Chapter 1 - The Day That Refused to End

When Kael Ardin opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed was the sky.

It was purple.

Not sunset purple wrong purple. Too deep. Too still.

Okay Kael muttered. "Either I'm dreaming, or I finally lost it."

The last thing he remembered was walking home from school, headphones on, mind empty. No truck. No blinding light. Just a step forward and then here.

He stood in the middle of a stone plaza, surrounded by medieval buildings, glowing lanterns, and people dressed like they had walked straight out of a fantasy game.

And none of them noticed him.

Kael waved a hand in front of a passing merchant.

Nothing.

"Great. I'm invisible too.

That's when a voice echoed in his head.

[Checkpoint Established.]

[Current Time: Day 1 16:42]

Kael staggered back.

What the hell was that.

The world suddenly snapped into focus. People gasped. Sounds rushed in. The merchant bumped into him and cursed.

He was real now.

Before Kael could process it, screaming erupted from the far end of the plaza.

A massive shadow crawled across the ground.

Something was coming.
