights in their group."
"This exam also tests capability of working in a group again; if any one of the applicants can work with the second one, then they can attack the third one to pass the exam."
"In an ordinary battle, a fight, there are not many people who can fight against two people at the same time."
Conrad then smirked as he thought.
"But the examiners are not dumb; if something like that were to happen and inside of Group 1, two people decided to attack the last one and that last one were capable of taking two of them down, they would be earning the license with the power."
"The exam gives a prize to teamwork and also individual power if the target of two people is not that capable of forming friendships and teams in an instant."
Elaine looked at the eyes of applicants, and then she smirked.
"I am sure everybody understands everything."
"The groups 1 to 5 will be finalized after stage 1 is over."
"So, without wasting any more time"
She said and then looked at the whiteboard and spoke.
"Applicant 32, Boro, and Applicant 123, Matilda, you two are the first; come forward."
A man and a woman showed themselves and then went to the pointed middle, while the others watched.
Elaine spoke with a harsh tone.
"The loser will be the first to be put to sleep and have no way to fight back anymore or the one that would say they are giving up."
"Under no circumstances is killing permissible; if any one of you kills the people in front of you."
Elaine stopped for a moment and then, with a wicked smile, added.
"They will be punished by death instantly with no case or anything."
