Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: When The Familiar Turned Against The Master (Part 2)

Chapter 30: When The Familiar Turned Against The Master (Part 2)

Professor Dylan was facing the enraged and bloodthirsty Red-eye Gecko, while some of the other students were helping Fate.

Fate was severely injured, but he was being treated by Lisa, Chloe, and Chloe's familiar — Snow.

Fate was slowly recovering and regaining consciousness.

The arena was in complete chaos.

Destruction spread left and right across the field.

By the time Fate woke up, he tried to stand up, and the students — especially Kyle and Isabelle — quickly helped him to his feet.

Fate looked around in confusion.

"What happened...?"

Kyle answered him immediately.

"You were knocked back and slammed into the wall of the Arena's sits by the Red-eye Gecko's tail sweep."

Fate's eyes widened slightly.

He turned his head toward the center of the arena and saw Professor Dylan fighting the berserk Red-eye Gecko.

On the arena floor, Professor Dylan was trying to suppress the enraged beast.

He dodged.

Blocked.

Counterattacked.

But he wasn't fighting properly — even with the aid of his Wood Golem.

It was as if he was only buying time.

Only keeping the Red-eye Gecko occupied.

While fighting, Professor Dylan had a thought.

(The students were already at a safe zone… now all I have to do is buy time for them.)

Then—

At the most unexpected moment—

Professor Dylan was caught off guard.

The Red-eye Gecko's tail slammed into his left rib.

A heavy, brutal impact.

(This strength…!)

He quickly checked his left rib while retreating.

(Even though I'm in the Domain Stat of Yellow… the attack earlier… I'm sure of it. This monster is in the Domain Stat of Red.)

The Red-eye Gecko lunged again.

It was about to strike—

Suddenly—

Five figures jumped down into the arena.

The figures were like performers.

And the students were the audience watching a grand performance unfold.

They landed between Professor Dylan and the Red-eye Gecko.

The moment they appeared, a heavy pressure filled the air.

Fate, Kyle, Lisa, Chloe, Isabelle, and the other students felt a powerful wave of mana spread throughout the arena.

There were three men and two girls.

One of the three men rushed forward immediately and blocked the Red-eye Gecko's incoming attack.

He had golden eyes, a slim body, red hair, and a single crimson horn protruding from the right side of his head.

Professor Dylan let out a relieved sigh.

"You're just in time… Student Council Vice President Darius Vermillion."

Darius did not look back.

"You can relax now, Professor. We will handle this."

He grabbed the Red-eye Gecko and threw it back with overwhelming force.

Then he shouted.

"I order all of you to commence the submission of the enraged Red-eye Gecko — Student Council!"

The other four members immediately moved.

The green-haired girl used her skill Suppressing Overgrown Vines.

Suppressing Overgrown Vines

Rarity: rare

– allows the user to fully control and grow vines that are within their area.

– it consumes mana constantly for the skill to be used.

Thick vines burst from the arena floor, coiling around the Red-eye Gecko's limbs and body.

From the Arena's sits, Fate and the others watched in stunned silence.

Fate asked quietly,

"Who are those guys?"

Isabelle answered, pointing at each of them.

"Those are the Student Council Members."

"The red-haired man right there is the Vice President. His name is Darius Vermilion."

"The green-haired woman is the Secretary. Her name is Natalie Wrenford."

"The big guy with brown hair is the Public Morals Committee Chair. His name is Brian Dankworth."

"The black-eyed man and the short woman are Liam Villan and Cassie Miracle. They are helpers and part of the Student Council."

Fate stared at them.

"I see… Student Council, huh..."

Back in the arena—

Brian Dankworth grabbed the Red-eye Gecko by the head and forced it down.

Natalie, Liam, and Cassie reinforced the bindings with their own skills.

The Red-eye Gecko struggled violently.

But it could no longer move.

Darius began walking toward it.

As he walked—

Flames began to surround his body.

Fate's eyes widened.

The flames completely engulfed Darius.

Then—

He stepped out of the fire.

Transformed.

A second crimson dragon horn grew from the right side of his head.

Red scales covered parts of his body.

His golden eyes turned fully draconic.

A long crimson tail extended behind him.

On the Arena's sits, Fate was watching Darius transform.

Fate's eyes glimmered with admiration.

Darius spoke with a commanding voice.

"All of you, let go of the beast."

The Student Council members obeyed instantly.

They released the Red-eye Gecko.

The moment it was freed—

It rushed at Darius in pure rage.

But Darius remained calm.

He took a combat stance.

His right side shifted slightly backward.

The Red-eye Gecko closed the distance—

And Darius moved.

He rushed forward.

His fist drove into the monster's stomach.

The Red-eye Gecko let out a painful scream.

Then Darius used his skill Explosive Strike

Explosive Strike

Rarity: uncommon

– when the user strike, mana gathers and when it made contact into something the mana that were gathered was released, causing an explosion depending on the power.

Mana gathered into his fist.

The moment it connected—

An explosion erupted.

The Red-eye Gecko was killed instantly.

Its body began to disintegrate into light particles.

Silence fell over the arena.

The Red-eye Gecko was dealt with.

After some time, classes were suspended following the incident.

Valhalla Academy began investigating how Jake had obtained the mysterious item.

At the dormitory.

More specifically — Fate's dorm.

Fate was lying on his bed, still recovering from his injuries, even though he had been healed by Lisa, Chloe, and Snow.

The infirmary nurse had advised him to rest for the day.

Earlier, after the incident, Fate had been brought to the infirmary.

"Even though you were given treatment, it's best for you to rest," the nurse had said.

Back to the present.

Fate lay on his bed, parts of his body still wrapped in bandages.

He stared at the ceiling.

Soo-ah floated above him, slowly swirling in the air.

Fate was lost in thought as he recalled how easily he had been defeated.

(I thought I had gotten stronger… but it looks like it's just from my own perspective…)

He clenched his jaw.

(I was completely useless…)

KNOCK! KNOCK!

The knocking was loud.

Almost childish.

"Come in!" Fate shouted.

The door opened.

Three figures entered.

A woman with long silver-white hair and dazzling sky-blue eyes.

A small child with short white hair identical to hers.

And a man with black hair wearing glasses.

Fate's eyes widened.

"Huh? Wha–what are you all doing in here?"

Fate saw was non-other than his family.

Elizabeth Kindspring, holding her fan over her mouth.

Emily Kindspring, teary-eyed, rushed toward Fate.

Isaac stood behind them calmly.

Emily leapt onto the bed and clung to him tightly.

Elizabeth answered Fate's question.

"We're here because the Academy informed us about what happened."

Fate slowly sat up so they could talk properly.

"I see…"

He gently petted Emily's head as she stayed on his lap.

Then Fate asked.

"Mother, where is Father? It seems he didn't come with you three."

Isaac answered.

"Young master, your father is currently handling some business regarding the mysterious crimson crystal that had gotten into the hands of a student."

Fate fell silent.

He remembered everything.

The crimson crystal.

The horrific and unforgettable incident.

They talked for a while longer.

Eventually, it was time for Elizabeth, Emily, and Isaac to return home.

Emily refused to leave.

She clung tightly to Fate, throwing a tantrum.

But in the end, Elizabeth managed to take her back.

The dorm room became quiet again.

Fate lay back down.

Exhausted.

But his eyes were still open.

He summoned his Status Window.
