Getting ready to throw a rock, I feel my heart freeze when I watch Inv just stand there. What is he doing?! This entire time I haven't seen him try to pick up a rock or a spear as well! Why?!
Not able to think any further, the first of the cyan lizards is almost upon us. As I'm about to throw the rock I watch in shock as Inv steps in front of me.
Before I can even scream on what he is doing the cyan lizard collides with Inv! Jumping back, I expect to see Inv incapacitated from the cyan lizard but what I see makes my mind go blank.
With his own paws I see Inv somehow holding the cyan lizard down by the neck?! How the hell did he-
HISSS*
hearing the sudden hiss above I instinctively roll away from where I'm standing. Stopping the roll, I look back and-
WHOOSH*
Immediately upon me I see the cyan lizard's jaw open wide ready to snap me. With all my strength I quickly throw one of the rocks in my paws hitting the lizard right on the snout!
While dazed mid air I move out of the way as the lizard flies past me rolling on the ground and make some distance from the dazed lizard.
"JOEY!"
hearing Inv yell my name I snap my head towards him. Seeing him still holding the lizard down I can't help but think he's trying to wrestle it for some reason?
"I'm fine! I can handle this!" I yell out while quickly looking around me.
Spotting a spear near me I dash right towards it. Pulling the spear out of the ground I look back and see the Lizard stampede right towards me!
'Perfect! Stay like that!'
Without wasting a second, I throw the other rock I was holding right at the lizard!
WHOOSH*
Seeing the lizard jump over the rock throw with its propulsion I quickly switch to my back up plan!
While spinning in circles midair I aim upwards with my spear and throw!
In midair I see the spear sink right into the spinning cyan lizard.
'Yes!'
With its momentum killed it falls onto the surface now wounded. Not wasting another moment, I hurriedly pick up a nearby rock and-
"Grahhhhhh!!!"
SNAP*
hearing Inv's roar followed by a loud snap I look back to where Inv is, and I'm left shocked yet again.
At Inv's feet I see the cyan lizard unmoving. Its head twisted at an unnatural angle.
'Holy shit! Did he snap its fucking neck?! That's cra-
"JOEY LOK OU!!" while staring in disbelief at Inv's kill I see his eyes widen as he screams this right at me.
Quickly looking back, I see the injured lizard made its way closer to me and is shooting its tongue out at me!
Not able to react, the lizard's tongue attaches right onto my arm. Worse, it was the arm I picked up the rock with. Accidently dropping the rock from this, my heart sinks.
Feeling instant dread, I use all my strength to get away from the lizard. But with my strength I quickly start losing the game of tug of war with the lizard's tongue.
'Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK!' Starting to panic from the imminent jaws of the lizard, I try to think of anything to get out of this situation.
Feeling myself start to grow weaker from trying to pull away. I'm about to be in the radius of the lizard's jaws until I see something flash in front of me?
Still pulling back I immediately feel nothing pulling me forward which makes me fall backwards. Confused by the sudden freedom I look up as fast as I can to see Inv now standing in front of me with his claws out… and a long cut off tongue from the lizard!
HISSSSSS*
Hearing a loud screeching hiss come from Inv I see him pounce towards the injured lizard!
During mid pounce the lizard's tail starts vibrating, showing it is about to jump off. But before the lizard can finish, Inv collides with the lizard.
WHOOSH*
In terror, I watch as both Inv and the cyan lizard shoot high up from the propulsion. Not able to do anything I watch looking up fearing for Inv.
While in midair I see the cyan lizard try to snap Inv with its jaw several times, blood falling down each time the lizards snaps its jaw probably due to the cut off tongue. Each time though, Inv swipes it away with its claws leaving deep gashes on its face.
Not able to get ahold of Inv, both of them reach the crescendo of the propulsion. Before they both start dropping down, I see the cyan lizard hook onto the walls high up. Its intention to not drop down with Inv.
But before the lizard can safely hook itself to the wall, Inv grabs the lizard's tail last second before falling back down.
Caught off guard, the lizard's claws slip off the wall and start falling back down with Inv.
Holding tightly onto the lizards tail I see Inv start to… spin?
With strength I can't even believe, I see Inv start spinning the lizard at very fast speeds rapidly approaching the ground!
Right before hitting the ground, I see Inv swing the entire lizard's body, carried by the momentum of the spinning, the lizards head is the first thing to impact the ground and-
SPLAT*
…
…
…
Its head immediately busts open… the insides of its head splattered… everywhere. Behind the dead lizard I see Inv land on the ground somehow not getting injured as if such a height can't hurt him.
Looking back at the dead lizard I'm still a bit surprised on how Inv killed it... This isn't as gory as the one time I watched 2 train lizards fight but this is still pretty sick…
With the battle over I feel all tension leave my body.
'That was… close' I solemnly think to myself.
'Again… I would've died if it weren't for Inv… am… am I really that useless?' I feel my paws slightly clench from anger.
Anger at myself for being so weak… am I just holding Inv back?
"J-joey?"
Raising my head up I see Inv standing in front of me with a concerned look.
Noticing this I push these thoughts away. Now's not the time to feel all butt hurt for myself!
"Are you ok Inv?! Are you hurt anywhere?? I can't tell with all the blood…" I start quickly circling Inv trying to see if Inv is hurt anywhere. Unsurprisingly I can't tell due to the shifting-colored skin and Inv mainly being covered in blood and gore at this point.
"I-im fin!" Inv stops my circling by putting both of his paws on my shoulders looking down at me.
"R u ok?" Inv asks me.
"Y-yeah… I'm fine… my arm is just bruised is all…" I say back to Inv sheepishly. Seeing Inv genuinely concerned for me is… comforting.
As long as we both survive then it's ok… I just need to learn how to support Inv better…
