Nora's POV
The imposing brick and stone structures rise before us as we approach the building that houses the Gathering Hall. Connected to the Academy along with faculty and student residences, these ancient buildings have stood since the eighteen hundreds. Modern conveniences have been carefully integrated without destroying their historic character. Heat, air conditioning, electricity, and updated plumbing exist alongside the original architecture. Every time I cross the threshold, warmth spreads through my chest. The Academy wraps around me like a security blanket, its familiar presence as comforting as an old companion.
A crackling fire dances in the massive fireplace, while the Gathering Hall doors stand wide open. We bypass it, heading down a shadowy corridor lined with stone walls and cobblestone flooring that makes the temperature drop noticeably. Ancient lanterns mounted on the walls cast flickering light and minimal warmth as we pass beneath them.
