Chapter 15 - No Escape From the Purple Shadow

Helena and Hailey who was still glued to her slipped out of the cabin, with Jaspin following right behind carrying two bottles of water. They had made sure the corridor was completely empty first.

Inside the cramped bathroom, they pinned Hailey between them and peeled off her clothes. Hailey stared up at Helena with pure gratitude and adoration, softly sticking out her tongue like an eager little pet.

Helena still wasn't used to this level of devotion. Jaspin opened one bottle and began pouring water over Hailey's body while Helena scrubbed, washing away every trace of blood and gore. There was no talking just silence and the sound of water. Jaspin refilled the bottles multiple times, pouring until the purple skin regained its glossy, light-reflecting shine.

They returned to the cabin in silence. Rita materialized and said,

"I think she teleported straight into someone's body."

Helena shook her head wordlessly. They sat back down in their places. Jaspin stared out the window, twirling a lock of her hair, while Helena looked like she was drowning in guilt.

The train reached the halfway point.

One of the passengers opened the carriage door. The air was thick with the scent of lavender, and the floor was covered in puddles of water dotted with thick white clumps of semen floating on the surface.

Outside, Jaspin walked ahead. Helena followed with her eyes blindfolded, relying on her sixth sense to move. Hailey floated behind them completely naked, while Rita had purged every last drop of cum from her ghostly body, storing the creatures' energy, and vanished again.

Even with her radar-like sense still weak, Helena could detect large objects within five meters.

They sat down to wait for the next train while Hailey playfully circled them. This station in the town of Tortilla was cleaner than theirs, but much smaller. Half an hour of silence and safe distance passed before the upper half of Rita's body appeared.

"Why are you two so quiet?"

The silence stretched until Helena answered,

"What do you want us to talk about, exactly?"

"Where's your usual curiosity? Helena used to ask about the dumbest things… What's wrong? Aren't you going to ask why the trees walk?!"

"I've gotten a little used to the weirdness. No need to ask anymore."

"And you, Jaspin? Aren't you going to drop the formal act and tell us the next steps of the mission?"

Jaspin stayed quiet for a long time. She glanced at Hyle, who was playing with a creature that looked like a mix between a fox (long ears and muzzle) and a cat (white fluffy body). Jaspin let out a huge sigh and said,

"We need to get rid of her....

[She looked at Helena.]

…Any ideas?"

Helena brightened at Jaspin's attempt to reconnect and replied,

"Like Rita said, her sensory aura is strong. She'll feel us running or chasing her even with instant teleportation. Hmm… Can we restrain her?"

Rita answered,

"She doesn't wear clothes; she instantly transitions into them. Nothing limits her teleportation not restraints, not imprisonment. That's why this species can't be enslaved. She can float at her body's height and move at sixty kilometers per hour while floating."

Helena extended her razor-sharp nail from her index finger and said coldly,

"Then we kill her. That's the only solution I see."

Jaspin frowned.

"I don't like violence. And where would you even kill her? In the middle of the station? She's a dumb animal. Let's trick her the train's about to enter the station."

Helena pretended to head to the bathroom. Hailey followed. The moment the door closed, Helena climbed out the window. Hyle sensed it instantly and appeared outside.

Helena entered the town. It was a rural settlement with distinctive cylindrical houses. The locals had their own unique accent. She bought some food for herself and Hailey, eating in front of her to stall and lower the girl's guard. When she felt the moment was right and saw Hailey distracted by giant four-legged moth-like birds, Helena slipped behind her. She turned a corner, walked a little slower to avoid drawing attention, then stopped and removed her blindfold.

"She probably didn't notice."

Helena took off at full speed, glancing back every few seconds.

Hailey never appeared. Helena pushed harder, running with everything she had despite the burning fatigue, people scattering out of her way. It felt like a marathon until she finally saw the train station ahead.

But at the very last few meters of that kilometer, Hailey teleported right beside her with effortless ease.

Helena's anger flared. She started punching the air and everything around her while Hailey simply watched with soft, feminine, adoring eyes.

She returned to Jaspin defeated and said,

"I tried… We can't beat her unless we can fly really high."

Helena stopped mid-sentence as if an idea struck her. She looked toward Rita and Jaspin. Rita said,

"I can lift one person."

"That's exactly what we need."

They no longer cared what people thought about ghosts. Rita appeared in her slightly translucent full body right in public. The locals stared in surprise, but no one dared interfere. Rita and Jaspin quickly agreed on a meeting point. Rita transformed her legs into thick roots that wrapped around Helena's arms, and they began to rise.

At first Hailey just watched them float away. She followed their shadow on the ground while Rita slowly gained altitude. Helena muttered,

"I think we're going to fail… but we're getting close. We just need a distraction."

"I'm only following your orders."

They landed again. Hailey already knew exactly where they would touch down and was standing beside Jaspin.

"Hi. Looks like you failed. The train's here."

The train was approaching fast until Jaspin suddenly shoved Hailey straight toward it.

Hailey simply teleported away and reappeared beside Jaspin without even trying to retaliate.

Helena saw a thick blood vessel bulge on the side of Jaspin's forehead. She was furious. Jaspin took a deep breath, calmed herself as usual, and said,

"Simple. We just report her to the police station. They'll figure out how to contain her."

"That's a headache we don't need. I want to finish this mission and go home."

Jaspin refused to risk another disaster. She bought second-class tickets and of course one for Helena right after.

The crowd was thick at the second-class entrances until suddenly

*BOOM!*

Hailey the Enderwoman teleported straight into the middle of the crowd, injuring dozens of people badly and possibly killing at least one, instantly causing total chaos.

People scattered in panic, even Helena and Jaspin.

Hailey lost track of them and began teleporting randomly, searching, hurting more people with every jump.

"We caused a disaster."

"She saw her clinging to you, you pervert. I hope they don't come after us."

The obvious conclusion: the express train was going to be delayed.

They entered the town looking for a caravan, a carriage, or at least a guide because they were literally lost.

The walk dragged on until they noticed a flow of locals carrying goods. They followed the stream. More and more merchants appeared, and the area opened up. It was a market.

They wandered among the stalls vegetables, fruits, farming tools, weapons.

"Ramirez, look over there."

"Yeah, I see her. It's a fertility goddess. This is our chance."

Helena noticed the two men staring at her. When their eyes met, the one called Ramirez raised his hand and stepped forward, offering a handshake to both Helena and Jaspin.

"Hello, ladies. I'm Ramirez and this is Casper. What's your name?"

Helena glanced at Jaspin, who gave a small nod.

"My name is Helena."

"Helena… Beautiful name. It reminds me of Helena Blavatsky."

Jaspin cut in,

"Are you from Earth?"

Ramirez smiled in pleasant surprise.

"Are you two Earthlings too?"

"Yes."

"Wow… Looks like we have a lot in common. That's perfect, because we have an offer for you, Helena. How would you like to work with us? We have a project that will earn you millions."
