Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13: Rebirth Of Noir

CHAPTER 13: Rebirth Of Noir

Until now, you were probably confused.

Noir.

Gabriel.

Jumping back and forth.

What connects them?

What is really happening in this world?

Well—let me make one thing clear.

Nothing is real.

Everything is fake.

Many years ago…

Time: Unknown

There was a twelve-year-old boy named Gabriel.

A quiet boy.

An imaginative boy.

Inside his mind lived countless stories—thrillers, superheroes, horror, tragedy. There wasn't a single genre he didn't explore. Gabriel poured those ideas into hand-drawn comics, sketching panel after panel with obsessive passion. He truly believed that one day, he would become one of the greatest comic writers the world had ever seen.

He was serious about his studies, disciplined beyond his age, and most importantly—he was loved.

His parents supported him in every possible way.

Gabriel's father, Alexander, and his mother, Marcy, worked as senior researchers at a massive corporation known as Blackwood Industries. To the outside world, Blackwood was a revolutionary research company—responsible for groundbreaking advances in artificial intelligence and futuristic technology.

But that was only the surface.

No one outside the company knew their true objective.

And perhaps… no one was supposed to.

The Truth About Death

Every human being must taste death.

No one can live forever.

But would anyone want to die?

Never.

That question led humanity to pursue something impossible—an alternative world. A completely sealed digital reality, running inside an unimaginably complex computer system. A world with no connection to reality, yet perfectly capable of imitating it.

Or even surpassing it.

Unlimited space.

Unlimited resources.

No decay.

No natural death.

Think about this: when you delete a file from your device, it's gone forever.

But this world wasn't a file.

Even if its main system was destroyed, it wouldn't disappear—because it existed within non-existence itself. A paradox. Something comparable to minus zero (-0). It exists, yet it doesn't.

So the question was—how would humans enter this world?

The answer was horrifyingly simple.

You had to become part of the system.

Your physical body would die in the real world, but your brain—or fragments of it—would remain functional. Or, in some cases, your entire biological structure would be perfectly scanned: memories, hormones, neural pathways, DNA, blood vessels—everything.

All of it reconstructed digitally.

The moment your eyes closed in the real world, your subconscious would awaken inside the alternative one.

From that moment on—

You were no longer human.

You were AI.

No death.

No limits.

Age could increase endlessly, and when it became inconvenient—everything could simply reset. Life would restart from the beginning, again and again.

You would never even realize that you were artificial.

It would feel like home.

Blackwood Industries Succeeds

Blackwood Industries perfected the process.

They began sending people into the alternative world.

At first, everything worked flawlessly.

But then, something changed.

The company's CEO—Adriyen Marcus—started seeing his creation differently.

To him, this world wasn't just a technological miracle.

It was divinity.

He believed he was the true God of this universe. Humans were allowed to live there—but only under his rules. Free will disgusted him.

So Adriyen made a decision.

Anyone sent into the alternative world would have their real-world memories erased. Their lives, personalities, and destinies would be rewritten. Adriyen would decide who they were.

They would function like NPCs—obedient, controlled, hollow.

Why would he do this?

Because as Adriyen aged, his mind began to fracture.

He grew paranoid.

Obsessive.

Cruel.

He wanted to build a human colony inside his world—where he alone would reign as God.

The Escape Attempt

Alexander and Marcy discovered the truth.

Horrified by Adriyen's plans, they secretly copied research records and decided to flee the company. Exposing him publicly felt impossible—no one would believe such madness.

But one thing was certain:

No one wanted to live as someone else's puppet.

They rushed home.

"Gabriel, pack your bag. Take all your clothes—everything. Put them in one big bag."

Gabriel looked up, confused.

"Are we going somewhere?"

"Yes," his mother replied softly. "We're going abroad… a long vacation."

They lied.

They didn't want their child to carry the weight of fear.

But they were already too late.

The Massacre

Adriyen's men arrived at the house.

One by one—

Gunshots.

Blood splattered across the floor.

Silence followed.

Gabriel stood frozen on the blood-soaked tiles.

Unknown men.

His parents' bodies.

Blood.

Blood.

Blood.

They are dead.

They are dead.

They are dead.

His mind refused to accept it.

"No… this can't be real… Mom… Dad…!"

Then—

A wheelchair rolled into the room.

An old man sat upon it, smiling calmly.

"Ah… so you're Gabriel. I've heard about you. They say you write wonderful stories… draw beautiful comics."

Gabriel said nothing.

On the floor lay one of his comics.

NOIR.

Adriyen picked it up.

"Hmmm… impressive. Did you draw all of this yourself?"

Gabriel finally spoke.

"Why did you kill my parents?"

Adriyen laughed lightly.

"Oh, don't be sad, my boy. There's no problem at all. I can bring them back. Talented people like you belong in my collection."

Tears streamed down Gabriel's face.

He screamed—

"What the hell are you saying, you bastard?! You killed my parents! You think you can joke with me?! I'll kill you! I swear I will!"

Adriyen's smile vanished.

"Take the boy."

The End of Gabriel

They dragged him into a dark room.

A massive chair sat at the center, fitted with a helmet. Wires, monitors, machines surrounded it. Gabriel was forced into the seat, his arms and legs restrained.

A man stepped forward with an injection.

Inside it—a glowing red substance.

The needle pierced Gabriel's skin.

Instantly, pressure flooded his body.

Something wasn't pulling his flesh—

It was pulling his soul.

His heartbeat accelerated.

The pressure intensified.

His vision blurred.

Gabriel closed his eyes.

The last thing he ever saw was countless people standing together before him.

Darkness followed.

Rebirth

A voice echoed.

"Gabriel… your time is over.

You are dead.

But there is good news.

You have been given a new life… inside the alternative world.

From today, forget the name Gabriel.

From today—

You are NOIR."

To be continued...
