The council had ended, but Wang San's thoughts lingered on Yun Zhan. He quietly slipped away from the others and made his way to Zhan's quarters.
As he neared the doorway, he froze—Yun Zhan was speaking to Wei Liang.
Without thinking, San stepped inside, his voice sharp.
"You better stay out of my matters! You're here to tell my sister something?"
Yun Zhan's eyes darkened, his jaw tight. Without a word, he turned and walked away, his steps cold and deliberate.
"San, what are you doing?" Wei Liang asked, stunned.
San frowned. "What did he say to you?"
Wei Liang sighed, her tone gentle. "He said nothing. My soup spilled, and he was just helping me clean. What did you do?"
The realization hit Wang San like a blade. His chest tightened with regret, and without another word, he rushed out to find Yun Zhan.
