Chapter 19 - A New Sword

Cassian went on to his weapons class, where he focused on the cut skill. However, the sense enhancement skill made his body feel entirely different.

While swinging, he noticed the tiniest of differences in his grip and the slightest pull on the sword by the air.

'Even just thirty-two percent caused this much of a change, what about higher levels?'

He followed the path his senses laid out for him, swinging the sword as fast as he could. A couple of hours later, he received the sword cut skill.

After the class was done, he quickly checked his new skill.

[Sword Cut - level 1

Active Skill

Mana Cost: 5

Restrictions: Sword

Effect: Increases one attack's cutting speed by 10%]

The three basic Swordsman skills, Sword Cut, Sword Slash, and Sword Thrust, were the basis of the three paths a swordsman could take. A swordsman can only stack the skills of one of the three paths at a time.

One could not cut while slashing at the same time.

However, having all the basic skills was still important at the beginning. He had to find which of the three paths he was the most fit for.

Some swordsmen tried to develop multiple paths, but they were not the ones who went down in history. Only those who specialized and devoted themselves to one path became strong.

Swordsmen were actually quite similar to assassins; they both had high burst damage and low defense. However, assassins had supportive skills that aimed to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, a swordsman would always be on the frontline.

Since Cassian did not have guidance sessions with the teachers, he went straight to the front gate to wait for Alizée.

What he did not expect was for her to be standing there waiting for him.

She was outside in the sun, silently, with her arms waiting patiently by her sides.

The two quickly spotted each other, as they were the only ones there.

'Of course she doesn't need guidance from the teachers; her family would do a much better job.'

"Why are you so early? Do you not have the guidance period?"

She asked, confused at the sight of him.

"No, I do not."

Alizée realized what that meant and began to regret her words.

"S-shall we leave?"

She waved her arms enthusiastically at a black limousine behind her.

"Sure, but can we stop at my house briefly?"

He sat down inside the car and buckled himself in.

To his surprise, Alizée placed herself right next to him.

"I see no reason why not?"

After relaying the address to the driver, the car set off, and an awkward silence fell.

However, the silence was not as awkward for Cassian; he finally got a chance to really look at Alizée up close.

Whenever he talked to her, he had to be careful with his intentions. He focused on his words, their possible interpretations, and the people around them.

But now, he could actually appreciate her beauty. Her long, blue hair fell past her waist straight; it gave off a slight sheen which drew his attention deeply.

Her eyes were big and her nose small.

She had pale but slightly pinkish skin with small red lips.

She was sitting with her knees together and her hands placed on top of each other.

She was wearing the school's uniform, which was a white skirt and vermillion blazer for women.

Overall, she had a gentle and innocent vibe to her that perfectly matched her cute face.

His thoughts were interrupted by the driver announcing they arrived at the location.

The pair exited the car, and he invited her inside shortly.

"May I ask why you wanted to stop here?"

Alizée's soft voice filled the silent house.

"I have more equipment to sell."

"Where did you get more equipment?"

Her voice sounded concerned.

Cassian rounded up all the equipment and tied it together.

"Some people tried to attack me."

Alizée flinched, "They attacked you? Are you alright?"

A frown filled her face.

"I am fine, I have my regeneration skill."

He lifted all the equipment over his shoulder.

"By the way, are your parents home? I would like to meet them."

He froze.

"Uh… No, they are not home."

Another lie left his mouth too easily.

"I see, I guess I will have to meet them another time."

With that, the two left and headed towards Alizée's house.

It was a grand mansion with a large front gate. After the two arrived, a line of maids greeted them.

"Welcome, young master and company." They all bowed as the two walked past.

Alizée led him to a waiting room. It had comfortable furniture and many displays of art, or rather, wealth.

Cassian waited patiently, thoughts of his new sword filled his mind.

Alizée returned with a long case, and a small sense of excitement filled him. At one point, he was also another teenager wanting to awaken to his own adventure. He once wanted to level up proudly and fight to the death against the enemies of humanity.

However, that dream was weakened after awakening as an F-rank and obliterated after making the deal with Cypher.

Now, the equipment was only really worth what it could do for him.

"I shall not make you wait any longer."

Alizée directly handed over the sword, which he immediately opened. Inside the box was a silver longsword, with fanciful engravings of flowers on the blade.

Picking up the sword, he could tell it was well-balanced and otherwise well-made. The grip held comfortably in his hand, and the weight did not strain his wrists too much.

He finally checked the stats of the sword.

[White Longsword - Uncommon - Swordsman Class Required - Strength+5 Agility+3 - Increases sword damage by 6.6%]

The grades of equipment go as follows: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and then there was unique which was outside of the grading system.

This sword showed the difference between common and uncommon grade equipment. Common equipment has a maximum stat bonus of three, while uncommon equipment has a maximum of ten. Additionally, uncommon equipment has additional options that greatly enhance its worth.

"This is worth too much." Cassian raised this problem.

"Not really, the cloak was worth a lot, and since the sword has a class requirement, it is worth a lot less."

Saying this, she pointed back into the box where there was another piece of equipment. It was a small pendant, a metallic circle.

He quickly checked the equipment.

[Circle Pendant - Common - Penetration+1]

"This is too precious."

Cassian was exasperated; Alizée had really gone too far in her support.

This pendant had an attribute bonus, not a stat one. Which already made it worth a lot, but more importantly, that stat was penetration. As aforementioned, nearly every monster in existence has at least one defense.

The value of this equipment to a student entering their first dungeon was nearly priceless. In other words, the equipment was not too powerful, but had an extremely high demand.

He never expected that just by asking for her help, she would spoil him like this.

'I absolutely can not let this become a debt.'

"Cassian, you should be absolutely prepared to go to the dungeon with this."

Alizée was smiling brightly, and the sight burnt itself into his eyes.
