Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Fortune Favors the Bold

The attraction was visceral. Every cell in his body screamed at him to take those eyes.

It felt like an instinct—a biological imperative telling him that those eyes were the key to evolving his Sharingan.

Ronin recalled how the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan was formed by transplanting eyes, and how the Tenseigan required combining Byakugan with Otsutsuki chakra.

If I get those Scarlet Eyes, my Sharingan will evolve.

He was sure of it. Maybe not straight to Eternal Mangekyou, but perhaps to two or three Tomoe.

But how could he steal them from Uvogin?

His first attack had exposed his cards. The Headhunter Jutsu, the Clone, and the Body Replacement. None of them could breach Uvogin's defense.

Worse, Uvogin was an Enhancer. His gut instincts were razor-sharp.

Should he run? or risk everything for power?

The forest was silent, save for Uvogin's vulgar taunts and the patter of rain.

Ronin was soaked to the bone. Maintaining the Sharingan and the Mist was draining him fast.

Eight minutes had passed since he went underground.

Time is running out.

In the clearing, Uvogin dropped the head and stepped on it like a soccer ball.

Ronin's figure emerged from the mist.

In the darkness, Uvogin saw the glow of red eyes.

"Finally," Uvogin sneered.

Feitan had bet him he couldn't get the "perfect color." Uvogin stomped down hard.

SPLAT.

The head exploded into a gory mess.

In that instant, Ronin moved.

A blade pierced Uvogin's chest without warning.

Uvogin looked down in disbelief, meeting Ronin's hate-filled, single-tomoe eyes.

Impossible.

Uvogin knew Ronin couldn't pierce his skin, even with a Conjured blade. The gap in their aura was like a firefly comparing itself to the moon.

As soon as the thought crossed his mind, reality warped. The blade in his chest vanished. The Ronin in front of him dissolved.

It was an illusion. A Genjutsu.

Uvogin shook his head, clearing the mental fog. He noticed his Nen flow was slightly disrupted, specifically around his head.

The mist was thicker now, visibility reduced to half a meter.

This mist... it's interfering with my senses.

Uvogin realized the boy's ability was weird. Not quite Conjuration, not quite Manipulation. A Specialist?

A newborn Specialist giving me trouble? If he grows up, he'll be a threat.

Uvogin's aura flared violently. "Enough tricks!"

He raised his fist, preparing a Big Bang Impact to blow the mist away.

But before he could punch, he felt a lightness at his waist.

The jar. The Scarlet Eyes. It was gone.

He didn't run? He stayed to steal from me?!

Uvogin's eyes flashed with fury. Instead of punching forward, he swung a massive backhand to his side.

BOOM!

The shockwave blew the mist away instantly.

There, stumbling in the cleared air, was Ronin, clutching the jar of eyes.

"Found you, you little rat!"

Uvogin launched himself at the boy.

In a blink, he was behind Ronin. He swung his fist with enough force to shatter a boulder.

The punch passed straight through Ronin's body.

POOF!

White smoke.

Another clone.

"DAMMIT!"

Uvogin roared, his face flushing red with heat and rage. He punched the ground in frustration.

CRASH!

The earth shattered, trees toppled, but Ronin was nowhere to be seen.
