Taking Kevin to see his first movie in a theater felt like a risk, especially choosing a 3D romantic comedy that would have made James roll his eyes. But watching my angelic cousin navigate the experience of wearing those bulky black glasses while munching on buttery popcorn made every moment worthwhile. We tossed our glasses into the collection bin as we left the nearly empty theater in Paradise Valley.
The town had more charm than Vivian Hill but maintained that cozy small-town atmosphere. Our afternoon showing attracted mostly elderly couples and mothers with restless toddlers. Spring sunshine warmed the air enough for me to shed my cardigan in the parking lot. James had insisted I take his expensive Mercedes for our outing, wanting me to enjoy every luxury. I snapped a quick selfie from the driver's seat to ease his protective worries.
