Chapter 201 Something's Wrong
Seeing the thirty-odd Iron Man suits before him, Finney swallowed hard, a sudden urge to beat up his teammates first.
After graduation, he had wasted a lot of time researching the Mind Scepter, and then immediately went to Wakanda to solve the Tesseract problem.
Therefore, he still hadn't accumulated enough experience from his eighth extraction. His plan to cause trouble for Killian was to get that much experience from him.
Looking tempted at the Mark series of suits that were starting to fly away, Finney ultimately couldn't bring himself to do it. If he beat up all those suits first, Tony would definitely fight him to the death.
Half an hour passed quickly. Rhodes, using some unknown method, successfully persuaded the president and, wearing the original War Machine suit now renamed Iron Patriot, arrived in Miami, successfully reuniting with Finney and Tony.
Outside a villa, Rhodes looked around and asked doubtfully, "Is it here? It doesn't look like a terrorist base. Could we have gotten the wrong place?"
Tony shook his head, told Jarvis to hide the remaining thirty-odd suits of armor, and replied, "Impossible. The video signal came from here. Even if they're not here, this place is still connected to them!"
Rhodes trusted Tony's skills, nodded, and continued, "So what do we do now? Just rush in?"
"I'll go in and check things out first!"
Finney was also worried about any unexpected events and decided to go in and scout things out first.
"I'll go with you!"
Tony immediately said, then stepped out of his armor, had J.a.r.v.i.s bring over another suit, put it on again, and then, to Finney and Rhodes's astonishment, his figure gradually disappeared.
"Wow!"
Rhodes's eyes immediately lit up with envy, while Finney was slightly surprised and asked, "When did you create an invisible suit of armor?"
"We made too many, I don't really remember, maybe a few months ago!?"
Even without seeing Tony's expression inside the armor, just from his smug tone, Finney and Rhodes could imagine he was beaming with pride.
"You guys aren't going to just go in and start fighting, are you?"
Rhodes suddenly worried that Finney and Tony would just abandon him like that, and suggested, "Why don't we just charge in together and catch them off guard!"
"Don't be silly!"
Finney gave Rhodes a speechless look, then seriously instructed, "If that Mandarin is inside, your main task is to bring him back to report, and leave the rest to us."
Although Rhodes's War Machine had undergone many modifications, it was still far inferior to Tony's, so Finney was still a little worried about leaving him here to fight.
"I feel like I'm just a gofer!"
Rhodes said with a dissatisfied expression. He used to be called War Machine, but in front of Finney and Tony, he always felt like a child who needed to be protected.
"Alright, alright, you stay here and wait. Let's go in and take a look."
After such a long delay, it was almost evening. Finney wanted to resolve this matter as soon as possible, so he activated his 'possessed by evil spirits' stealth mode.
The awkward thing was that although he and Tony were both invisible, they couldn't see each other and could only be detected by speaking.
"I'll go to the left, you start from the right. Come back here in ten minutes!"
Finney thought for a moment and felt there was no need to go together.
"Okay!"
Tony had no objection.
Then the two began to sneak into the villa, leaving Rhodes alone to look around. He stretched out his palm and touched the air, then cautiously asked, "Are they gone? Have you left already?"
...
It was just a very ordinary villa, with no special mechanisms. Apart from a group of black-clad bodyguards constantly patrolling, there was nothing special about it, so Finney easily sneaked in while invisible.
Finney surveyed his surroundings. The filthy environment seemed to have been neglected for some time; many rooms were empty, with only a few appearing to have been occupied.
Finney continued forward, quickly reaching the depths of the villa. Suddenly, he spotted some filming equipment, and heard voices nearby.
"Hey, hey, I need beer, and a pair of twins. You promised,
you'd provide them after each shoot." "Shut up, they'll be here in two days."
Finney quietly approached, glancing at the two men who had spoken. One was bald, wearing a leather jacket, and looked somewhat menacing.
The other was a short man with a full beard, his expression now timid and fearful. But anyone who had watched television in New York recently would likely recognize him—
the Mandarin, now a household name.
"Looks like Killian isn't here!"
Finding the Mandarin relieved Finney, but he wasn't particularly happy. His primary targets were Killian and his men injected with the Extremis virus.
The Mandarin, merely an actor, would at most reassure the public and add to Rhodes's reputation.
Finney didn't act rashly. After surveying the surroundings again, he returned ten minutes later. Rhodes was squatting on the ground, idly poking ants with a twig, muttering complaints to himself.
"What's wrong with War Machine? They say the public doesn't like it, but I haven't seen many people like it these days. So what if it can be invisible? Firepower is the most important thing!" He continued poking the ants as he spoke.
"Pfft!"
Hearing Rhodes' words, Finney couldn't help but laugh, startling him instantly. He immediately dropped the twig, activated all his weapons, and scanned his surroundings.
"Finney?
Tony?"
Rhodes asked tentatively, "You're back?"
"Actually, invisibility is really amazing!" Finney deactivated his invisibility beside Rhodes, patted his shoulder, and comforted him, "Besides, I also think War Machine sounds better!"
Rhodes silently put away his weapons, then thought to himself that he would definitely add anti-stealth devices to the armor when he got back.
Soon, Tony also returned safely and began to report the intelligence.
"I saw the Mandarin."
Tony glanced at Finney, frowned, and continued, "But he seemed a little off."
"No problem!" Finney understood Tony's meaning and explained, "He's just an actor, used by Killian to distract him so he can be the mastermind."
Tony and Rhodes were both slightly taken aback.
Although Finney had told them that Killian was responsible for everything, they hadn't expected the Mandarin to be just an actor.
"So what do we do now? Catching him won't stop the bombings."
Rhodes's expression was serious. As a member of the military, he knew best the casualties caused by these explosions.
"Here's what we'll do: Tony and I will try to lure Killian and his men over here. Rhodes, you take the Mandarin back first. If we don't manage to catch Killian, you announce in the media that you've caught the Mandarin.
That way, their plans will be difficult to carry out, and at least they shouldn't be causing any more explosions for a while!"
Finney thought for a moment and proposed a plan.
Hmm… the eighth skill is about to be released!
