Chapter 2 - Copy talent

"What's going on here?"

Ye Tian was a bit at a loss. At first glance, he thought it was an illusion, but he was ultimately certain that everything before his eyes was not an illusion.

The data displayed on his retina was real; it wasn't an illusion.

"A Golden Finger? No, this might be my hidden Talent!"

Ye Tian pondered for a moment and then realized.

Ye Yu is only 13 years old now, not yet at the age to Cultivate, but Cultivation Talent is born from the moment of birth, so it's normal for Ye Yu to possess Cultivation Talent. As for Ice Talent, this is a Talent beyond Cultivation Talent, extremely rare, one in ten thousand. If she Awakens it in the future, she will definitely crush opponents of the same rank and even have a chance to fight above her level.

"It's said that after becoming a Martial Artist, one can absorb Origin Qi, and other hidden Talents will slowly Awaken. But people with other Talents are too few. I didn't expect my sister to possess the rare Ice Talent."

"However, is my Talent just being able to see other people's Talents?"

Ye Tian felt that his Talent was definitely not that simple.

Soon, he experimented and discovered something.

When he touched his sister, he found that the Cultivation Talent in the virtual screen showed 'Copyable' next to it.

This meant he could Copy his sister's Sub-grade Cultivation Talent.

However, since the Ice Talent had not yet Awakened, Ye Tian couldn't Copy it.

"Copy or not?"

Faced with this choice, Lin Tian naturally chose not to.

Although Sub-grade Talent was better than his own Weak-grade Talent, it was still trash. Even if he Copied it, it would be of no use.

After sending his sister away, Ye Tian stayed in his room alone to examine his Talent.

"I can see my sister's Talent, so I should be able to see my own Talent, right?" Ye Tian thought to himself.

So, Ye Tian focused his attention on himself.

Soon, information about his own Talent appeared on his retina.

Human: Ye Tian

Cultivation Talent: Weak-grade

This was a very simple Talent status, indicating that besides his Weak-grade Cultivation Talent, Ye Tian had no other hidden Talents. In the language of this era, he was a standard good-for-nothing, only slightly better than an ordinary person with no Talent whatsoever.

"Now that the basic situation is clear, this miraculous ability of mine should be the mysterious Talent that caused my body to explode and die in the past, and it Transmigrated with me. This Talent should be called Copy Talent, capable of Copying other people's Talents. As for whether it overwrites my own Talent or Fuses with my original Talent, that needs to be tested. Also, Copying someone else's Talent requires touching them, which is a bit troublesome, but perhaps it will change in the future!"

Having sorted this out, Ye Tian had a plan: to Copy the Cultivation Talent of a Genius. Otherwise, with his own Weak-grade Talent, he would never be able to Cultivate to the Martial Artist level in his entire life.

And if he didn't become a Martial Artist, life in the future would not be easy.

Ye Tian's parents died at the hands of Vicious Beasts a year ago. Now, this family consists only of him and his sister. This is the reality for many families, as humanity still struggles to survive in this era. People die every moment, and countless families are torn apart.

The place Ye Tian is currently staying is a small base called Lin Hai Base. The entire base has a population of 300,000, of which only about a thousand are Martial Artists. Martial Artists enjoy privileges that ordinary people cannot.

Ye Tian's deceased parents were Martial Artists, but unfortunately, they died in the Wilds during a mission. Even after their death, the base provides the family with certain compensatory benefits, such as subsidies that can be claimed before the age of 15, ensuring their livelihood.

However, once they exceed 15 years of age, the subsidies are lost.

Ye Tian has already turned 15, so he has lost his subsidy. Only his sister Ye Yu still receives it, but it's only enough to support one person.

Being young, neither of them had any way to earn money. In fact, to save money, he and his sister Ye Yu even dropped out of school early.

In Lin Hai Base, as long as one is nine years old, they can attend school until they are fifteen. As for primary, middle, and high schools from before the apocalypse, they no longer exist in this era.

The school classes teach Chinese, mathematics, and some knowledge about Vicious Beasts. He and Ye Yu had learned pretty much everything, so dropping out didn't have a big impact.

"My parents left behind an inheritance. Although not much, it's enough for me to live on for a few years. But what about later? If I don't reach the Martial Artist level, the only way to earn money is to work for others."

Working?

That's impossible; he wouldn't work in this lifetime.

Becoming a Martial Artist is the only way out in this era!

"Let's go for a walk on the street!"

After making up his mind, Ye Tian instructed his sister to stay home and then went out alone.

On the street.

People came and went, making it very lively. Most were ordinary people, some were Martial Apprentices, and only a few were Martial Artists.

These Martial Artists exuded a powerful Aura. If one got close, even breathing became a little labored.

Sub-grade Talent!

Sub-grade Talent!

Weak-grade Talent!

Sub-grade Talent!

... Ye Tian walked around and found that most people had Weak-grade Talent and Sub-grade Talent. He barely saw any with Elementary Talent, only on a few Martial Artists.

"It seems that in Lin Hai Base, Elementary Talent is already considered quite good!"

Ye Tian frowned.

But thinking about it, it made sense. Lin Hai Base is just a small base. The strongest person is said to be only a Great Martial Warrior. Sub-grade Talent Cultivates to the limit of Early Stage Martial Artist, while Elementary Talent is guaranteed to become a Martial Artist and has a slight chance of becoming an Elite Martial Warrior. Medium Talent is guaranteed to become an Elite Martial Warrior and has a slight chance of becoming a Great Martial Warrior.

That Great Martial Warrior in Lin Hai Base is already very old, probably just Medium Talent.

"Medium Talent, at the very least, I need to find a Medium Talent to Copy. I can't get close to those Martial Artists, otherwise, if I touch them, they might kill me. Even if a Martial Artist killing an ordinary person violates base regulations, they would at most be fined some money and nothing serious would happen. Especially someone like me with no background, no one would stand up for me, so I can't risk Copying a Martial Artist's Talent!"

"The base has 300,000 people. My Copy Talent can only view other people's Talents within three meters. This distance is too small. If I check everyone's Talent one by one, it would be too slow. The best way is to target specific people, inquire about which Martial Apprentice Cultivates quickly, and then check their Talent. As long as they have Medium Talent or above, I will Copy it. I refuse to believe that such a large Lin Hai Base doesn't even have one Medium Talent?"

Martial Apprentices are mainly concentrated in various academies. Lin Hai Base has five academies. As long as one is 15 years old, they can attend these academies. Except for Lin Hai First Academy, which requires Elementary Talent or certain connections, the other academies have no requirements; you can attend if you pay.

"My predecessor originally wanted an Elementary Talent to attend First Academy, but now, even if I had Elementary Talent, I wouldn't dare go to First Academy. First Academy requires Talent testing. If others found out about my Talent, and it became higher later, I would definitely be dissected and studied."

Ye Tian said helplessly.

Now, he could only settle for attending other academies.

In fact, he had to go to an academy to learn, otherwise, he wouldn't be able to learn the Body Tempering Method. Martial Apprentices cannot absorb Origin Qi; they can only Cultivate the Body Tempering Method to temper their bodies, thereby gaining thousands of jin of strength and becoming a Martial Artist.
