The trek to the Battle Tower felt like approaching a cathedral of competition. It is the tallest spire on the island, a gleaming monument to pure battling ability. No gimmicks, no lucky doors, and no instinct-only rules. Here, it's just the trainer's mind and the Pokémon's raw power.
"This is it, Jake," May said, looking up at the silver-and-blue spire. "The Tower doesn't care about your 'Vigor' or your songs unless you've got the skill to back it up. Anabel is a telepath—she'll be in your head before the first Poké Ball even hits the ground."
🗼 The Tower Climb: Elite Excellence
For the Tower, I needed a team that could handle any type, any strategy.
The Team: Eli (Gardevoir) was the star of the show. She was joined by Kage (Sceptile) and Blaze (Blaziken), who May lent back to me for this "Classic" run.The Streak: We climbed 35 floors of relentless pressure. Eli was a powerhouse, her Psychic waves dismantling teams before they could even move. She didn't just fight; she corrected the opponents' mistakes with a haughty flick of her wrist.
🔮 The Salon Maiden: Anabel
When we reached the top floor, the doors hissed open to reveal a quiet, violet-haired woman standing in a field of flowers inside the tower's peak. She didn't speak. She didn't need to. Her eyes met mine, and for a second, I felt a ripple in my own mind—she was reading the Stamina Band's frequency.
"You have a loud heart, Jake," her voice echoed directly in my head. "Let's see if your Gardevoir can keep up with a mind that has no limits."
[The Track Kicks In: "Just the Way I Am" by Skye Sweetnam]
The high-energy, pop-rock defiance of the song filled the arena. It was the perfect anthem for Eli—the "Diva" who refused to be anything other than her spectacular, haughty self.
Round 1: The Psychic Duel
Anabel sent out Alakazam. I led with Eli.
The Clash: It was a battle of mental fortresses. Alakazam used Recover and Calm Mind, trying to out-think us.
The Diva's Response: As the lyrics hit "I'm not gonna change / I'm just the way I am," Eli didn't try to out-calculate him. She used Trace, copying Alakazam's Synchronize ability, then unleashed a Shadow Ball with such "Indifferent" grace it shattered Alakazam's barrier.
Round 2: The Tank vs. The Dancer
Anabel brought out Snorlax. A massive wall with Body Slam.
The Strategy: Anabel's telepathy was predicting my commands. So, I stopped commanding. I let Eli listen to the song.
The Move: Eli used Moonblast, the pink energy swirling around her like a spotlight. As she danced to the beat, her movements became unpredictable even for a telepath. She wore the Snorlax down with sheer, relentless "indifference" to its size.
Round 3: The Final Flash
Anabel's ace: Entei. The legendary volcano Pokémon.
The High Note: The music reached the final chorus. Eli looked back at me, her eyes glowing with a blue psychic fire.
The Finish: "Eli! Don't just win... Transcending is much more fashionable!"Eli channeled the Obsidian Key's resonance into a Stored Power attack. Because of the previous buffs and the emotional peak of the song, the blast was a prismatic beam of light that engulfed the arena. When the smoke cleared, Entei was down.
🏅 The Silver Ability Symbol
Anabel walked forward, her expression neutral but her mental "voice" sounding impressed. "Your bond is... unconventional. Most trainers try to control the mind. You just let the heart sing."
She handed over the Silver Ability Symbol. 5 symbols down. 2 to go.
[Chat Log: TOWER_TAKEOVER]
GymBro_Chuck: ELIZABETH IS A QUEEN! She didn't even mess up her hair!
IceCreamQueen_C: Did you see Anabel's face? Even a telepath couldn't predict Skye Sweetnam!
Master_Oak: The way Eli used Trace to neutralize Alakazam was brilliant. Ability indeed.
As we left the tower, Eli was checking her reflection in the shiny surface of the symbol. She looked at me, gave a small, haughty nod of approval, and returned to her Poké Ball with a flourish.
