Chapter 49 - Chapter 49

"Those old bastards…!"

Uzumaki Kushina's voice trembled.

"How dare they…?!"

As a mother, it felt as though countless knives were carving into her heart.

Her eldest son had been forced to hide himself since childhood—one misstep, and his life would have been forfeit.

Her younger son had endured an even crueler fate.

Neither of them had been honored as the sons of heroes.

Instead, the village that should have protected them had become an abyss—a living hell.

Namikaze Minato's face had gone pale, anger flickering beneath his usual calm.

He was the Hokage, yes—but he was also a father.

He had sacrificed his life to protect the village.

Was this how the village repaid his children?

Kirito spoke of his childhood calmly, but Minato could hear what went unsaid.

Without Jiraiya's intervention, his eldest son would have been dragged into Root, stripped of emotion, and reshaped into a weapon.

As for Naruto…

Branded a demon fox.

Pelted with stones by children.

Fed expired food.

Minato's fists clenched.

"Sorry… I'm so sorry, Kirito…"

Kushina suddenly pulled her son into a tight embrace.

"It's all our fault… Your father and I weren't there. My child… how much you must have suffered…"

Minato stepped forward as well, guilt and pain filling his eyes.

"I'm sorry, Kirito. I didn't think far enough ahead. I let you grow up like this…"

Kirito shook his head gently.

"Father. Mother. I don't blame you."

His voice was calm—steady.

"And I believe Naruto wouldn't blame you either. You were Konoha's heroes. You gave your lives for the village."

His eyes sharpened.

"So I will take Konoha back."

Minato sighed softly.

He could see it.

The resolve beneath his son's calm exterior.

Revenge.

He wanted to speak—to guide him away from that path but Kushina interrupted first.

"Kirito, don't worry."

Her voice was firm.

"Whatever you decide to do, your mother will support you. You're right. Those old men in Konoha deserve it."

A mother's love did not concern itself with status or ideals.

Kushina was kind—but she was also an Uzumaki.

And she would never forgive anyone who harmed her family.

"Kushina… calm down."

Minato placed a hand on her shoulder. He understood her anger—he felt it himself.

Still, his love for Konoha compelled him to speak.

"Kirito… you said you want to take the village back. How?"

"Do you intend to have the Third Hokage step down?"

"Step down?"

Kirito let out a soft, cold laugh.

"That would be far too merciful."

"All of Konoha's high-level leadership—including him—will be executed."

"Konoha will belong to us."

"Kirito."

Minato stepped forward and placed a hand on his son's head, just as he had when Kirito was a child.

"Konoha does not belong to any single person. It belongs to the villagers—to everyone."

He met Kirito's gaze.

"I won't stop you from walking the path you've chosen. But I don't want hatred to swallow you."

"Our family has finally reunited."

"I don't want my son to live with a heart this cold."

Kirito looked at him.

Then shook his head.

"No, Father."

"All living beings—people included—are the same."

"They follow those who stand above them."

"People seek someone stronger than themselves. Someone they can trust."

"And those trusted figures, in turn, pursue even greater power."

"This is how kings are born."

"This is how gods are born."

As Kirito spoke, figures stepped forward behind him.

Orochimaru.

Uchiha Itachi.

Yakushi Kabuto.

Kaguya Kimimaro.

They stood silently at his back.

"The throne of the ninja world has been empty for far too long—ever since the era of the Sage of Six Paths."

"From now on…"

"We will stand above the sky."

Minato and Kushina stared at their eldest son in shock.

They understood what he meant.

This wasn't about Konoha anymore.

He was aiming for the entire ninja world.

The Five Great Nations would never allow a ruler above them.

Which meant—

War.

Endless war.

Bloodshed on a scale beyond imagination.

Minato thought of Senju Hashirama—the God of Shinobi.

Of Uchiha Madara—the Asura of the battlefield.

No one dared challenge Konoha then, because those two existed.

Their strength suppressed the world.

And yet—even they had never unified it.

If Hashirama had truly pursued domination, the world would have drowned in war.

If Madara had ruled Konoha openly, the same result would have followed.

And now…

Kirito intended to do what neither of them had.

The world would resist.

The Five Nations would unite.

Only total victory—or total annihilation—would end it.

Minato's pupils contracted.

He wanted peace.

He didn't want his son to become the enemy of the entire world.

"Kirito… are you truly determined?"

"Can't we just live together as a family?"

Even Kushina hesitated.

She supported her son—but being opposed by the world itself was something else entirely.

She knew better than anyone what that meant.

The Uzumaki Clan had been destroyed for precisely that reason.

Hunted for their sealing techniques.

Erased.

Scattered survivors forced into hiding.

"Father. Mother."

Kirito's voice was unwavering.

"There's no need to persuade me anymore."

"I've already made my decision."

"Only by doing this can everything I want to protect truly be safe."

They understood.

What Kirito wanted to protect was simple.

Family.

Against the Konoha Village if needed.

Against Uchiha Madara.

Against Black Zetsu.

Against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.

Against the hidden darkness of the shinobi world itself.

Without absolute strength, how could anyone protect what mattered?

Ruling the ninja world wasn't ambition.

It was insurance.

So that no one could ever strike from the shadows again.

In this matter...

Namikaze Kirito would listen to no one.
