Chapter 207 - Chapter 210 Nick Fury's Phone Call

Chapter 210 Nick Fury's Phone Call

  "I understand!"

Although he had previously achieved feats like beating up gods and single-handedly destroying ships, Finney was actually aware of his true strength.

On Earth, he could run rampant, but in the universe, not to mention Thanos and Ego, even encountering some strange technology could lead to his downfall.

  "I'll be careful."

Even though the universe was dangerous, Finney still wanted to go and see it. Although he wasn't that powerful, he wasn't someone anyone could bully.

Besides, he was carrying the Space Stone, so if he wanted to escape, not many people could stop him.

Moreover, even that idiot Star-Lord could build a Guardians of the Galaxy; as long as he and Tony were careful, they shouldn't encounter any major problems.

  "Alright!"

Ancient One sighed. Because of Finney, she had long lost control of the future, so most of the time, she didn't hinder Finney's actions.

She only hoped to guide Finney in the right direction, and that the future could protect Earth.

"So when do you plan to go?"

  Ancient One asked.

"Uh, let's wait until after the New Year!"

The New Year is right after Christmas, but many Americans don't value it, perhaps because they prioritize Christmas.

However, last time, he was on Vormir, and he didn't spend either Christmas or New Year's with his family, so he didn't want to miss it again this time.

  "Hmm."

The Ancient One nodded without saying much, which relieved Finney, who quickly continued, "But I don't know the location of Asgard, and I don't know how to get there!"

Hearing Finney's words, the Ancient One reached out and pressed her palm against his forehead. Instantly, a scene of Asgard appeared in Finney's mind.

Then the Ancient One withdrew her palm, the scene disappeared, but the coordinates of Asgard remained in Finney's mind.

  "Thank you, teacher!"

Finney thanked her happily. Sure enough, having a powerful backer made any difficulties easier to overcome.

"I'll speak to Odin about this, but you need to be careful and avoid trouble,"

the Ancient One cautioned Finney. After all, this was Asgard, and if Finney caused serious trouble, she would have a hard time rescuing people from Odin's clutches.

  "Yes, I will,"

Finney quickly nodded. He was going to trade, and since he didn't know the map's value, he had prepared several items, at least those not found in Asgard.

Having received permission and the coordinates, Finney didn't bother the Ancient One any further and happily left Kamar-Taj.

Watching Finney's departing figure, the Ancient One gazed for a moment, her eyes filled with worry, and sighed softly. Then, her soul left her body and headed to a hospital in New York.

  …

Perhaps influenced by her past life, even after so many years, Finney still felt nothing for Christmas, but Skye was different.

Over the years, she had always been quite excited about Christmas, and this year was no exception. As soon as he got home, she excitedly ran over and said, "Finney , tomorrow is Christmas!"

  "Yeah, what's up?"

Finney replied casually, still thinking about going to Asgard.

"Do you think I can go and spend it with them?"

Skye suddenly whispered. For so many years, they had spent every Christmas together as a family of four, except for the last time when Finney was stranded on Vormir and couldn't come back.

Finney was slightly taken aback, looked up and saw the nervous expression on Skye's face, and couldn't help but smile, replying, "Of course you can. This should be the first time you've spent the holiday together, right? You can stay there for a while longer."

The "they" Skye referred to were her biological parents. They had been doing very well lately; Carl had opened a pet clinic, and Jiaying helped him out, their lives were simple yet fulfilling.

  "Really?"

Skye's face lit up with joy, but then she added with concern, "But won't this be bad for Mom and Dad?"

  "You're not going away forever!"

Finney rolled her eyes, glanced at her, and said, "It's just a holiday. Pack your things, I'll take you there now. I'll explain to Mom and Dad."

  "Hmph!"

Hearing Finney's words, Skye felt a little relieved, but also somewhat annoyed. She glared at him fiercely before going back inside to pack.

After seeing Skye off, Finney didn't go home. Instead, he went to his parents' house, explained Skye's situation to them, and spent the holiday with them.

Christmas didn't mean much to him, but it had a significant impact on others. So on Christmas Day, everyone he knew contacted him to send their blessings.

This even included someone Finney never expected.

  "Merry Christmas!"

Hearing Nick Fury's holiday greeting on the phone, Finney's mouth dropped open slightly in surprise. He replied, "Merry Christmas! I never expected you to call!"

"Agents are human too, they need a holiday too,"

Nick Fury said on the phone, then asked, "Do you have time lately?"

  "What?"

Finney knew that Nick Fury's call wasn't just a simple holiday greeting.

"There's something I want to talk to you about."

Hearing this, Finney was curious. For Nick Fury to reach him, it couldn't be something simple. He couldn't help but ask, "What is it?"

"It's not convenient over the phone, let's talk in person!"

But Nick Fury didn't explain what it was about.

Finney was curious about what Nick Fury wanted, so he didn't refuse and arranged to meet the day after tomorrow.

After hanging up, Finney pondered. He thought about it, and realized that there shouldn't be any major events happening on Earth at this time. Therefore, the reason Nick Fury contacted him was most likely related to Hydra.

"Is the plot going to be moved forward?"

Finney wondered to himself. He wasn't naive enough to believe everything would unfold exactly as he remembered it.

He'd been in this world for so many years, and he'd almost destroyed the Avengers, so how could he possibly believe things would continue according to the original storyline?

Especially lately, Hydra had been in considerable turmoil.

First, one of its leaders, Whitehall, disappeared. Although Sitwell had handled it exceptionally well, the Zola incident, the Sokovia base, and the Winter Soldier Corps followed, ultimately causing some chaos within Hydra.

While Hydra was adept at concealment, it couldn't withstand so many blows, so some oversights were inevitable, and it wasn't impossible for them to be discovered.

After all, Nick Fury wasn't a simple man. He'd suspected internal problems as early as the Whiplash incident, but Hydra's infiltration was so extensive that he hadn't found the cause.

Thinking that Nick Fury might want to talk to him about Hydra, Finney pondered how to answer him.

Actually, Finney's idea regarding Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. was for them to disappear together, as in the original storyline. However, given the current situation, if Nick Fury discovers this early enough, there might still be hope of eliminating Hydra.

Although this might severely weaken S.H.I.E.L.D., at least they could survive.

I'm experiencing some writer's block, hence the late post... I need to think about how to proceed with the plot...
