He expected darkness. Expected the void, the nothingness that came after a blade through the heart.
Instead, he hung suspended around crimson sparks. Thousands of them, maybe millions, scattered through a space with no floor, no ceiling, no walls. It was like standing inside a blooming star.
"So we're here again," it was neither a question nor a statement, but a feeling, a resolution sourced from resignation.
"Yeah," a similar voice responded.
Auryn stayed motionless. Floating without drifting, with crimson eyes staring directly at a white crystal mirror.
Mist floated across the mirror surface to reveal another Auryn. Stark naked as the former but his eyes were pupilless and completely gold.
"We tried our best," the crimson-eyed Auryn spoke with a gentle tone.
"Yeah we did," the golden Auryn moved for the first time and scratched his head.
"We?" the crimson Auryn repeated like the word was blasphemous to his ears.
