Nora's POV
James's voice drifts through my consciousness like warm honey. "Good morning, my love."
My body stretches against the mattress as I shift, arms reaching overhead before I push myself upright. "What time is it?"
"Nearly ten."
"That's late for me." Sunlight streams through the windows, and I can hear wind battering against the house. Maybe it's bringing warmer weather our way.
"Brent sent you a message last night." James's gaze falls on my phone resting on the nightstand. "Past midnight. He has no business contacting you that late."
"Your jealousy is showing," I mutter. "I stay awake until three most nights anyway. It could have been about demon activity."
"Which proves my point exactly."
I roll my eyes and reach for my phone. The battery shows two percent since I forgot to plug in the charger.
Brent: Haven't heard from you in a while. Everything okay?
"Just checking in," I tell James, settling back against the pillows to respond.
