Thor raised his hammer high, and a seven-colored beam of light descended from the sky, enveloping him and Loki. Then the beam vanished, and the two disappeared without a trace, leaving a complex mark on the ground.
The Battle of New York had finally come to an end.
This Battle of New York was undoubtedly a disastrous debut for the Avengers, with Finney dominating the entire spectacle.
Aside from a fleeting glimpse of Tony, Thor, and the controlled Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow didn't even make an appearance. In fact, the citizens of New York still didn't know Captain America had been resurrected.
However, this battle made Finney even more famous. It's estimated that after tomorrow, no one on Earth would be unaware of the Silver Knight or the Divine Punishment Knight.
With everything finished, Finney let out a long sigh of relief. He glanced at Nick Fury and said, "Alright, if there's nothing else, I'll head back."
Tony naturally had no objections. He'd had nearly three suits of armor destroyed, and his newly renovated building had been ravaged—he was incredibly unlucky.
Only Nick Fury frowned. Seeing Finney open the portal, he couldn't help but ask, "What are you going to do with those two things?"
Nick Fury had no intention of taking the Tesseract and the Mind Stone from Finney for the time being. Even Thor's Asgard had compromised; how could he dare to act recklessly without knowing the reasons?
"Maybe I'll take them apart someday and put them on a glove, specifically for giving the middle finger!"
Finney said with a smile, then stepped through the portal and disappeared from everyone's sight.
Nick Fury stared blankly at the spot where Finney had disappeared, then turned to Natasha and asked, "Did you understand what he meant?"
"Something like this!?"
Natasha thought for a moment, then made a universally understood hand gesture with her right hand.
Nick Fury's face darkened. He didn't speak, turned around, and prepared to leave. There was still a pile of alien corpses and weapons outside the building waiting for him to deal with.
Meanwhile, back home, Finney, though still weak, couldn't help but immediately take stock of his gains.
Although the Avengers' debut was a failure, his harvest couldn't be described merely as a bountiful harvest; it was a massive windfall, with all the benefits accumulating.
Two Infinity Stones: the Space Stone from the Tesseract and the Mind Stone in the Mind Stone, and most importantly, the massive amount of experience gained from annihilating the Chitauri fleet.
Finney hadn't expected that less than a day after drawing his seventh skill, he'd already filled more than half of the experience bar for his eighth skill.
But to be honest, the experience gained this time wasn't much, even frighteningly little. After all, the entire mothership had hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Chitauri soldiers, yet they hadn't even filled the experience bar with a single draw.
Actually, even if the experience bar had overflowed, Finney wouldn't have been too surprised; the fact that he hadn't filled the eighth draw's experience bar was more surprising.
Finney had never quite understood the system's judgment of experience gain, and since the system lacked intelligence, he couldn't even ask it.
However, these experiences were already a pleasant surprise; he hadn't even planned to open a portal to let the Chitauri come.
With two Infinity Stones in hand, he felt more confident. Even against the Ancient One, he felt he could at least manage a mutual destruction.
Of course, Finney wouldn't do such a test.
And now, on Earth, he could finally declare himself the strongest man.
As for the Ancient One, she was clearly the strongest bald woman!
But as powerful as these two stones were, as Thor said, very dangerous. Not to mention, Thanos, wanting to fulfill his dream, would eventually come after Finney.
So obtaining them wasn't the most important thing; the most important thing was how to protect them.
In fact, overall, the two Infinity Stones didn't significantly enhance Finney's abilities.
Or rather, it's because he can't truly use the Infinity Stones yet, and the Tesseract and Mind Stone's vessels offer limited utility for him.
He has 'Explosion Magic' for energy projection, and he has portals for teleportation.
Fortunately, he only wants these two things: one for brainwashing people, and the other as sustenance for evolution; he doesn't intend to use them against anyone.
Looking at the scepter and Tesseract in his hand, Finney thought of Thor, who had just left.
Actually, he had already planned to open a portal and escape to recover, but Thor had unexpectedly compromised first, which clearly had a reason.
"Could it be that Odin is wary of my strength?"
Finney wondered, stroking his chin.
If anyone could have witnessed his battle with the Chitauri, Odin or Heimdall were possibilities. Although Odin only had one eye, Finney wasn't entirely sure of his abilities.
Heimdall was much simpler; his eye could see many things, so it wasn't impossible for him to have seen the battle.
However, Finney sensed that things weren't that simple. While that 'explosive magic' was incredibly powerful, it shouldn't have made Odin too wary.
After all, Asgard's Bifrost was a planet-destroying weapon, and he had only destroyed a Chitauri mothership. While few in the universe could accomplish such a feat, they weren't unheard of.
Finney was more concerned that his identity as a Kamar-Taj sorcerer might have been discovered.
After all, he had never hidden those iconic portals.
"Could they mistakenly believe I'm the next Sorcerer Supreme?!"
Finney felt this possibility wasn't out of the question. He knew from his past life that Doctor Strange was the Ancient One's chosen successor.
But Odin didn't know that, and even within Kamar-Taj, there were those who suspected Finney might be the next Sorcerer Supreme.
Although his magical talent wasn't great, his ability to make fried chicken nuggets... oops, his strength was undeniable!
Thinking that he hadn't visited Kamar-Taj since returning, Finney planned to go there that evening after recovering.
Lying in bed, Finney pondered everything that had happened in the past few days. The Chitauri, who had once filled him with dread, had been dealt with so easily.
He had even considered fighting alongside the Avengers in a tough battle, and what to do if a nuclear missile were launched.
But who could have predicted that he would single-handedly resolve this alien invasion? Over the past few years, his strength had undergone a dramatic transformation.
"But this is just the beginning!"
Although he had easily dealt with the Chitauri, Finney knew this was far from the end. Earth faced many dangers. Looking further ahead, the threat of Thanos' snap hadn't been completely eliminated. Closer to home, the Dark Elves' universe-wide Nightfall plan was about to be launched.
And further still, if Dormammu arrived, he would be even more terrifying than Thanos.
Furthermore, there's also the seed of Ego's sphere left on Earth. Who knows, it might explode the day Star-Lord, that "power bank," comes online.
And then there's Thor's sister, Hela. If Odin dies and Thor doesn't trigger Ragnarok in time, allowing Hela to rule Asgard, and Earth doesn't accept her rule, war is inevitable.
Thinking of all this, Finney couldn't help but sigh silently. Earth's future is truly fraught with peril!
