Nora's POV
The words tumble out before I can stop them. "I can't stay here." My eyebrows draw together as panic rises in my chest. "I need to go home."
Dmitri studies my face while James watches me with that intense stare of his. They both sense what I'm feeling deep down. Standing here with my wings unfurled and this crown resting on my head feels incredible. Natural. Like this is exactly where I belong.
But that terrifies me.
I'm only half archangel. There's still a huge part of me that craves the human world. I want to feel sunshine on my skin and rain in my hair. I want to stare up at the night sky and see actual stars and the moon. I miss my friends and simple things like grabbing lunch together or spending lazy afternoons watching terrible movies.
I miss complaining about difficult customers at Literary Grounds and pretending I hate working retail when secretly I loved that little bookstore.
And Renata changes everything.
