Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Another Happy Day

New fic, check it out!

After spending two short but wonderful days in Vladivostok-51, Elysia had to leave, taking Vya with her.

The scene before their departure was strikingly similar to many years ago—the town's residents gathered at the crossroads to see them off.

Elysia promised to bring Vya back for visits more often in the future.

Although Seria dearly wanted Vya to stay, it was clear Vya could no longer bear to be apart from Elysia.

"Don't worry, Mom, we'll come back often."

Seria gently stroked Vya's little face. Though reluctant in her heart, she understood Elysia had her own responsibilities. "You have your own matters to attend to out there. Best not to delay your work or anything," Seria said with a smile, her hand still caressing Vya's cheek.

"Vya, you must listen to your big sister, okay?" Seria instructed.

"Mhmm, Mom, Vya will be good," Vya replied with a nod and a smile.

"Alright then, I'm at ease. Time to say goodbye."

Amidst everyone's well-wishes, the two set off on their return journey.

The scene was just like it had been so many years ago.

"Goodbye, everyone~!" Elysia waved.

"Goodbye, Mom!"

No matter where one is, there's always a place of peace in the heart.

Yes, visit home often.

And so it was.

Anyway, things needed to get back on track.

The procurement mission assigned to Dystopia and Kosma last time was completed quite splendidly—though the process had its twists and turns.

She remembered standing with Kosma in front of a mountain of supplies, feeling rather troubled…

Thinking two people were far too few, she called Carol and Hua, since the three of them usually got along quite well.

"What does Sister Elysia need all this for?" Carol asked.

"Well… I think it's meant to be donated to a sanatorium," Dystopia recalled.

"Oh, I see. Sister Elysia is really as kind as she is beautiful," Carol said with a laugh.

Not far away, Kosma and Hua were silently loading the last few boxes onto the transport vehicle.

Seeing the two of them talking about something, Dystopia and Carol glanced at each other but said nothing.

Ah, such is the fate of manual labor…

When Elysia saw the massive amount of stuff, she praised the group lavishly.

She immediately arranged for personnel to deliver these charitable supplies to the Twilight Sanatorium.

And after that, it was back to the ordinary daily routine once more.

For Vya, daily life at the base was both familiar and fresh.

Her big brothers and sisters were busy again.

Especially Brother Kevin and Sister Elysia—they were always rushing out.

Brother Kosma too, he would go out with Uncle Ato.

Sister Dystopia also…

But Vya would still often go with Sister Dystopia to play with Griseo.

Sister Blanca and little sister Griseo both liked Sister Dystopia very much.

Sister Dystopia brought us paints, and Griseo would always dip her fingers in to draw.

Sister Blanca was always worried, but little sister Griseo never put the paint in her mouth, and the pictures she drew with her hands were so pretty!

After painting, Dystopia would always take us to wash up. One time, Sister Elysia saw us and insisted on taking us all for a bath together.

But Sister Dystopia looked very reluctant, her face turning all red.

"N-no need, Sister Elysia! I'll take them!" she stammered, flustered, which made Sister Elysia laugh heartily.

Why was that? Taking a bath with Sister Elysia was a wonderful thing.

Sister Mobius and Sister Klein were just like before.

Sister Klein still loved working so much, though Vya didn't quite understand it.

But Vya was still worried about her.

Sister Mobius often told Sister Klein to take care of her health too.

And also! Also!

Sister Elysia took me to see Sister Vill-V again.

The place where Sister Vill-V lives has changed so much!

It's become a really beautiful big house now!

She even gave us a tour, and also, she made a robot, just like in the stories Sister Elysia told me.

Oh right! That robot can even cook.

Some time later, Elysia took Vya to see Aponia again.

Aponia was very grateful for Elysia's help.

Little Green and the children's mental states had improved a lot, likely thanks to Vya.

Of course, Vya hadn't forgotten that white-haired big brother either.

She remembered clearly—she had said she would go see him.

Vya flew here again at the same time as before.

"You again, little brat?"

"Yep! Big brother remembers me!"

Vya smiled happily.

The white-haired man's tone was considerably more polite compared to last time.

Vya chattered endlessly about recent events.

Though the look in the white-haired man's eyes remained unchanged.

"..."

"Big brother, why do you stay here?"

"Used to it."

"Isn't it boring like this?"

"If Vya had to stay here, Vya would be very unhappy."

"Big brother, what's your name?"

"Name?"

"Yes! I'm Vya!"

"..."

"Kalpas."

"Kalpas… Kalpas…"

Vya repeated the name.

"So it's Brother Kalpas!"

"..."

Kalpas didn't reply. He didn't know why knowing a name would make this little brat in front of him so excited.

Nor did he know why he had answered her question.

Whatever. Not important.

"Big brother, do you want candy?"

Vya pulled a piece of candy from her pocket.

"Green Sis gave this to me. She said it's really tasty."

"..."

"No."

"Really don't want any?"

Vya pressed.

"No."

Although in the end, she still stuffed the candy into Kalpas's mouth.

Have to say, it really was quite sweet.

"Big brother, I have to go back now."

"Hn."

Kalpas grunted in acknowledgment, then closed his eyes.

"Goodbye, Brother Kalpas!"

"Goodbye…?"

Kalpas muttered the word, then fell silent.

His emotions, for once, had stirred.
