Have you ever wished the earth would crack open and swallow you completely, erasing every trace of your existence?
Like Persephone dragged into the underworld, except without the powerful god who claimed her. Just trapped in darkness, stripped of any glimmer of hope for months on end.
That's exactly how I feel right now. I want to dissolve into vapor and slip through the door crack. Maybe then I could escape my husband's knowing smirk.
The smirk wasn't even the worst part. My cheeks blazed with humiliation as Jonathan's naked form rose from the water, making me swallow hard. The terrifying thought of him inside me sent an uncomfortable heat spiraling through my core.
My feet moved backward instinctively as he stood from the bathtub edge, eliminating the space between us. The cold door handle jabbed into my spine while his eyes held mine captive.
