Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Work

When the police learned that Bai Mo had killed the strange man, they immediately surrounded him enthusiastically. Bai Mo was so nervous that his palms were sweating.

"Sir, please wait!" The lead officer stopped Bai Mo.

After confirming that Bai Mo had killed the monster, the police briefly registered his information. An officer handed him an envelope: "This is the standard reward from the Z City Police Department: 50,000 Sakura Coins. Due to the recent surge in monster attacks, we won't be holding a commendation ceremony."

Bai Mo clutched the envelope and hurried away from the scene, his heart pounding all the way. Only after returning to his apartment and locking the door did he finally breathe a sigh of relief, carefully taking the crumpled bread rolls out of his pocket and placing them on the kitchen counter.

"Phew... finally safe." He slumped onto his makeshift bed, finally able to examine the envelope in his hand. A gentle squeeze revealed the feel of the banknotes inside, making him burst out laughing: "Hahaha, now I've got my rent and food money covered!"

However, before the excitement could subside, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his back—the wound from when he was knocked away by the monster and crashed into the wall. Bai Mo's vision went black, and he collapsed onto the bed, losing consciousness.

Bai Mo woke up at dusk, the pain in his back making him gasp. He gritted his teeth and sat up: "System, how many points will it cost to heal my injury?"

[System notification: Injury detection in progress...]

[Minor internal injuries + multiple abrasions]

[Treatment cost: 5 points]

[Current Points: 500]

"Treat him immediately." As soon as Bai Mo finished speaking, a soft green light enveloped his entire body. He could clearly feel the ruptured capillaries repairing themselves and the bruising slowly dissolving.

After stretching his muscles, not only did the pain disappear, but the fatigue also lessened considerably. Bai Mo clenched his fist in surprise: "I'm actually in better shape than before I was injured..."

As dusk settled outside the window, he trudged towards the restroom. Thinking about his supermarket job tomorrow, he sighed, "I've never worked before... I guess I'll just have to take it one step at a time."

Bai Mo sat on the bed, muttering to himself, "Should I move to another city? But Z City has a lot of weirdos, and leveling up is fast... Never mind, leveling up is more important."

He opened the points shop and looked at it: "I currently have 495 points, which should be enough to buy quite a few weapons."

After some deliberation, Bai Mo decided, "I'll buy this Glock pistol for 300 points, and start with standard 9mm ammunition."

[Purchase Confirmed: Glock 17 Pistol]

[Points consumed: 300]

[Current remaining points: 195]

[Bonus: 15 standard 9mm Parabellum rounds (already loaded)]

Bai Mo, gripping his pistol, continued, "System, display the price of the bullets."

[Ammunition Price List]

[Standard ammunition]

[Single shot: 2 points]

[15-round magazine: 25 points (5 points discount)]

[Special Ammunition]

[Hollow-point bullet: 3 points/shot]

[Armor-piercing rounds: 4 points/round]

[High-speed bullet: 3 points/shot]

Bai Mo, holding the pistol, suddenly exclaimed, "Holy crap, this is a real gun!" He quickly checked the safety and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that it was locked.

"Never mind, I'll go to sleep first. I have to work tomorrow..." Just as he was about to put the gun down beside his pillow, he suddenly remembered, "Right, the system should have storage space, right?"

[System: Storage space activated]

[Current capacity: 1 cubic meter]

"How do I use it?" Bai Mo asked, puzzled.

[System: Mind Control]

[Storage method: Silently say "store" or imagine the item taking out]

"That's so simple?" Bai Mo tried it with some skepticism. The pistol vanished from his hand instantly, only to reappear as he imagined it. "That's amazing..."

After confirming several times, Bai Mo finally felt relieved and put the pistol into his system space, ate the bread he had taken from the convenience store, and then fell into a deep sleep.

The morning sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the balcony, and Bai Mo sprang to his feet as if by reflex—his biological clock, developed in high school, was still stubbornly in effect.

"Oh my god..." He rubbed his eyes, only then realizing he had transmigrated. Reaching for his hair, he suddenly froze: "I forgot to shower after fighting the monster last night!" But glancing at the time, he could only sigh: "Oh well, I'll shower when I get home from get off work."

He quickly splashed cold water on his face, grabbed the bread he'd "stolen" last night, took a bite, and immediately frowned: "Tsk, it looks pretty good, why is it so salty..."

Walking towards the supermarket, Bai Mo looked around at Z City three years ago—the streets were clean, the pedestrians were normal, and there was no sign that it would become a ghost town in the future. He deliberately looked around when passing the park, but did not see Saitama.

As Bai Mo changed into the apron with the supermarket logo, she stared blankly at the mirror in the changing room. The image in the mirror overlapped with that of a high school student preparing for the college entrance exam in her past life.

"Cheer up!" He patted his cheeks, walked to the cashier, and began his first job in this other world.

And so, Bai Mo started working at the cashier at 6 a.m. Since the morning customer traffic in Z City wasn't high, his job was relatively easy.

At exactly 10 o'clock, the boss came over and patted him on the shoulder: "Bai Mojun, you can go home now."

Bai Mo was taken aback for a moment: "Huh? It's only 10 o'clock..."

The owner smiled and explained, "I forgot to tell you, our supermarket's morning shift is from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m."

"Oh, I see..." Bai Mo suddenly realized, remembering that this was indeed a short-term work arrangement. "Thank you, boss. I'll be going now."

While changing back into casual clothes in the locker room, Bai Mo couldn't help but sigh, "I earned 3200 Sakura Coins in just four hours, much easier than I imagined." Stepping out of the supermarket, the morning sun was shining brightly, and he began to plan how to make the most of the afternoon.

Bai Mo rubbed his rumbling stomach, hesitated for a moment at the supermarket entrance, and said, "The supermarket should have discounted vegetables... but even if I buy them, I don't know how to cook."

Thinking of his empty refrigerator and cramped rented room, he shook his head helplessly: "Forget it, I'll just go to the convenience store."

Bai Mo first went to a nearby place where he could exchange large bills for smaller denominations. Then he stored them in his system space.

As Bai Mo passed by the park, he saw Qi Yu doing push-ups, his vest soaked with sweat. He thought for a moment and walked over to the vending machine next to him.

[Ding-dong] A coin is inserted. Bai Mo chooses a sports drink and waits quietly until Saitama finishes his training.

"Here you go," Bai Mo handed over the cool Pocari Sweat, "Thanks for pointing me in the right direction yesterday. Training must have been tough, right?"

Saitama wiped his sweat, readily accepted the bottle, and said, "Thanks!" He then tilted his head back and gulped down more than half of it.

Taking the opportunity, Bai Mo asked, "By the way, are there any stores nearby that sell cheap clothes?"

"Walk straight along the shopping street," Saitama pointed southeast, "there's a 'Yamato-ya' shop where T-shirts are only 990 yen during the sale season."

After saying goodbye, Bai Mo first bought a bowl of Nissin cup noodles at a convenience store to fill his stomach, and then followed the directions to the clothing store.

Suddenly, a piercing scream tore through the sky: "A monster! Aaaaaah!"

Bai Mo was startled at first, then clenched his fist excitedly: "Finally, I have a chance to try out the new weapon!" He immediately ran towards the source of the sound.

Turning the corner, a werewolf monster over two meters tall was vandalizing a vending machine.

Bai Mo quickly took cover and whispered, "System, analyze the target's strength!"
