[Host: Kael Vane]

[Age: 18]

[Race: Human]

[Magic Power: ★]

[Magic: Take Over: Anime Soul]

[Character Card: Ulquiorra Cifer...]

Kael Vane stared excitedly at Ulquiorra's character card resting quietly on the system panel.

Kael Vane had originally been a high school graduate on Earth. Half a month ago, an accident caused him to cross over into the world of Fairy Tail, and he awakened a gacha system.

That's right. The system he had just used.

The system could draw characters who had already died in anime. After Kael Vane "Took Over" them, he could use their powers to fight.

It was just like playing Genshin Impact.

However, the system required the Host to bind to a guild. After binding, besides a fixed monthly chance to pull, he could also get chances to pull by completing guild missions.

Since he had come to Fairy Tail, he naturally had to bind to the Fairy Tail guild. He was more familiar with it and liked the atmosphere here.

Furthermore, Fairy Tail was the strongest guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. By binding here, he would have access to more missions.

Kael Vane walked over to the request board and looked at the various jobs.

The requests on the first-floor board weren't clearly graded, but the system panel showed their ranks.

Rewards of 1,000,000 J or more were marked as A-Rank missions. Completing one A-Rank mission would reward one chance to pull.

Rewards between 500,000 J and 1,000,000 J were marked as B-Rank. Completing two B-Rank missions would reward one chance to pull.

Rewards between 100,000 J and 500,000 J were marked as C-Rank. Completing ten C-Rank missions would reward one chance to pull.

Rewards below 100,000 J weren't marked by the system at all.

This meant that if he wanted chances to pull, he had to complete jobs worth 100,000 J or more.

Kael Vane first looked at the missions between 100,000 and 500,000 J.

Defeat the Snow Mountain monster, Vulcan. Exterminate bandits. Slay the forest monster...

In the world of Fairy Tail, 100,000 J was a lot of money. A single mission offered a huge reward.

But that was for mages.

Take the Vulcan mission. Twenty adult soldiers probably couldn't beat one Vulcan.

When you thought about it that way, the reward seemed cheap.

Kael Vane only glanced at this level of mission. It wasn't about the money. He needed to complete ten of these missions just to get one chance to pull.

A single mission, including travel, would take at least two or three days.

Ten missions, even if he didn't rest, would take at least a month. One chance to pull per month, plus the free one from the system, meant only twenty-four pulls a year.

That was far too few. According to the system, the pity rate for a gold character was 100 pulls. It would take him forever to get another gold.

No, he had to do harder missions. Harder missions also paid more. He was poor in his last life; he was determined to be a rich man in this one.

Soon, Kael Vane selected a mission. He took the request slip and walked toward Mirajane.

"Mira, I want to take this job."

Mirajane was surprised he had picked one so quickly. "Starting work already? You can get familiar with the guild first."

Kael Vane shook his head with a bitter smile. "No need. I'm so poor I can't even afford to eat. If I don't work, I'll starve."

He had been in this world for half a month, and it had not been easy. He had no money and had to sleep in the wilderness.

On the way to Fairy Tail, he even ran into bandits. If the system hadn't given him one free pull, where he pulled a blue-rarity Chūnin, he might have died before he even started.

He had taken some money from the bandits, which was just enough to get him to Fairy Tail.

Now, he had almost nothing left. His desire for money was at its peak.

"Haha!"

Mirajane laughed when she heard this. Most mages in Fairy Tail were like that. They were lazy about working until the last minute, only remembering to get a job when they were truly broke.

"Let me see what job it is... Huh?!"

Mirajane was shocked when she read the details. "Wait, I can't approve this job myself. I need to ask the Master. Please wait a moment. The Master should be back soon."

"The Master?"

Kael Vane hadn't met Makarov when he joined.

As if on cue, a short old man wearing a yellow coat and a jester-like hat walked into the guild carrying a scroll.

"Master, you're back!"

Mirajane immediately went to greet him.

Makarov noticed Kael Vane standing next to Mirajane. "Hm? A new member?"

"Yes, sir. My name is Kael Vane. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Kael Vane bowed respectfully. He knew not to judge the old man by his short, sub-one-meter height. Inside that small body was world-destroying power.

Makarov's signature Giant magic could make him as big as an island. His Super Magic, Fairy Law, if used at full power, could defeat the Alvarez Empire's army of one million.

Furthermore, the old man treated the guild members like his own children. For all these reasons, Kael Vane respected him.

Makarov waved his hand. "Oh! Welcome!"

Then, "Hah!!"

Makarov let out a small yell, bent his knees, and jumped up onto the second-floor railing.

Everyone in the guild looked up.

Makarov held up the thick stack of papers in his hand, his face dark.

"You've all been causing trouble again, haven't you? Take a good look! Look how many complaints the Magic Council sent over!"

"First, Gray."

"Huh?" A boy wearing only his underwear looked up, confused. He hadn't caused any trouble.

Mirajane smiled and reminded him, "Gray, your clothes."

"Ah! I forgot again!" Gray scrambled to find his clothes.

"You had no problems capturing the bandits, but what were you doing walking around the street without clothes afterward? In the end, you stole underwear hanging on someone's balcony to escape!"

Gray looked embarrassed. "Well... it's not good to be naked..."

Elfman called out, "Then don't be naked!"

Makarov sighed and looked at Elfman. "Sigh! Elfman, you used violence against your own client?"

Elfman scratched his cheek, embarrassed. "He said I wasn't a real man!"

"Cana! You went to a client's place for a job, but you secretly drank their entire wine cellar empty. To hide it, you filled the barrels with water."

"...They found out?" Cana asked, looking guilty.

"Loke, you flirted with Councilman Michello's granddaughter."

Michello was on the Magic Council. Makarov had gotten an earful from him on his last visit.

"Next, Natsu."

"Exterminating a monster, you destroyed the road. Chasing a fugitive, you destroyed six houses. Guarding a caravan, you burned the caravan's cargo. Defeating bandits, you burned the victim's property along with them..."

As Makarov read Natsu's list of disasters, Kael Vane was truly shocked. He knew the guy caused trouble, but he never knew it was this bad.

"Alzack, Levy, Droy, Reedus, Bisca..."

"You people! You always get me scolded by the Council..."

Makarov tried to hold back his anger. The air grew tense.

Then, Makarov's tone suddenly relaxed. "But... to hell with the Council!"

He used magic to set the documents in his hand on fire.

"Listen up! Things that are beyond common sense are born from common sense. Magic is not a miracle power. It is the result of matching the 'spirit' inside us with the 'spirit' in nature."

"It requires condensing your focus and spirit. No, it is the result of pouring your entire soul into it!"

"If you worry about what the people above you think, you can't advance in magic. Don't be afraid of those fools on the Council! Follow the path you believe in!"

"That's what it means to be a Fairy Tail mage!"

"Ooooooooooh!!"

The Fairy Tail members all cheered. Although Kael Vane had just joined, he couldn't help but get caught up in the emotion. He was now a member of Fairy Tail, too.

Soon, the guild returned to its usual scene, with people drinking, chatting, and boasting. It was a lively atmosphere.

Mirajane brought the request slip to Makarov. "Master, Kael Vane wants to take this job. I can't authorize it, so please take a look."

"Oh? What mission is it? Let me see."

Makarov took the request slip.
