Nora's POV
Electric tension crackles through the air around me, though I can't tell if it stems from my rage feeding my magic or from approaching archangels.
"Consider this carefully, Nora," Hugo begins, extending his hands peacefully as he edges closer. "Your daughter is inside that house." Blood trickles from his nose as he shakes his head slowly. "They will detect the divinity within her."
Damn it. He's absolutely right. And damn it, his nose is bleeding because of something I did.
"I'm sorry," I whisper, feeling my wings retract and vanish. I glance over each shoulder to confirm they're gone, and then reality crashes down on me like a tidal wave. "I'm sorry," I repeat, my voice cracking.
"It's alright, kiddo." Hugo approaches and wraps one arm around me. "Everything will be alright."
"James." His name is all I can manage without breaking down completely. James mounted that horse and transformed into a Horseman. He descended into the Underworld because of me.
