Chapter 7 - Chapter 4: Anomaly

"What— is this?"

He could barely speak. To Arata, everything appeared frozen, just like his heart in that moment. The beast stood before Hina, its arms stretched to reach her, jaws open. A group of people spectated from the streets, some shut their eyes in fear while others watched with theirs wide open.

He turned, scanning the crowds when his sight fell over the police officer pointing a gun towards the creature.

"The police—defenders of the state huh". He said, smiling maniacally.

"All I see is a bunch of humans, POOR, POWERLESS humans! and there's nothing they can do. Nothing but point guns and give orders."

From his side, a slight image of his friend could be seen, pathetically curled and constricted in a corner of the balcony, covering her face with her arms trying to avoid the beast. His throat filled up and he felt like crying bitterly, for he saw everything yet could not get his body to move and act. He was simply too weak, too powerless, at the mercy of fate.

Yet, even fate seemed to mock him, the way time had stopped him, reminding him of his helpless position, and just how small he was before the cosmos. He was torn between the storm which consumed his being from the inside as he began to question his sanity.

On one end he prayed, "Hina, please just make it, this will all be over soon, please don't leave me here", yet one part of him just accepted his reality.

"Maybe, it just wasn't meant for me, this bond, these friendships.."

(I should probably let go—)

He was beginning to lose hope, when a voice reached his ears, piercing through the silence.

"Giving up already? and I thought you were Mr. Positive, how truly pathetic!"

He had never heard this voice before, and even in its mocking tone, it gave a warm, soothing presence that calmed him instantly.

Arata turned, desperate to see this person who accompanied him in his loneliness.

A man of tall stature was seated comfortably on the roof of a car which stood behind him.

"Who—?"

The massive bright, yellow aura was only visible for a second before it vanished. The white and golden robes gave a divine calm, his face was clear, and his hair was as red as a crimson blossom. His deep red eyes with a hint of black & blue shone like embers through the long hair scattered over his face and looked as if they saw through everything. A bold yet carefree smile adorned his face which rested over his hand.

(If divinity had a face) he thought,

"but, who are—you? and what is happening?"

The man tilted his head to one side, looking curious, "I believe, you are neither at the right place, nor the correct time for introductions", he remarked, moving his eyes to the rooftop.

Arata was suddenly reminded of his position.

"Shit! I need to think something, some way, I can save her". (But I lack the power to save her, I can't stay thinking like this forever.) He looked at the man, (Is he a god or wizard of some sort? Maybe he can save Hina, so I'll ask him.)

Author—This entire instance occurred inside Arata's head. Less than 1 second has passed since the incident on the rooftop, yet time appeared to have stopped, given a higher being had come to aid him in his moral dilemma.

"Are you sure? there is not much a kid like you can do in this situation."

"Look mister, I don't know who you are but, I will not allow you to influence my thoughts. The person up there means a lot to me".

He was conflicted, but now his thinking finally cleared. He looked at his reflection in the pool of water on the ground, and finally gave up his ego, as the worry for his companion drove him.

"Please, can you do something? Hina is my friend and I want to save her at ALL costs."

"Any costs?"

"All and any costs".

The man smirked upon hearing this,

"NOW, we're talking!" He said before teleporting right behind Arata.

He looked over his shoulder (HE'S FAST).

"Let's say, I can save your friend, but I'm very disappointed that you almost gave up on saving someone so important to you, boy"

"Then take it out on me later, but PLEASE just save her.."

"Well I don't blame you for being desperate, a mortal facing a hell crawler can be, umm traumatizing to say the least"

"A hell—WHAT",

"No time for that", he smirked, "now focus".

Arata looked straight at the beast, his mind, now ready to move on from this moment.

"Here we go"

Time was flowing again normally, but to the spectators, this happened instantly.

A bright beam of light completely covers his body and a strong shockwave pushes everything back as the people watch in awe.

The beast, interrupted, began to shriek. Maddened and aroused by this sudden eruption of light, it leaves the girl and jumps straight toward it

TSYUUU* (like KAPOW)

but is punched back, sending it crashing into the building. From the light, emerges the God Of Destruction in his divine attire.

He walks forward, taking small strides in his loose, white-hakama like legwear, and golden armor which carried not a single scratch, clearly reflecting the difference in power between HIM and his opponents.

The creature rose from the rubble, still affected by the blow.

"Oh how notorious of you to invade a school of all places as soon as you get here.",

The creature screeches, lifting a large piece of concrete and throws it at him. Kira smiles, and hurls the rock back with such force it sends the beast flying across 2 blocks, destroying several buildings.

"Oops"

He flies away after it.

Hina faints from the pressure around her, falling unconscious by the balcony. The people were stunned, overcome with a mutual feeling of fear and inferiority. The eerie atmosphere which threw everyone in suspicion had evolved into the unexpected battle ground before them. Among the crowd stood a young boy, his eyes on the man who shook the place with his extravagant presence.

"Who is that person?", he asked his grandfather, in a soft tone.

"that is no normal person", he whispered,

"then who?",

"An anomaly" .
