Six days.
That was how long it took for Grandfather to look at the situation with Rowan, assess it, and decide that tomorrow was a better departure date than some time next week.
Noel hadn't argued.
He had spent the six days finishing things. The architects had been the most time-consuming. They were good people, skilled, completely committed to their work, and almost entirely unable to understand what Noel was asking for.
He had drawn things. He had described things. He had used analogies that made sense in his old world and landed strangely in this one.
Eventually, they had started to get it.
By the final session that afternoon, they were more excited than he was. They leaned over the draft together, asked questions and made suggestions that were actually good. He had left them with a complete enough picture that the house would be recognisable when he returned.
If it came out the way he imagined, it would be unlike anything on the estate.
