Chapter 8 -  Seele Remains Unaffected

A massive scythe appeared in Seele's hands. Seeing this, Gojo Satoru raised one hand and pointed it toward the two of them.

"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue."

A tremendous pulling force erupted across the rooftop. Even the guardrails around the edge began to shake violently before being ripped free, drawn together by cursed energy and hurled straight at Seele.

Slash!

Seele swung her scythe, shredding the gathered mass into fragments. Then, with a light tap of her foot, she vanished—only to reappear behind Gojo without warning.

The scythe danced. In the span of a heartbeat, Seele launched dozens of attacks. Yet every strike felt as though it were stopped by an invisible membrane, never truly reaching Gojo's body.

"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red."

With his index and middle fingers aligned, crimson cursed energy—completely opposite to Blue—detonated in front of Seele. The overwhelming repulsive force surged across the rooftop, attempting to blow her away.

But as the cursed energy washed over the area, Seele was nowhere to be seen.

Using Quantumization, Seele had already returned to An Xora's side the moment Gojo counterattacked.

"A technique that allows instantaneous movement, huh? Even Blue's attraction and Red's repulsion can't lock onto you. That's an impressive technique."

Watching the girl reappear, Gojo spoke with genuine admiration.

This time, however, the usually polite Seele did not respond.

She wasn't surprised in the least that her attacks had failed. After all, Seele knew Gojo's abilities just as well.

The Limitless—a cursed technique that brings the concept behind Zeno's paradox into reality, also known as relative stasis.

The closer an object gets to Gojo Satoru, the more its velocity approaches zero. In other words, no attack can ever truly reach him.

From a physics standpoint, it was nearly invincible. And with the Six Eyes drastically reducing cursed energy consumption, Gojo could maintain the Limitless as a constant passive barrier, active twenty-four hours a day.

That said, there were ways to break it. In the original story, Ryomen Sukuna's spatial slash could bypass the Limitless entirely, ignoring its defensive mechanism and directly striking Gojo.

And Seele could do something similar.

She vanished once more. This time, instead of attacking from behind, she appeared directly in front of Gojo—her scythe already pressed against his body.

Splurt!

In that instant, Gojo's eyes widened in shock as his instincts screamed danger. He reflexively used Blue's attraction to retreat at once.

Even so, a massive gash was carved across his chest. Blood gushed out like a stream, soaking his clothes crimson in mere seconds.

Suspended in midair by his technique, Gojo stared at Seele in disbelief.

I'm… injured?

Gojo Satoru couldn't remember the last time he'd felt something like this. Or rather—he couldn't remember the last time he'd bled.

This wasn't interference from a special cursed tool.

This was his defense being directly breached by a cursed technique.

For the first time in a long while, a familiar yet alien sensation welled up within him—a long-forgotten sense of danger, the thrill of true risk.

Using Reverse Cursed Technique, Gojo healed the wound on his chest. And in that moment, he felt something unexpected.

Enjoyment.

He realized he was starting to get excited.

His previous plans? They no longer mattered. Though he still wanted to recruit the two of them—or rather, the girl before him—into the jujutsu world…

Right now, all Gojo wanted was a good, proper fight.

On the rooftop, sensing Gojo's shift in intent, Seele likewise steadied her mind.

"The next phase of this battle may affect a wide area. Big Brother An Xora, please move to a safe location first."

"Alright."

Grabbing An Xora's hand, Seele instantly transported him to the outskirts of the construction site. Then, in the same way, she returned to the rooftop.

Gojo made no move to stop her. Or perhaps—he couldn't. And in any case, he had no intention of interfering.

Landing back on the rooftop from midair, Gojo looked at Seele with curiosity.

"Mind telling me how you broke through my technique just now? Was it your cursed technique?"

"It was my technique—Quantumization."

Seele answered calmly.

It was precisely because of Quantumization that she had been able to injure Gojo despite the Limitless.

Just as Sukuna's spatial slash could ignore the Limitless' protection, Quantumization allowed Seele to partially bypass the laws of physics themselves.

For example, instantaneous movement. In essence, this was achieved by entering a state of quantum entanglement—ignoring the constraints of time and space, and traversing between two points using real-world coordinates within the quantum domain. To outsiders, it appeared as simple teleportation.

Likewise, Seele could imbue her attacks with the same property. In gaming terms, it was true damage—ignoring physical defenses entirely.

Furthermore, while in a quantumized state, Seele could partially ignore physical collisions. Even without teleporting, she could pass through obstacles or negate incoming attacks.

In short, Quantumization was an extremely comprehensive ability, encompassing offense, defense, and mobility.

There was a reason it cost a whopping 8,000 points at full price in the system shop—only 2,000 less than the Authority of the Herrscher of Life and Death, which was priced at 10,000.

Naturally, once Seele applied Quantumization's properties to her attacks, the so-called Limitless became nothing more than window dressing.

"I won't be holding back anymore."

Seele's voice was calm, resolute.

"If that's the case, then I should be the one saying that."

Floating in midair, Gojo's lips curled into a wildly confident grin.

"In this fight—you're the challenger!"

"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue!"

BOOM!!!

With fingers spread wide, Gojo swung his right hand downward. An attraction force at least a hundred times stronger than before slammed into the rooftop.

The entire building caved in and collapsed. Steel beams and rubble were swept up by the massive cursed energy, forming several meteor-like projectiles that rained down upon Seele.

Yet despite the overwhelming spectacle, not a single attack touched her.

Seele's petite figure slipped through the falling debris like a ghost, reappearing instantly above Gojo.

"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red!"

Crimson cursed energy exploded outward. Like a scene straight out of another anime's Shinra Tensei, the blast carved out a circular clearing nearly a hundred meters wide at the center of what was now a ruined construction site.

And yet—just like the falling meteors before it—

Red passed straight through Seele's body, failing to affect her in the slightest.
