Nilo's Past Life
(The hitman who fell into the right role)
My name is Nilo.
I am a hitman.
Not out of necessity.
Not because anyone forced me.
I simply… like the feeling.
Don't get me wrong: I have a code. When I'm hired to eliminate a potential target, I study them first. If they're guilty, I kill them. If they're not, I turn the job down. Not because I want redemption or because I think I'm a better person.
I'm evil.
I know it.
And when I die, I'll go to hell.
I don't care.
Everything went to hell the day the virus appeared.
The dead started getting back up, just like in the movies. At first it was almost disappointing: one shot to the head and done. Easy. Too easy.
But it soon became clear they weren't normal zombies.
They grew stronger by eating humans.
Or worse yet… by devouring each other.
They learned.
They evolved.
The world collapsed in weeks.
Between jobs and massacres, a friend recommended a novel to me. Said it was good for killing time. I read it while clearing infested buildings, while reloading weapons, while the blood was still warm on the floor.
I got hooked.
One day, I got careless.
A tiny mistake. One second too long.
And those bastards surrounded me.
I felt them tear flesh from my body, felt teeth crack bone. I didn't scream. I didn't pray. I just thought it was a fitting end for someone like me.
And then… I woke up.
I didn't die.
I reincarnated.
Inside the novel.
And not as a hero.
Not as a pathetic side character.
I reincarnated as a villain.
Ha.
No complaints.
I'm rich.
Handsome.
Influential.
And best of all: I have a system.
No stupid missions.
No moral choices.
Just one simple, honest rule:
Kill and earn points.
With those points, I level up. Easy. Direct. No hypocrisy.
I learn techniques just by seeing them once. The only downside is that if I want to master them or level them up, I have to practice… or spend points.
A fair price.
This world is perfect for someone like me.
Here, I don't pretend to be good.
Here, I don't apologize for enjoying it.
I'm going to level up.
I'm going to crush anyone who stands in my way.
And when the time comes…
I'll kick the asses of those damn gods too.
After all,
if hell exists…
it's better to arrive with experience.
