Genevieve
1 week later...
I gazed at the ceiling above me while completely drained of energy.
What will happen to me?
That thought has been with me for the past days ever since I came here to this stupid building, just resting all day, but they always give me daily pills, yet I don't even know what they do to me.
I stood up and sat on my desk to get lost in the view outside the window.
The trees were swaying and hitting each other; the wind looked so strong today, there might be heavy rain coming. I looked down below and saw vehicles.
I examined the sky, and it was just cloudy grey with no sign of the sun, combined with the strong wind making the tree branches dance.
I sighed and stood up; my eyes landed on the door.
I walked towards the door and opened it. I feel like exploring today since I have nothing to do in this stupid building but just look at the window all day, lie on the bed, and drink tons of shit pills even though I'm not sick.
I walked around the hallway, and after a few minutes of walking my ass everywhere, I found an elevator.
I clicked the down arrow and went inside the elevator. I smiled at the design of the walls.
I think it's a special elevator; the walls are glass with golden railings on them, and it was glittery.
I posed at the mirrors, looking dumb enough to be a crazy person.
The elevator suddenly opened, and a boy with white-blonde hair entered.
I observed him from head to toe through the reflection of the elevator; his hair is white, while his eyes are light blue, combined with pale skin.
I looked away when our eyes met, gulped down my saliva, and slightly moved back because his aura is overwhelming.
"Accept the core." My brows furrowed at his word, and before I could speak, the elevator opened, and he quickly stepped out and left me.
I pressed the underground button and felt nausea entering my body as I felt the elevator going down.
I'm not the only one crazy here, I see...
Am I crazy? Yeah, I think so with how MUCH they give those pills every day. What are those anyway?
I stepped out of the elevator, and I caught all the scientists' attention with my footstep being so loud.
"Can I have my phone back?" I asked one of the scientists near me, and she came closer to me and held my shoulder.
"We can't give you your phone back; your experiment will be held in 1 hour. Please ready yourself both mentally and physically," the scientist said with a stern tone, so I scoffed.
"Can't I talk to my family? Just a minute, please," I begged them.
The scientist looked at me with an irritated face, and she grabbed something from her pocket.
"Here's the access card for the important files room. Your phone is on the front table; don't do anything stupid there. Floor number 2." She handed me the card, and I smiled at her. I went back to the elevator and pressed the 2.
After minutes of waiting, the elevator door opened, and I went outside. The cold air crept around me as I glanced at the single door in front of me, so I went there and tried the keys.
The keys worked, and I went inside only to see a table. I walked closer to it and opened one of its small wardrobes. My lips curved into a smile when I saw my phone, and I snatched it out.
Elysia
It's Monday today, and there are no teachers today since they have a meeting for the upcoming examination next week, so right now our class is just being noisy.
I looked at my cellphone. It's been days, 6 days, I think? And there's no sign of Genevieve, not even a text, call, or anything.
I sighed and clicked Genevieve's number and called it one more time. I gasped when it finally rang, and I became silent when she accepted the call.
"Elysia." Her gentle tone hit me like a splash of cold water. I missed her so much.
Tears streamed down my face when I heard her call my name. I began to sob.
"So you just called me now? Don't you miss us? Your family? Our friends? What happened to you? Did they hurt you?" My voice was shaky and full of worry while flooding her with my questions.
"I'm fine; they didn't let me use my phone. I don't know why."
I turned on my camera, and she did the same. I cried even harder when I saw her on the screen.
Nicole, Shai, and Ethan approached me, and Nicole was about to ask, but I showed them the screen.
"Hello, guys."
Nicole and Shai bawled their eyes out with me while they all asked her the same thing, and I remained silent, admiring her face.
My eyebrows furrowed when I took notice of her detailed appearance. She looked completely spent; her lips aren't pinkish anymore, and her skin is pale.
We continued talking with her for a few minutes until she signaled us to stop the conversation.
"Hey, I only have 30 minutes left until they experiment on me. I just want to say that I miss you guys and see you soon!" I saw her smile before she ended the video call.
Her smile is genuine; I feel like there's something off...
"Let's just hope that she's going to be ok," Nicole assured us, but it didn't help me.
Why is my mind blank?
"I'm worried." They all looked at me.
"What if the experiment fails and hurts her? It seems possible," I added, and Shai held my shoulder.
"We're all worried, but we should just think of the best way possible," Shai assured me. I nodded, trying to ignore what I feel.
We all talked about Genevieve for the past few minutes until our advisor came to the classroom and told us to go to the gymnasium.
My breath stopped when I heard him say we're going to watch the experiment on Genevieve.
Third Person's View
Genevieve gazed at the tub she's going to lie on, with the needles on the side.
She turned her glance at the scientists, busy working on their computers, and one of them approached her to grab her arm, and the woman accompanied her closer to the clear tub.
All she could feel was her emotions numbing themselves to protect her mental state.
"Please lie on the glass tub and remove your clothes except for your underwear and bra."
Genevieve started removing her clothes, oblivious to the fact that the experiment room was being broadcast live worldwide.
The people wearing protective suits helped her to get into the glass tub, and when she lay down on the transparent glass tank, water started to fill up the tub until it reached her nose. She stopped her breath and closed her eyes.
She felt nothing at first, but her brain's protective mechanism of shutting down her emotions betrayed her when she felt handcuffs on her wrist. Her eyes burst open as she looked around, but it was all blurry due to the water, and she couldn't move anything; she was completely restrained from even moving an inch.
Her eyes remained open in the water, trying to move, but the restraints were too strong, and she began to feel dizzy from holding her breath.
"The distilled listalien water will help avoid a violent reaction as soon as it enters her system when she drowns, correct?" The intern woman asked the red-haired scientist, who only gave her a nod as a response to her question.
Genevieve noticed something beside each glass that looked like big needles, and the heartbeat monitor began to beep loudly.
Genevieve tried to get out, but she was locked inside; her heartbeat rose to 240 beats per minute on the monitor.
She tried to scream when the needles went inside her skin altogether: two needles in each of her arms, another two needles on her thighs and calves, and a big needle inside her head.
The listalien entered her mouth as soon as she opened it to scream, causing her to drown while the needles injected the liquid of the void core.
The computers in the experiment room became loud, beeping all over the place, and her heart rate became so high that she could die any moment now. All of them watched as Genevieve's body became unresponsive.
Once the fluid that was injected into her whole body ran out, the needles slowly dissolved.
The computers stopped beeping and went silent. They looked at her heart rate, which had completely dropped.
All of them became silent and looked at her bleeding body in the tub, turning the water red.
On the other hand, at the gym of their school.
Elysia kept cursing while looking at the screen. Her other friends comforted her, and Ivan just remained seated in his seat, looking at the screen very carefully.
The people were whispering, and everyone felt the silence being loud enough to send chills down everyone.
Then suddenly the glass lock broke, and she sat while catching her breath. The medical team immediately helped her get out of the tub, but she fell on her knees.
"It hurts." Genevieve's raspy voice hinted at her excruciating pain, but her body had completely healed the scars made by the big needles.
She continued crying while hugging her knees, and when one of the medical team members tried to touch her shoulders, the man was swallowed by a pure black liquid, and it swallowed him completely, making him disappear from touching her shoulders.
Everyone was shocked by what happened. She slowly stood up while holding her head.
"IT HURTS!" She screamed at them, and when they tried to get closer to her, her hands became uncontrollable and poured out a massive amount of black liquid.
The liquid became a vine with thorns as she continued to scream in agony while holding her head; the dark thorn vines strangled everyone in the room.
Her eyes began to glow white, her mind filled with uncontrollable thoughts, and her body aching.
A dark liquid slowly went back into her and merged with her skin until it completely covered her whole body.
The lightbulbs in the room shattered, and some of the scientists who were still alive were already wearing an immunity suit; they knew this would happen.
The president of the scientists tried to grab his flashlight from his pocket, but he heard bone snapping, and it became closer. When he managed to get his flashlight, he opened it and lost his breath when he saw the black figure in front of him with glowing white eyes.
"Genevieve, please con—" She didn't let him finish and snapped his bone.
On the other hand, at the gym.
The live broadcast ended, and everyone remained silent, completely speechless from what they saw.
The principal made them go back to their classroom.
Elysia and her other friends remained silent when they reached their room and sat quietly.
