Chapter 87: Small Success

At the same time, Ronin was familiarizing himself with his Mangekyou Sharingan.

The right eye's Amaterasu existed in the manga, but the ability of his left eye was somewhat unexpected.

His left eye's ability was: Ama-no-Tokotachi!

The ability solidified a specific space within his field of vision. In other words, when Ronin activated the ability and looked at a space, everything within it would be imprisoned and frozen in time! The duration was unknown, and the cost was variable.

During the previous operation, he had used Ama-no-Tokotachi to briefly control Isrli. However, since it was his first time using it, he had likely cast the suppression field over too large an area. Reflecting on it now, the drain on his energy intensified sharply the moment Silva's fists made contact with the frozen space. This meant that merely imprisoning a target didn't consume much energy, but when an external force attacked the frozen space, the consumption spiked.

In short, the left eye's Ama-no-Tokotachi was clearly a space-time Ninjutsu.

If Ronin remembered correctly, Ama-no-Tokotachi-no-Kami was one of the Kotoamatsukami. As a deity representing order and stability, Ama-no-Tokotachi-no-Kami strongly supported Amaterasu-no-Omikami and did not wish for anyone to use his power to subvert Amaterasu's rule, even placing constraints upon himself. In that sense, pairing Ama-no-Tokotachi with Amaterasu was fitting.

While the left eye's ability was good, it still fell short of Ronin's expectations. Compared to Amaterasu and Ama-no-Tokotachi, Ronin would have preferred Obito Uchiha's Kamui. That ability to phase through objects and teleport was truly enviable.

But obtaining one Mangekyou ability from the manga and one original ability wasn't bad. As for the future, he would just have to continue fusing Scarlet Eyes. Who knew? There might be pleasant surprises waiting. Ronin was full of anticipation.

On September 5th, a major event occurred. The copies of the Greed Island game auctioned in Southern Piece were hijacked during transport. The cargo was lost, and all transport personnel were killed.

"This looks like the work of the Phantom Troupe," Kurapika said, maintaining his Ren as he scrolled through various intelligence reports on the computer.

With Ronin's Shadow Clone present, no one could find a flaw in Raymond's identity as a Ten Don. In fact, after Kurapika used Raymond's identity to consolidate the gang's resources, the duo had gained an even firmer foothold within this major mafia family. However, Kurapika was slowly purging the industries he refused to touch, such as drugs and human trafficking. They kept the casinos and similar operations—if they dropped everything, they wouldn't be a mafia anymore.

Watching Kurapika's choices, Ronin was reminded of a certain boy with a "Golden Spirit." Though that boy hadn't become a boss as quickly as Kurapika had.

"Uvogin is dead, so why are they going to Greed Island?" Ronin was surprised, but his mind quickly cycled through the various items existing within the game.

Slowly, he thought of a possibility. If the Phantom Troupe cleared Greed Island, would they, like Gon in the manga, be able to bring spell cards out of the game? But even bringing them out would be useless. As long as Ronin didn't enter the game and leave his ID data, the Troupe couldn't use a spell card like Accompany to find him in the real world. Gon could use the spell to reach Kite because Kite had explicitly stated in the manga that Ging had taken him into Greed Island before.

But then, Ronin thought of Bonolenov. When he unleashed Amaterasu earlier, the flames had burned Bonolenov. Could it be that the Amaterasu flames had caused severe injuries, requiring them to seek a cure inside Greed Island?

He had automatically assumed the flames had done their job based on Amaterasu's track record in Naruto, but Amaterasu wasn't weak. In fact, it was very strong.

Ronin put down his manga. "If the Troupe is choosing to enter Greed Island now, does that mean they've temporarily given up on hunting us?"

"Yes, that is possible," Kurapika agreed, sweat dripping steadily onto the floor.

Maintaining Ren was no easy task, but it was an extremely fast method to increase strength. According to Ronin, Kurapika needed to maintain Ren for over three hours to be considered qualified. Using Milia's calculation method for Nen, this meant Kurapika needed to raise his aura capacity to about 11,000 points. Currently, Kurapika could only maintain Ren for about fifty minutes, meaning his aura capacity was only around 3,000 points. And this was with his Nen ability accelerating his recovery to save training time.

But Big Brother Ronin...

According to Ronin himself, his aura capacity was approaching 50,000. After killing Omokage and obtaining two pairs of Scarlet Eyes, his aura had reached 20,000. The subsequent three months of training had improved it further, especially after Kurapika developed the Recovery Chain on his thumb, which accelerated the process. Even so, three months of rapid improvement only brought Ronin an increase equivalent to fusing one pair of Scarlet Eyes.

By September 1st, Ronin's aura had reached about 25,000. Then, acquiring four consecutive pairs of Scarlet Eyes caused a massive explosion in his power. In just five days, he skyrocketed from 25,000 to 45,000.

Now, Ronin wasn't training to increase his aura capacity; he was working to master this massive amount of energy. The three months of prior training had given Ronin perfect control over his aura, but this sudden surge had made his control rough around the edges again. To perfectly master all his aura and increase his output—the Ren he could unleash in a moment—he needed continuous, diligent training. Otherwise, he would be like when he borrowed Nen from Milia: the massive capacity would only increase his stamina, not his attack ceiling.

Of course, that was without using Ninjutsu.

Using Ninjutsu was a different story. If he fought Uvogin one-on-one now... Ronin was certain that even if Uvogin tried to tunnel underground, a single Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame would incinerate him into charcoal. Previously, his Majestic Destroyer Flame could only cover a Heaven's Arena ring. Now? He was confident that a single blast would fill the entire arena, leaving no survivors in the ring or the stands. That, in Ronin's view, was what Majestic Destroyer Flame should look like. But, he still needed to practice.
